So you willingly waste your own time sort of playing this game to get yourself to a point where more traditional shooters allow you start? I find that funny.
-
Did you seriously just try to compare iron sighted SKS sway to LRS Mosin sway?
-
Advocates for over exaggerated sway used to get sniped from long distances. LOL, I kid. I'm sure eventually we'll see another change in this area as it does seem somewhat bugged that hold breath only steadies your crosshair for 0.5 seconds. Also, the jittery scope we had a while back was more authentic than the figure 8 system we have now, just feels ridiculous. Come on guys, our camera even sways when we're holding an axe. It's like we're feeling light headed and are close to passing out. Also...LOL at advocates for realistic sway that also back the magical properties of two sticks and a rag.

If you really want to know why people play the game as you say, an Ego-Shooter, there's a 113 page thread that pretty much explains it. Every time someone comes here in whines about this shit, you just throw more fuel on the fire. Play the game to have fun and take enjoyment out of each new life you are forced to start and you'll be shitting with ease in no time.

For those of you that have lost faith in DayZ...
jubeidok replied to pabloottawa's topic in General Discussion
Just to put things in perspective...The last project I was on had seen more iteration in the course of a month than this game has seen in 7-8. Anyone who really wants DayZ to succeed should be worried, have lost at least a lil faith. If you've spent any time in game development you would see that this team is being poorly managed. Didn't someone recently say that it takes 2-3 months of work to make a single unique structure? That's ludicrous! If that were the case on my last project, it would have never released. I just think there comes a point when you have to stop being a fanboy, with the wool over your eyes. It is OK to support something, play it regularly and still have legitimate concerns about the product. For some that seems impossible and if you voice any of those concerns your intelligence is put in question along with being berated by the 'alpha' statement. Early access or not, the product represents the company so shaky development practices will definitely lead to investors losing faith. It's only natural and you shouldn't feel ashamed to admit it. -
Absolutely. I've always wanted to take a seat at one of the many cafes around Chernarus. Just sit there, chillin', with a gun on the table as I wait for someone to wander by. Would probably surprise quite a few of them. The main issue with this would be the different heights of benches and other stuff you might feel you should be able to sit on. If the solution was to only allow sitting on chairs, I could accept that. Also, I guess backpacks would be another issue, but the universal ARMA fix for that has always been to remove/not draw the backpack. No need to change it up I guess.

I think you can go even further with this. Like wash your face because you have zombie blood all over it. Wash your hands because you just ate a can of the Chef with them or an orange and now they're all sticky. Don't want to be handling those weapons and ammo with sticky, dirty hands do you? I'm always amazed at the Chernarussian sewing kit technology every time I patch some clothing up. Their government really needs to release this stuff to the rest of the world, they wouldn't be such a poor country any more. This stuff is amazing, doesn't just patch holes in clothing, it restores them to factory default and removes all stains and dirt! Point being: if they ever angle those sewing kits towards authenticity, you might want to use some of that water to wash your clothes as well.

This is one of those areas where you have to remember that this is a game and some things have to done to accommodate gameplay. Having handguns more prevalent than rifles is good for gameplay in my opinion. Draws people into closer ranges in the early stages of their lives, which then drives more player interaction. Things like crafting a bow and the crossbow would also get a boost in usability as like someone else stated, a handgun is not ideal for hunting. It's just win-win all around if handguns become more prevalent.

Actually, there's small lengths of string everywhere, you just can't access them; like shoe laces and draw strings from hoodies.
-
Ok. Can they please either reduce armor from clothing.... Or
jubeidok replied to hothtimeblues's topic in General Discussion
My theory on what the problem is, is that all clothing is acting like Kevlar with the impact of the bullet being dispersed across the surface of the item, maybe even the entire collision box. That's why so many items get ruined from a single round. -
I got called a "fucking camper" LOL!!!

You forgot the most obvious one, condoms.

Please, bring it up again and again. Bring it up 100 times over until we get that big audio drop that we are all so desperately awaiting. Everything in the video was great, but I think the indoor and outdoor rain audio still fell short. When outdoors, we need to hear raining hitting multiple surfaces; the ground, the pattering on leaves, and even the players themselves. Rain will have a distinct sound hitting the bill of a baseball cap, so much in fact that the other audio in a scene should be ducked under that sound as it occurs very close to your ears. On the indoor scene I would image I should be hearing water dripping in more steady streams off the roof, slight pattering on what's left of the windows and maybe even some pattering on a gutter. On a positive note though, anyone notice that they now have audio for doors in ARMA III? Something I don't think would have ever happened without DayZ. =)

I don't see why people are saying dayZ isn't that fun.

I don't get how you play for such a long session without any zombie dodging or eradicating. I find real life camping a blast, in a video game however, not quite the same. The roadblock from long play sessions for me, is that it's too easy to loot and find what you need because there are rarely any obstacles. At least in the mod, you could spend an hour crawling through a small town like Msta, desperately trying not to disturb the herd. It was fun and each house you managed to get your ass into, was a relief. A time to stand up, stretch out those legs, have a breather and survey the land for your next destination. Sorry, I just can't go around pretending these zombies are dangerous. PS. I do play the game a lot, but it's purely out of addiction at this point. -
You know, I often wonder when browsing this forum, do people cry enough?
-
I think there are many things going on there, all sorts of of different personalities and justifications I suppose. I think a few of the main ones however are; to pad an imaginary statistic and to convince themselves that they would survive this hypothetical scenario in the real world, better than you are.
-
Aren't there other games for that?
-
I'm king of against super obedient police tracking dogs roaming the land just waiting for some smelly survivor to show up and start giving it orders. Other then that, yes, please, more ways of tracking people. Like distant shots, branches with fresh breaks, tracking a predator that's tracking a survivor or following a hoard that is gravitating towards death. Idk, stuff like that.
-
What don't people get about "survive as long as you can"? **Sorry, didn't read your post, just commenting on the words 'end game' used in your title

MO 2-16 5 or 6 tents loaded with gear, most likely by cheaters. I tried to destroy the tents, but that doesn't seem to work. I then started grabbing stuff and throwing it into the ocean, but was going to take forever so I am posting this. Go to that server > go to the top of the hill north of the ship and grab your fill. Do what you will with the gear. I wanted no part of that tainted shit so I didn't keep anything. The more poeple that go, the faster these will get cleared out. Unfortunely it's prob all for nothing, as they will just do it again and it will be a viscious cycle, but that server needs to be wiped. Peace.

Are grenades really a good item to have in game at this point?
jubeidok replied to huf757's topic in General Discussion
Well, currently there are a lot of windows and doorways you're not gonna wanna try throwing them through. Great for clearing open fields though. -
It's currently too easy to find what you are looking for so I decided to do something about it. My new thing right now is redistributing loot. I'll toss it this way or that way, hide it in hard to find and unexpected places. I'm calling it the Loot Redistribution Project(LRP). The below video is nothing special, just an example of what I am doing. If you're a vet and you too believe it's too easy to find what your looking for based on loot being in predictable places, please help out and spread that shit around. Let's make it so people have to play with their eyes open and think a little bit more as they traverse the game world.

With all those servers out there what were the chances that I would of ended up doing this on the same server and same towns as another one of you??? LOL. I tried not to disturb most of your work, but did make some re-redistributions. =P I also decided to start leaving notes that say that the town has been hit by the LRP.
-
Yes, caches. It's an idea I've had for a while now. Wouldn't it be cool if by some random chance that say, something like a train car or shipping container would contain a crap load of 1 type of item. From there it would be up to the players to try and defend it or ration it out? Something like that.

LOL!!!!! Wow, just wow.
