If third person was removed from DayZ...

You have to remember that removing 3rd person would perhaps make the game too difficult for many new or casual players. Maybe the feature should be fixed server side, either on or off but not both.

It should be like BF at least, 3rd person only in vehicle.

Public character finally died, day 164.

I guess I should. It got to the point where I had not played this character for so long I forgot what gear I even had, as mentioned, we have 2 servers now and most people play private hives, when I logged into a public hive yesterday I found the following gear- Ghillie suit, NVG's, rangefinder, M9 Sd, M4 Sd with 7 mags, M14 in the Alice pack and pretty much everything you could want, but the gear is not the key to survival, it just helps. The silenced m4 was used mostly to kill zombies until I ran out of ammo, then I would get more from either the airfield barracks or chopper crashes, so no, I didn't just camp in forests, but remember, you can get just about everything from just a deer stand including dmr's and m14's, food and drink. Remember, every shot fired has a risk. The one bandit kill- I was bored and found an m107 at a chopper crash up north, so I ran down to balota and waited at an elevated position near the airfield hoping to snipe some random guy, it happened to be a bandit with an akm trying to kill everything in sight, the zombies helped me kill him, it would be 3-400 meters out, easy kill. I do not remember any other interesting story's about this character, all I can do is offer some insight to how I play in order to survive. Get off the coast, get basic stuff, food and drink and get the hell away up north, as mentioned, the deer stands can give you everything you need, check every one you see. Use peripheral dots and 3rd person, something I never did until recently but it's a huge advantage which everyone has, why not use it, I did not because of ignorance and purity. Assess The risk, every action you take may determine whether you live or die, is it worth it ? PVP, again think about it, do not take the shot unless 100 % sure you can make the kill without consequence, other then your humanity that is. I don't know what else to say really, the character has no amazing story's to tell other than it survived for so long, played on and off. "all these moments will be lost, like tears in rain"

Namalsk: Why do folks like it?

From my experience running this map on one of our servers, a few really like it, but many dont. Its too tough and full of PVP. Personally i love it, its the best Dayz map other than Cherno.

RE: L85 & M107 Thank you for listening Rocket.

    Remote control hackers?

Replace (belt) with something else and you might be getting close.
  7. Back in the day when a bandit skin meant something and the temperature feature worked this was a really great mod. I have observed player behaviour for a long time now and recently i realised a few things mainly due to playing fallujah and begs the question- why do you even play dayz ? On a map like fallujah first priority should be finding a vehicle because everything else comes easy after that, gear and loot. But no, most people choose to run straight to the airfield for a deathmatch where they will die pretty quick, then spend another 20+ minutes running back to do it over again, I guess it's pretty much the same on chernarus except they run to cherno. At least 80% of this mod is PVP based and IMO that makes it a failure as far as the original concept goes. I understand why its devolved to this, but don't you think there are much better games for Pvp ?, I do and never played this mod just to shoot people. I think the best thing Rocket can do for the final mod update would be to fix humanity, because unless the balance changes between bandit/survivor/hero then the mod, for me, will be dead. Just some thoughts.

Why do you even play dayz ?

I'm sorry you don't understand me, or pehaps you think you do... whatever. I will no longer discuss the mod on this forum, we have a nice steam group where rational people exist and rational discussions happen, i'm not pointing the finger a any one person, just the gereral feel of this forum, its almost worse than battlelog. I'm sure before this thread dies it will devolve into a personal slanging match, i won't be reading it, all subscriptions are now off.

Why do you even play dayz ?

I think i've already explained this, but certain people can't seem to absorb it.

Did your mother ever warn you about taking pleasure in the misfortune of others, i guess not.
  11. I find this to be a great vehicle/ team based map but 1.1 introduced a few issues. 1 lag massive lag in the city and airfield when zombies spawn, makes the game unplayable in some cases, I understand the need for more zombies and loot but this needs to be revised. 2 disabling of fuel stations. This is a mistake IMO, people need to be encouraged to use vehicles, not be put off because that are too hard to maintain or refuel, its fine in chernarus but not here. 3. Camping around the airfield. People are spawning in and running straight to the airfield for a deathmatch which is rather silly on a map like this, give people a reason to go elsewhere, since there is an obsession gear perhaps there should be barracks in the upper north airbase and more "areas of interest" around the city. As it stands version 1 of this map was much better. That's all.
  12. I dont see a way to do that, how ?

Why do you even play dayz ?

