Someone reported this in the stable release discussion thread though I haven't seen it yet myself. This is something I imagine will be a priority to fix.

I've only come across 2 fire stations and neither had axes. I've checked countless sheds, barns, warehouses, construction, and factory sites, with no luck either. I have a feeling it's just a very bad string of luck for axes and this character.

Either I have really bad luck with server restarts or my last couple of sessions were under 30mins before I got a server DC that looks a lot like the one that plagued the build that was accidentally pushed before this went to experimental. When I played on higher ping/different regions servers I had less DC's in experimental. I'm going to a mid-range ping server to see if it happens again....

Did you happen to spawn near Vybor? That's a known bug, known as naked and afraid in Vybor. Yeah you should definitely go KoS because of that.... :/

Melee is greatly improved. Loot tables seem to be better balanced across the board. Found some nice starter loot but it wasn't too easy. I'm seeing more zeds in general too, though I might be imagining that. Fighting zeds head on, aim high or miss completely, strafing to their sides and back are more effective. To avoid switching between hotkeys bug I am only keeping melee weapon on number 1 and nothing else. Rifle and compass I'm switching to in the inventory screen. I've found that if you escape from the inventory screen it clips or mutes the sound of eating/drinking/bandages. I was able to drink a Spite twice by spamming the action button at the end of the animation, like the old searching for berries trick. Delayed damage or damage for clothes not showing unless inventory added or article removed from body and replaced.

Time to wipe all you dirty bastards. Thanks for update team! It's likely back to stable for me for awhile. :beans:

I'm really having fun with this build. Unfortunately, I just lost a character to my legs being eaten by stairs. Personally, I have better luck staying connected for longer to servers with slightly higher ping. It may just be coincidence but I get server DC's from my low ping (20-50) East/Northeast servers more often than servers with ping around 60-75 that are hosted down South. -

Either I have bad timing logging into servers about to restart or the server DC issue is not completely ironed out. Yesterday I was murdered on East - 01 and logging in an entire day later I still got a 30 second respawn timer. Though melee is improved I have noticed that swinging my fire axe head-on at zeds is completely missing and you HAVE to get to either side of them or behind them to land a hit. After my first server reset/DC I logged into a server I had not been on in a few a days and the hive spat out a character I thought had been glitch wiped. Funny enough, the building I spawned into had the morphine, ammo, and food I needed. -

It's a discrepancy between the state the server thinks the door is in and what state the client thinks the door is in. Zed's believe the server side state to be true so they might walk through seemingly closed doors or stop at seemingly open doors. Vent: I wish people who contributed to this thread would follow and read the entire thread so we don't keep repeating the same bugs/reports. If you followed the thread closely like I do, you would find this disjointed "conversation" pointlessly repetitive. To the guy who KoS'd me as I was about to bandage, you could of EASILY robbed me or simply asked for my stuff if that's what you wanted. Otherwise, I hope the murder of a 75% dead bleeding man holding a bandage with very little gear of value was satisfying. -

Boots do not dry when you move them to backpack and back to feet but jackets and pants do. Boots had to be put on floor to dry. Rain graphic inside buildings is a thing I think we are all familiar with. Jail and blue warehouse allowed rain to show through. I was wondering about a few things RE: body temps. I am an all weather/all year cyclist and when you are engaged in cardio while wearing rain gear you will heat up significantly and in less than an hour (in most cases) the under layers of your clothes are completely soaked through. It is well understood that this is necessary trade off with wet weather activity and you will carry less water weight and feel warmer with rain gear at least repelling the outside water. My point here is that if you stop the activity keeping you warm, the under layers will feel damp and become cold rather rapidly if you do not immediately seek shelter/warmth and dry off. I think this could be factored into the current temp system. I have also found that when you are cold you burn significantly more calories while engaged in physically intense activities just trying to keep body temp up. I'm sure it has been discussed already but I guess it bears mentioning again. My character was cold and I tried running in place (into a corner of a building) for a few minutes to see if it would warm me, but it did not (I may not have ran long enough, or the ambient temp was too low). Trying to fight zeds with a hoe, I can't find an axe with this character so no fire to warm myself, OR splint to mend my broken arm. I found I need to aim high with the hoe (as mentioned by others I believe). I found a lot of .22 rounds but only one clip for the SKS I have. Carrying a .45 in hopes I find rounds for that. I've been so busy just surviving that I haven't been able to strike out looking for fancy loots yet.... :/ -

