Cattle prod In action I found a thermometer and it was same animation as hypo and did not give me a temp reading. I am also hungry forever. Running up stairs is out again. Temperature status is out. Searching for berries produced an ashwood stick. Zombies were scarce and the couple I saw did not agro but I did not test if they were completely frozen. -

Eugene on dev tracker: "Dont`t forget to update client, the version of executable is the same. Only data is new." Does this mean I will have to do something different other than let the update push through on it's own? -

All US Exp servers are not functioning currently. I was able to join a German server but then my game crashed. New players need to learn to lurk more before posting. I completely understand why the dev team wouldn't visit this place. -

I'm more proud of characters I kept alive for a month+ in the mod. DayZ isnt really eh, DayZ yet (to me). -

I didn't imply changing just long range rifles as much as tweaking them at ALL ranges for authenticity. Honestly, I'm not even sure how your comment relates to what I said....
-
This rifle is beautiful in it's simple function driven form and a solid suggestion based on region it would seem. IED's/Sticky bombs are fine for anti-tank. Any kind of light/medium explosive, even Molotov cocktails should hinder/destroy most vehicles unless they are armored. To me, sniping is as fun vs Zeds as players, and I don't really care for your gear, so you might imagine that I'm somewhat ambivalent towards modern long range sniper rifles in DayZ. That being said, there probably should be a modern long range rifle in DayZ but I also believe that long range sniping should be made extremely difficult given all factors involved (weapon condition, wind, bullet drop, and even temperature/humidity can likely effect how a projectile travels).

Did you check the Dev Tracker today lipcut? According to Chris Torchia Hicks isn't feeling well and will get the report out as soon as possible. But I'm just a self proclaimed expert who has been playing DayZ for 2 years, so what do I know? Oh yeah, I know how to follow a forum and maybe exercise some patience too. :/

Boats were in the Mod. Boats will be in the SA. Please search more thoroughly for OLD topics before you make a new one.

I love my cast iron pan. I could live out of it with a 2 prong fork and a steak knife. Also this, and I liked your analogy. -
Well I've officially teamed up with a weed smoker.

Some people can handle their substances better than others in general. THC is like everything else, very dependent on the user. Amazingly (to me), I have made friends who I share some of my hobbies with who for YEARS had no idea I enjoy the herb until I told them. Anyway, DayZ is the perfect game for the chronically paranoid IMO. :P -
I didn't take it as bashing but I wanted to make a point. Every single public online game I've played has had hackers. Usually I've found, the larger the amount of players per server and in the game in general, the greater the chances for wide spread hacking. Edit: Oh, and these are games long long past "complete" as well. Security patches never end.

Fixed. Also, could have been lag as stated. If so, worst possible time for it.... condolences. :(

The melee and hit detection in .49 is much improved from .48. Fighting zombies has a similar feel to prior patches and in some instances I thought better in general. -
All of this. If you find any part of DayZ progress or implementation to be undesirable to the degree that the game is a "lost cause" and you have nothing constructive to add (positive, negative, or otherwise) other than to criticize people professionally in a field you wouldn't likely be qualified to even enter, you should just walk away from DayZ and cut your losses at 30$ and save yourself the obvious pain you experience at the hands of this wholly inept and downright nefarious development team.
-
The irony here is that many people complaining that DayZ isn't finished yet are likely the same people who won't like DayZ when it is finished. We are not aware of every technical and non-technical problem the SA encounters and I would not pretend to know what kind of pressure and workload Rocket has dealt with since the viral success of the mod. I have my own fears and misgivings about the direction and progression of the SA but I also have faith that BI understands Rockets vision and will in a reasonable amount of time produce a game that holds to a high standard of quality conceptually and technically.
-
In the Mod and SA it is never a good idea to join an unoccupied server. As a lone wolf I prefer servers that have between 2-8 people maximum and I rarely have encountered hacking in the Mod or SA (honestly). The Mod also had weird whitehat scripters who were sometimes lonely and desperate for friends so they would offer you hacked gear and vehicles.
-
Wait! They released DayZ standalone and I'm still playing the Alpha version!! Quick, someone tell me where I can get the finished version of DayZ!!! What's that you say....there are many examples of great games taking 5+ years to develop? The only one butthurt here is the OP who is obviously one of the massively self entitled idiots the few half attentive people on thios planet have to put up with. Go back to sleep baby boy.

I am optimistic for the next stable release. Hopefully some of these new factors at play will have some the kinks worked out. I would like to add that a new player pointed something out while they were whinging that I thought should be considered..... Why don't we ever find a gun with a magazine and rounds, or even just the magazine? People leave loaded weapons about all the time IRL. Oh, and btw...... It's BerEzino, not BerINzino. I've seen this misspelling around a few times and it irks me. You're spelling it the way you are mispronouncing it. READ. -
^^^I'm a long distance cyclist and can tell you that blurred and even tunnel vision can occur during prolonged cardio. (This is illustrated well in the movie, The Flying Scotsman) As far as situational awareness is concerned I feel most players have little interest in patient forms of stealth, which include scouting parameters and taking longer routes to enter towns in hopes of going undetected. Personally, I try to play with the feeling of eyes on me at all times and I also have a very keen eye for movement, patterns, shapes, and silhouettes. I often wonder if I do enough to watch my surroundings and wonder how many benevolent souls have seen my geared but non-aggressive character, and let me live. I don't PK at all. I have avoided FPS games since the 90's and was tired of the genre not long after Golden Eye came out. I honestly enjoy the search and explore aspect of DayZ and play on mostly low pop servers in stable play. Most FPS games would not have enough options in place to make my style of play even possible. The only way I have managed to survive for long periods of time in this fashion is by seeing YOU first. And when I tell you I've had countless players (with better gear than I at the time) in my scope and let them pass, I'm not lying.

robophant you seem to understand that this is a game in a testing phase but somehow expect the dev team to perform in miraculous fashion. Do you program or create games in any way? Do you have a longstanding background of Alpha testing for game studios large and small? Can you offer me examples of how in your direct experience the development of a game of this scale was handled in such a way that every patch was flawless? I'm confused as to where you get your standard for game production from....- 1605 replies

On experimental 0-1 East last night, same loot piling was seen in one of those office buildings on a construction site. I think the amount of loot I saw on the top floors in the government building in Novo might have been bugged too. -

I have fought zombies with the splitting axe, the hammer, and the crowbar so far and melee is definitely much improved from .48. The hammer worked quite well in fact. No more zombies hitting you from ridiculous distances or after they are dead so far, yay! It will be great when this build hits stable and I have a large choice of servers. I don't like seeing all these people. Thankfully the last 2 people I met were friendly enough though....
