Playing as Conan the Barbarian and screaming "Crom!!" as you kill zombies confirmed. Translation: The sword seems as effective as an axe or sledge in dispatching zombies. -

I'm finding a lot of tents. I walked my first spawn off a small embankment and died, oops. I spawned in the NE corner where the boathouse and tiny fishing village are and grabbed a lot stuff from the boats and few houses there. Following debug border I set myself to the NW and soon I found another small town, also with loot intact. Besides seeing some out of place loot it is interesting to see a different loot table in action. Definitely seeing less canned food/drink as someone else pointed out, which is nice. The hunger is real! -

This is interesting but why isn't the city rendering below him and why are objects popping in at such a close distance? If you aren't loading the city then of course you'll see better frame rates.... I'm confused. If this is how the new renderer will display the game currently why would anyone play this way other than for the novelty of seeing it running? -

I spawned near Novo and worked a safe path NE through the idle zombies completely weaponless for the most part. Creeping around I saw zombies inside open houses no less than 3 times and I found it easier to evade and lose aggro as well. I found 2 cans of tuna, an assault vest, a pitchfork, an axe, 1 green pepper, and 1 pair of wellies after looting many many houses for over an hour. I'm surprised I found enough food not to starve and I am planning to pick the next berry bush a lot as I head North and hopefully find more loot/food. It's certainly annoying when people only a few hours ahead of you pick the servers clean.... -
Nice shots and tutorial. I like to think I have some natural talent behind the lens and I used to really enjoy photography in real life. I took this screenshot last night because HolidayZ.

I had no CTD's today but a lot of slowdown/frame drops in Novo. My old video card handled some large cities much better (with some stripped down settings though). More than a few zombies for shooting in Novo. Considering my gear I decided to just run through, gunning zombies as I went. (Longhorn, Repeater, Sawn-Off) A mil-zombie tagged me so I retreated into a blue door warehouse. Immediately following the bandage animation I must have desynched/glitched and fell through the floor while kneeling which only broke my leg and didn't outright kill me. I took 1 of my 2 morphine out and fixed myself up but had ruined all clothes from the waist down. DayZ was fun today but I often dream of the new renderer, and higher zombie counts, and the rest of the medical/survival stuff that will one day be in the game....

To those complaining of CTD. I had constant CTD problems with .45 and my problem was fixed in later updates. Have some faith/patience and it will pay off!

If I see someone carving up another player for steaks I will shoot him dead without warning, yes. This would technically be a form of KoS, truly justifiable as self defense in my opinion. If they require an upclose and personal coups de gras, I will likely say something like, "fucking cannibal" before I dispatch them.

It's a good effort and a nice presentation. I like the addition of the derringer. I plan on trying some of this play style in the future. Currently I enjoy civilian firearms for zombie killing and play as non-aggressive towards other players, unless I am assaulted.

Hi WB! I suggest reading as many dev status reports as you can stand to read. I would also recommend following the threads dedicated to each build number closely (stable and experimental respectively). I just tried playing for about 2 hours, mostly in 1st person. I encountered 0 zombies. Not one. :( I think I had bad luck with server restarts and found myself needing to hop a few times when I lost connection. I'm running into "christmas loot" spawn a fair amount in remote locations. I found 3 barracks like buildings in the woods stocked with every civilian weapon, tons of backpacks, some magazines, food and random tools/melee weapons. I stuck with my repeater. After getting server DC for the 4th time I'm calling it quits for the night.

Thanks for interesting videos Twig! I'm hoping more zombies and survival factors being implemented and balanced will make for a more diverse DayZ experience overall. Lately, I've had quite a few non-violent encounters, which was nice. -
If you can overlook the fact that 578,043 other things will be developed first and stick around for successive updates.... ....one day, you just might get your wish.

^Or find persistence off servers for your heli hunting needs. Edit: Caboose187 That pic I posted made me realize that DayZ had not saved my new video settings.... Still going to rock the wide FoV I think though. Mayve I'm just used to it by now. What would the ideal FoV for a 1080p screen be to purely preserve aspect ratio, anybody?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe heli's are invisible on persistent servers but the loot still spawns. Servers with persistence off have visible heli's with loot.

That was a fun almost hour long session. There seemed to be just enough zombies on the first person server I was on to keep me on my toes but I was still able to pretty much run everywhere as long as I have ammo. I got caught in a house with smallish doors at one point and saw a funny glitch where I shot a zombie twice with the sawn off shotgun and the impact points hung in the air. After dispatching the zed with my axe I tried a lot of jump spamming and suddenly found myself teleported outside the house.

Flexing my new video card and ram with this update and things seem to work quite well for me. Still no generic first person only servers for the Northeast or even Eastern seaboard that I could find. I found a generic first person server with fairly low ping but it was not labelled for region and seemed to be lagging a bit more than ping would have dictated. Similar to prior patches, ruined jackets still keep you dry but because they no longer have thermal properties you can wear them with most other gear and stay at a good temp (considering current season setting).

I thought all door states were random now. How do you know the jailhouse double doors spawn open 100% of the time?