I don't think they should take out zeds chasing animals. I mean, there should be a (small) random chance a zombie chases an animal, right? Gamers are often a younger crowd and patience is not a virtue common to youth. I feel like I've waited 30+ years for a game like this and some of you whine like the most entitled children imaginable. Maybe early next week we will see some work being done to get the servers back up and running properly. -

Someone mentioned it yesterday (Ithink in this thread), you may have missed it if you haven't read all pages. There was only one server working well for me yesterday by the end of the night. -
A good idea, likely suggested before (though I don't exactly recall). It would be a sort of less than lethal option for bandits but I think it would be difficult to balance. You would need a restrain+smother action for the attacker and at least SOME way for the victim to try to fend off the attack without just being helpless when caught. A struggle mechanic would favor the victim most likely and no way of breaking free would make the tactic too easy..... Not a simple thing to put in game.

Thanks for the heads-up. :beans: -
I have found 1 MP5 and 1 magazine but unfortunately on separate characters. :( leviski your signature is broken and shows the generic photobucket bandwidth exceeded message. If you can see the image properly it is because it is cached for you.

Finally a response without the bravado.... Unfortunately, I do perceive the prevailing KoS mentality to be low brow and unimaginative. Some choices require more sophisticated thinking than others, yes? From the way you have described your style of gameplay I wouldn't immediately lump you in with that group. Again, unfortunately, I imagine you wouldn't give me "a pass" if you saw me and found me to be a non-aggressive player either. I don't often play hero but hypothetically, if you saw me helping a bambi by killing zeds, would you merely just kill all at a distance and move on even though you have nothing to gain apart from a little marksmanship practice? If you observe me just picking off zeds from a treeline in a remote town, would you merely fire on me then?
-
You pigeon holed every survivor with your statements, something I at least made some effort not to do to KoS'rs in mine. How do you know where I go and where I avoid? I loot everywhere, you basically have to, I just see you before you see me, or watch from the treeline as you play grab ass with another murderer and avoid the whole shootin' match. Surviving more peacefully is just more boring to you, so you commit murders. In my opinion it is far easier to camp, snipe (or attack), kill or die, repeat; than the hours of scouring and searching a non-aggressive player needs to make (all the while repeling zombies, murderers, bandits, et al). Actually, this is the stupid statement. That doesn't make COMBAT more skilled. Combat requiring more skill would require an opponent of equal or greater skill using the same equipment. Yes I do suggest that many KoS proponents merely kill for gear mixed with their need for "tears", it's been that way since the mod. I cannot tell you how many times I've read, "Why should I waste my time searching and looting when I can just try to kill someone and take their stuff". It's usually not a complete bambi that does this sort of thing and you know it. They find a single rifle or any weapon and just throw caution to the wind (FOR THE MOST PART), so I like to think that you knew what I meant and now you're just grasping at straws really.

Soooo, if you have your heart set on constant geared PvP.... you'll "soon" find yourself playing the wrong game. Nobody (at this point) can rightly say what the final balance of DayZ will play like but I am fairly confident it will not be a balance that favors constant KoS. Don't kid yourself, KoS is still a choice and a lazy one in my opinion. That same experience you rinse and repeat can be found in any number of games where you actually have real competition with the same weapons head to head. Therein lies the sad fact, most people who PvP in DayZ are not interested in a skilled battle, but merely want to grief and have no patience to search for thier own gear..

To the dude on experimental drinking in the lone prison just north of NWAF
☣BioHaze☣ replied to doctorwhy's topic in General Discussion
It wasn't an insult, it was fact, and I could have just as easily have switched out CoD for any number of FPS games. Also, the juxtaposition of the camelback abbreviations KoS/CoD has a small element of creativity. -

i think the "military location excuse" for KoS is idiotic but then again I think KoS is about as creative as playing say, CoD.... that being said, he was probably a newer player. -
In the future, there may be significant consequences to make people think twice about killing arbitrarily. Just adding more zombies will change the dynamic significantly.

If you're buying the game then you should know what you should expect.
☣BioHaze☣ replied to yazar8's topic in General Discussion
It's really easy to avoid KoS in most cases. My last 2 encounters on experimental I consider neutral as I was able to run away and survive. The last guy I saw sounded honestly friendly but I have little interest in playing with randoms at this time and will likely have my roommate to play with in coming updates. I do believe this game will eventually be balanced in such a way that KoS will be seen as less beneficial than it is now. -
look at the response from the people who defend KoS. Mostly low brow, inarticulate, and unimaginative excuses for knowing no other way to play.

I opened a can of sardines while it was on the floor and ate all from right click in inventory in jacket and did not crash.
