Does anyone actually enjoy killing zombies in DayZ?
jubeidok replied to Awruk's topic in General Discussion
Not sure why so many people fight so hard to try and justify what they do. Pretty sure there was never any intention to make shooting 1-2 zombies every 20 minutes "fun". In the end though, at least the end I'm hoping for, shooting 50 zombies that flood into the building I'm in will be quite intense and fun at the same time. It was in the mod at least. -
And why is that? If I find a mag in an outhouse, guy got killed on a shitter. If I find an AK in a shed, some idiot got cornered in a shed and, well, you know the rest. I'm all for 'weighting' items to spawn in its logical home, but as long as you maintain a system where everything has x amount of places it can spawn in the world, you are just advocating hopping and creating a play style that shouldn't exist. With a weighted system you can then do something like: a 20% chance of spawn at a mil base, a 10% chance of spawn at a mil truck and then something like a 1% chance of spawning at any other spawner. So at least with a system like this, the hoppers don't take all the chances away from a legit player of ever finding that kind of loot. Will hopping ever go away? Probably not, especially since there will always be reverse server hoppers, hopping to find people rather than loot. But in the end, a chance for anything to spawn anywhere would sure as hell slow it down and would become something far greater than "complete nonsense".

Ya, I have to agree with this. There is very little evidence of improvement over all systems for what should be a years worth of work. I have to imagine that internally they are working on a build far more advanced than what they give us, the new engine even. There is far too little iteration occurring from build to build to suggest anything else. Art drops seem to be the most common that we get, which would make sense as this would probably be the easiest to port over to their new shit. Take loot spawning for example: we get a build where it's everywhere or it's nowhere and very little in between. With looting being a major part of the gameplay, you would think that this is something being worked on on a day to day basis. Therefore what we should see on a month to month release schedule should offer us vast improvements/changes over time. Has there been any evidence to suggest that? The thing I find the most astonishing however, are all the peeps that see this as a huge improvement over what they had last year when the only real difference is that there are far more places to go looking for a gun(I say it this way because it's what 99% of the community is doing). Pretty sure we're being led by a carrot on a stick here.

Gotta love these "I found this loot there, therefore it must always spawn there" threads. No one castle has a greater chance of an item spawning than the rest, they are all equal. On a side note, are the devs serious? They're old castle ruins so therefore swords must spawn there. Swords that have been left there, untouched for 100's of years. Brilliant! Nope, no one would ever have these hanging on a plaque on a wall or something. Predictable loot spawning is a joke and only promotes hopping.

Famous Quotes That Apply To DayZ..Post Here

When did people start hating on the game so hard?
jubeidok replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
This somehow turned into yet another KoS thread. How many years in a row are you people going to be talking in circles about this non-issue? You have absolutely no idea how many times you were watched and allowed to live, none of us do. Just give it a rest already or at least keep it in its designated thread. -
Cool. Can you move to North America so I can play on it? =P

Why do I get the feeling that people are running into these hackers on servers like "Super Duper Mega Uberizationated LOOTLOOTLOOT!!!!" or "COME JOIN MY SERVER PLEASE!!! 24/7 7AM | No Rain | No Cold | No Starvation | No Sickness | No challenge whatsoever!"? Also, you guys make me chuckle at your idea of what a Designer/Producer does and the game development process in general. It's understandable not to know if you aren't involved in it, just don't pretend to know. You just end up looking like a fool. Ok, I guess the above is off topic a bit for this thread so....I don't know where all the hate is coming from, but I'm sure each and every one of 'em has their reasons. Some may even differ from one another. -
Yup, one look at the server list and you can quickly come to the safe conclusion that the DayZ community is over populated with a bunch of pussies. The funniest part about it...we all spawn with a freakin' flashlight!!! What a waste. Flashlight for your rifle, a waste. Flashlight for your pistol, a waste. Headlamp, a waste. Gas lantern, a waste. Road flare, a waste. Chem lights, a waste. A sun that moves across the sky, rises in the east and sets in the west, a waste. Server admins, a waste. I sure hope server owners won't have control over that stuff once the game goes final, even as a private shard. Some of the best aspects of the game are now absent because of all the pussies playing this game. =( The one thing I will give them though, is that night time isn't nearly as intense and fun to play in without zombies everywhere.