Really like some of the replies here, makes me want to continue playing, you know, for all it's flaws, I am still hopelessly addicted to this mod, I think that says something.

Why do you even play dayz ?

But there are much more fun games to do PVP, really, just look at the engine for a start, it feels like a 10 year old game, but thats part of the attraction i guess.

Why do you even play dayz ?

No but if you read my original post and understand what i'm saying- the balance is off. Yes i agree in part, but again the magic seems to be lost, hope we can see those days again soon.

Sorry m8 but i am getting drunk, maybe use the quote function next time ehh ?

Why do you even play dayz ?

not for those taking the bullet after running around for 30 mins trying to find a fucking tin of coke. Take a hint, heres a fun shooter for you where you can start with any gear you like (once unlocked) and when you die you can spawn back in the exact same location in 5 seconds, its call Bad company 2, yeah its great, proper ragdoll fx, explosive physics, great vehicle handling, the list of good things is to long. i reiterate, why do you even play dayz ? Sure the low TTK and hardcore feel of arma makes shootouts intense, but why do you not just play arma if thats what you want. Again, player behavour is the problem.

Why do you even play dayz ?

LOL woot ? Last time i checked my public hive character was on day 40 with 780 zombie kills and 1 bandit kill- no murders. comprende ? probably not....

Why do you even play dayz ?

Time will tell whether this "idea" will work or not, and for the record i have no problem with PVP being there, just not in the volumes we see now. And as for people being bored, let me tell you about my adventures on Fallujah- First thoughts, wow ! this is huge, a huge desert with nothing but trashed vehicles, then i see the city, wow a huge city this is massive but wheres the loot ? oh yeah look there is dayz building mixed in around the city, actually there tons of loot, really. Next i find the airfield, hardly anyone on the server, chinooks and other choppers all over the place WTF about 30 barracks ! then i find the Humvee, this vehicle will stay with me for the next 4 days. For anyone who does not know, the Humvee has armor plating and a mounted 50cal, it can knock down fences and walls and is very tough, only weak point is the wheels, i have been shot though the windows and survived, is it OP ? probably- "with great power comes great responsibility" So what now ?, do i just go around shooting everyone and thing i see ? nope. Lets think, the map is great, if you have a vehicle, but the spawn points are miles away from nothing, ok lets collect some gear then start picking people up, cool, i fill up the humvee with loads of gear from chopper crashes and from the barracks, and set off on the long road. So this is what i do, instead of killing everything in sight i help people, the humvee helps me do that, ive killed a lot of bandits had some great fun, helped a lot of people and they love it, they always ask for Lonewolf in sidechat and i always help where possible, but whats more, some guys (who played as bandits previously) have asked to join me and play my way, theses guys have even given up hacking to do this. Its like blackhawk down almost, bandits allover the place and a few survivors ;) I lose the humvee after about 4 days but now we have a base of operation with lots of vehicles, sometime it gets raided, we go take it back. So thats my sad little dayz adventure story written over a few glasses of wine, i just wanted to share this as proof that there really is more to do in dayz that just kill ppl, which by the way is not big hard or clever, its pretty easy really, not pulling the trigger is harder. /sorry for the babble, just wanted to try and express this.
  21. I am running the Fallujah map exclusively and do not see any setpos.log which was meant to detect teleporting i believe. How are people dealing with this ? Come to think of it, nothing seems to show up in logs anymore, seems like a waste of time and when the shit goes down i simply stop the server, nothing else i can do. Help ?

    security for tents and vehicles

Already requested IED's, the beartraps are lame. also suggested "keys" for vehicles and razorwire. You could try shooting out a wheel on the vehicle before you log out and carry a spare. Pretty difficult to stop things going missing though.
  23. reuben5150

Why do you even play dayz ?

Not so bad on chernarus, i know my way around 90% of it without a map, and it feels more like survival sat in a forest cooking some pig, but on Fallujah a vehicle is a must have. Our cherno server has 80 vehicles i believe.
  24. reuben5150

Why do you even play dayz ?

It does feel great, but perhaps allows too much freedom, eg killing without consequence. Not including hacking the biggest problem with the mod is player behavour, i hope Rocket has learned from the "experiment" because it really tells you a lot about why games do have boundarys, controls and yes, balance. After years of playing Battlefield and seeing how BF3 turned out, the attraction for me was the hardcore feel of Arma combined with the survival element, hoping that carries through to the standalone and leaves the garbage behind.
