Many thanks to Kowalski for his patience in finding me, and healing me up so I may continue to persevere. Never thought I would need a medic, super glad they exist once I did. I'm not sure I want to mess with ATV's anymore....

ATV flipped crushing me, I'm mobile but around 850 blood and hunting in my condition has become unbareable. I fear I may die without assistance. oh come now Aru, I was using the terms loosely. I DO know the difference between a scripter, a hacker, and how the terms white hat and black hat are used within actual hacking circles. There is a button to, "drop your weapon". I have it bound to one of my extra mouse buttons. It's a good way to show you're friendly. I haven't tried to see of it helps in close quarters, never really occurred to me until now.... Next time i jam against a wall, I'll try it out.

I've told this story a couple of times on here, but it's relevant to this post. Short version, I lost a nine day old character to a hacker. Next day, ran into a white hat hacker who after hearing my story of being nuked, spawned all new gear right into my own backpack without me asking (I had no idea he was a hacker half the time we played together, it only became apparent when I find the gear in my bag). After which I told him that the items were not legit and that he should be counter hacking black hats. I tried to get away from him saying i wanted a daytime server, so he turned on the sun. Then i admitted that it wasn't fun playing with someone with god like power, and at that he seemed upset and desperate to play with someone. After logging out I spawned to a different server and burned all the loot i wasn't supposed to have keeping only the stuff i lost to the hacker the day before. My point is, I too felt pity. Only because he seemed to want someone to play with and was a nice enough guy, and I had to "reject" his friendship due to the fact that he breaks the game, for fun.

Whatever. We all go through this. If your looking for PvP, shoot on sight. If you're a survivor, learn to avoid people. If you need to make contact, use a Mic. So either join the bastards or grow a spine and stand by your convictions.

Bad idea. Do you have any clue how hard it is to try build a vehicle when you are by yourself? Now imagine I am competing with a large clan for spawns and repair loot... Nearly impossible. I enjoy the survival horror in this game and not the PvP personally. Part of that is surviving the murderous bandit bastards, but that shouldn't be the sole purpose of the game. Basically, if i want to build a vehicle, and not just always have to search for camps to find one, i have to find a low pop server.

I ran into a white hat hacker, i didn't know he was a hacker but long story short after he heard i lost my gear to hacker death he spawned gear into my back pack without asking. I burned all of the "extra" items he gave me, ones that i hadn't lost to the hacker the day before (as50, clips, ghillie), and kept the rest. All gear i have is in the game. If i somehow got banned for this it would be total crap. I received unsolicited hacker redemption. Besides this, I've played 100 percent legit, and lone wolf.

The pdw also takes five or six different types of clip as well.

I burned a hacked AS50, 6 clips, and a ghillie suit in a fireplace.

2 back to back entries I made in the DayZ Stories thread involving hackers: 1: "9 day survivor lost to hacker. I was running along the north western perimeter looking for camps and vehicles when suddenly someone took a shot at me. I could not hear where the shot came from so I tried to run for the nearest row of trees. Next thing I know, large explosions are erupting from the treeline I am running towards, and the first thing I thought was, "Satchel charges", (now I believe this to be artillery), so I still think I am in a legit PvP run for my life and don't Alt-F4. Now my assailant starts firing with a different gun and I am shot dead. Heart pounding and now beginning to get the slight inkling that I may have just ran into a hacker, I respawn near Cherno. I run in the general direction of my first possible loot location when I am suddenly teleported to the wilderness up north with a large group of other new spawns mostly barehanded, some with hatchets. People are generally bewildered running around yelling. Suddenly cows parachute down from the sky. And then what I believe was a serious of bombs or nukes went off. After aborting and switching servers I spawned in the wilderness bleeding knocked out and with legs broken. Needless to say I respawned when I could. I dont feel I have it in me to play more right now. I might fire it up in an hour or two.... The only consolation I take from this is a full reset of my kill count now that ammo limits are now in place. From now on, the kill count will mean more. Edit: I found a low pop server and gathered some basics and headed to the NE Airstrip After clearing the control tower, I found what I would describe as a "survivor tent" pitched directly in front of the first hangar. Inside was mostly lower tier weapons, but the remington was better than the crossbow I had. Also inside that tent, to my surprise, was a GPS! Which I had not found up until now." 2: "Today I was picked up by a whitehat hacker on an ATV. It was at this time I told the story of how a hacker killed me yesterday and I lost my M16 and NVG's. Moments later we pull up to a barn, and now I know something is amiss. He urges me to enter the barn where he says I will find some supplies. I enter the barn to find it empty, no loot, no zombies. It seemed a zombie was about to spawn and as soon as it popped up, it disappeared. Now my spidey senses were going wild and for no particular reason I thought to check my backpack. My remington now an M16ACOG, My revolver an M9, NVG's, morphine, everything I had lost to the hacker the previous night (except my M16 was not an ACOG). Next thing I know he comes over the chat with, "hey wow look at that, this must be the best barn ever!". Now I tell him that I appreciate the fact that he is trying to help, but the items aren't legit, and that instead of gearing up guys like me, he should be out hacking the black hat scripters down. He agreed to this and promptly teleported us to NW airfield. Here he displayed the ability to merely walk up to zombies and kill them and when I tried to tell leave using the night time as an excuse, he turned on the sun. Finally I conceded to him that playing with someone with godlike power removed all of the fun and challenge from the game for me and that I appreciated the fact that he used his powers for good and not evil but I still could not play with him. Next thing I know, he teleported away, and I aborted from that server which was beginning to fill up and lag terribly." Edit: to say, not only did the white hat return the gear I had lost, he also gave me an AS50, 6 clips, and a ghillie suit which I burned in the nearest fireplace I could make as soon as I respawned.

Nice vid, shows the genuine fan appreciation. I'm a custom bound lefty controls player, and I'm not a sniper/PvP guy. So, I don't even know what key rolls! XD

I had a 9 day survivor, killed by a hacker. The next day I met a random friendly and as he was driving me around on his ATV I told him about the gear I lost to the hacker. Long story short, this guy turns out to be a white hat hacker and before I knew it, he spawned all of my old gear and extra stuff right into my backpack. I told him he should be hacking down the evil hackers and hopped to another server. I then took all of the EXTRA items he gave me and burned them in a fireplace, (AS50 with 6 clips included). I only kept the gear I had lost to the evil hacker the day before. Super legit player here, I don;t even know how to dupe. And the tent I found with hacked gear in it was the only one I've ever griefed. No guilt here.

I say the only way to properly dispose of these is to get them running and FRAPS a huey dogfight, over water.

Another vote to sticky this thread. I lost my best trading items to a hacker death recently, or I might be looking for a PDW....

While amusing, it's not DayZ. But unfortunately, it is? Either way, the dancing with Jason was funny. Edit: Would be better if he hung out at a lake and stalked and killed only people who sound like teenage girls on direct chat.

When I logged back in I checked my gear and found that the hacker had also put an as50 and 6 clips in my backpack, as well as a ghillie suit. Awesome. Is there a master list of servers where you will patrol? I wouldn't mind playing on a map with a police presence. Anything to tip the balance away from the bandits is welcome to this lone wolf. Your mission directly supports and encourages my game play style, and for that, you have my beans.

I had my first death to a hacker tonight. Lost a 9 day character. I had a chance to Alt-F4 but thought I might have been shot legit, so I didn't DC. By the time I realized it was a hacker, I was dead. Immediately respawned to same server to get thunderdomed, cowachuted, and nuked.

The only tent I ever griefed was full of hacked items. And I would say, with all the battleeye shenanigans lately, better off getting rid of them somehow.