In threads like these, how come nobody ever suggests taking it from someone who has already done all the hopping for you? It's not like you don't have a good idea where they're going to end up. And....I guess I'll also use this thread to slip this in there; if anything could spawn anywhere both hoppers and legit players could have their way. -
LOL. You come in a day later and felt the need to take a stab at me, eh. There was no back and forth going, no flame war brewing, but you just had to...well, be you I guess. I think everyone around here just needs to step back and relax a bit. It was the arbitrary 'brown noser' comment that goes with any brown noser thread, get over it. I guess everyone 'round these parts takes so much shit on a daily basis that it's easy to mistake such a comment as something hostile rather than just a smart assed poke in the ribs. Merry Christmas, you tightly wound bunch of nutzos!

You have to keep in mind that most people playing DayZ are sheep. Meaning they are playing because it is the 'in' thing to do, not because they actually enjoy what DayZ is or what it can be. This is the impression I get from browsing forums and from the players I've observed at least. They want gear quick and kills even quicker. To the point where a lot of the SA player base will waste an hour or so of their own time hopping, just to get to the point where they feel like they can now start playing the game. So yes, you get a large portion of a server's population that have decided they don't want to waste time playing the game so they instead decide to waste time not playing the game by sticking around a few key areas around the map. Twisted logic if you ask me. It's amazing how something as small as an average life span counter on a web site and a little number in the corner of your screen reminding you of how many days your character has been surviving for can change things though. Not sure why they decided to lean away from such things though.

I think you got something on your nose there, bud.

Looks like the cease fire was achieved today.

It would be sweet if they brought back the deck of cards so we could do this...

Wow, a bunch people getting excited over less to do. -
Of course it's going to get boring...there's no fucking zombies!
-
Hmm, so they are still working. I suppose I got a busted radio or something, because when I tried on this version I wasn't able to change my chat channel to the radio. I'll have to give that another shot then. In the previous version it was working for me, and I would do the same with the same results you've been getting. Dead silence. For most I imagine, it's just easier to load up a 3rd party app so that you can talk telepathically to your friends. Who wants to go through the trouble of earning such a right, eh?
-
So the radio is back to not working? Sad to see it go again. =( Even though I had yet to ever make contact with any other players using it. Also, has anyone found over spawning loot on this one? My run last night felt pretty balanced in terms of loot, from Solnichny to Goglovo.
-
Agreed, but they won't even use them. In the mod, vehicles were generally squirreled away somewhere in fear of losing them. That or I just happened to take the quietest and most inactive routes through Chernarus, because I rarely ever saw or heard any vehicles throughout my many journeys. The helo was probably the most common, ATV second. Perhaps, it's the peeps that were populating those 1000 vehicle servers that I avoided like the plague? In the end, I guess I should be a little more excited that others are excited about vehicles because that could mean a more intense experience if people actually use them. All is quiet, looting away and then sudenly, the roar of an engine at a distance, getting closer and closer. What to do?
-
Why are people so excited about a vehicle? It's never going to be like GTA. I'd take 100s of zombies over a measly vehicle any day of the week. It's pretty depressing that zombie numbers are not a priority in a 'surviving the zombie apocalypse' type game. Just remember, I said it from day one, zombies are on the cutting block. =(
-
1pp servers this time 'round? Also, will I be lucky enough to get a character reset? It was late, I was getting tired and busy playing GTA V on PS4 and allowed myself to get logged off in a red house. =(

Why haven't socks made their way into this game yet? I could only imagine what the footwear we're using is doing to our feet. Hell, I used to even pass up on many of the options because I knew the hell they were going to bring down on my feet. All in all, socks should be in this game.
