KoS is a choice. Are you basically playing DayZ just for a firefight? = KoS Are you playing for a unique enormous random survival horror experience? = Communicate before firing. I survive longer because bullets are not directed at me as often. If you KoS you go down the line of encounters until you die and repeat the process. If you do not KoS you may get KoS'd of course or have a range of experiences from friendly>KoS. People are historically programmed by FPS games. If you put a gun in their hand in a game, they just shoot everything that moves. This is obvious in DayZ and creates a unique challenge for those of us who would rather not KoS/have been playing FPS games since Doom/GoldenEye.

I have avoided experimental since I found out vehicles were implemented. I might switch over tomorrow afternoon hoping things have quieted down.... Thanks for the updates and info people! I hope people keep in mind that everything we see is a placeholder for a placeholder. :P

Your lack of objectivity is not fair to those of us who have read this thread, the "need more zombies" threads, the countless "KoS made me a murderer" threads and the now the soon to be extinct "we need vehicles" threads, amongst many others. I love bikes. I want bikes. I don't want 100 threads on bikes. I want all of the ideas for bikes in one place where the DEVELOPMENT TEAM can easily read through them all. Bike everywhere in real life, please.

I do 100+ mile rides and am well versed in long distance and all weather cycling. In all the science I've come across it is well understood that cycling is approx 1/5 the effort of running.

Eh, old suggestion going back to the mod dayz.... There were many reasons why a river wasn't added and probably wouldn't be added. Maybe this is more likely with the new renderer but I doubt it. I am for the addition of a river though.

I think eating human brains for an "added boost" is an inauthentic game mechanic. Being a cannibal should have a "psychological" impact, in my opinion. How that could be shown in game.... I'm not rightly sure.

Wipey wipey wipey boys, girls, and "super" dupers!! This here is .50. You can't even think about crying about a wipe until after full release and even then it may be necessary moving forward. Are we with the program yet, kids? No, probably not. Here come the, "I got wiped!!" threads. :rolleyes:

I see where you might think of it as a bar.... A "commercial hunting cabin/hotel" type place could look a lot like one of these buildings, sometimes complete with professional kitchen and bar. People pay good money to have all the creature comforts, including chefs/servers in some of those places and just like in the game, these types of places would be less common. It's just what I always thought the place resembled, especially considering the facade as well.

I like the desert idea because it's basically what we have with a dash of context to help prop up your "4th wall". I remember Dean saying he wanted to make DayZ maps for other regions of the world. US style map, Asian region map, African region map, etc. With the addition of rocks/cliffs we could be provided a means (like access points near debug) to migrate characters through borders (on land and off). That would be neat but I'm fairly positive that this is something the devs/Rocket are not interested in.

Let's not forget that there may be a risk of Kuru (madcows disease/tremors) associated with eating people implemented into DayZ. Someone should go full wendigo and see if they get kuru, for science.

*Manhunt got banned for depicting some graphic forms of violence but games have done just as offensive things since with little attention. Movies depict every atrocity but only because games are supposedly "for children" do they get held up to extra scrutiny.

Yup, just the 1 then? This illustrates my point; hotfixes would usually only be pushed out if found needed for widespread crash fix, like the fixes listed in the link.

Stable will only get an update once a month unless somehow completely unplayable by EVERYONE. Experimental gets weekly updates and the combination of the work from those updates is packaged into a most comprehensive and playable stable that then gets released. I have a feeling you knew this already but may have forgotten. "Hotfixes" are not necessary just because you some people think they are. That would be a real waste of resources in my opinion. Have we even seen any "hotfixes" on stable ever? I think I recall a couple for experimental but only when causing widespread crashing.

After being eaten by stairs I logged back into the same server (which had been daytime moments prior) to find it was now nighttime. Is it possible I died on server reset?!? I found good starter gear pretty quickly, including a blaze and some rounds for it. Still in over an hour, 0 zombies seen. I'm curious to hear about the factors we are testing in this build....

^^^This all depends on your idea of fun. If you just want a shootout, there are far better games purpose built for this and with better competition. ^^^This is bull. If you manage to have a neutral interaction and make a trade for needed supplies everyone wins. If you just shot the person you could: damage that piece of gear he might have traded you, lose the chance to have an exchange that doesn't involve shooting (exchanging info on loot in other towns or player activities around the server), team up for a random friendly mission to a specific locale, and when they implement more survival (less ammo/food), crafting, and add vehicles there will be more reasons to not shoot. I actually wish there were no clans. If there were no clans and you had to make friends randomly it would force more interaction. -
Uh, There Were A LOT Of Zombies Last Night

Low pop servers are more likely to have zombies as people have not come through and whacked them yet. On stable the zombie numbers may have risen a little from the last build and they are certainly aggroing fairly easily if you RUN everywhere. Try crawling/walking more possibly. Experimental build has been fairly zombieless currently as I have seen only 3 in 5 hours play time. -
I saw 1 zombie in like 4 hours of gameplay yesterday. I came across 2 just now. --------------------------------------------- I believe I just died from the old desynch while climbing stairs/upstairs glitch. I walked to the 2nd floor, had just enough time to glance around one room and then the new death animation showed me fall over either inside the building foundation (but the walls were invisible), or just outside.

I usually play on servers with 10 or less people myself. I find low pop servers have more friendly players in general. I don't really avoid the high traffic areas anymore but I certainly don't visit Berezino like I used to. -
Only 1 zombie in another hour of play time. It's possible the city I was in was visited by another player, which would explain the lack of zombies. I have looted 3 small towns and most of a city and only saw 2 firearms the whole time. (Repeater and Carbine) If you play on lower population servers you will hear this a lot less. Of course, if you're playing just for a shootout you wouldn't likely be happy on a low population server either....
