What do yu want in DayZ servers these days?
jubeidok replied to sneakydudes's topic in General Discussion
So what I gather, is most of you want the end product. I would think that would be obvious simply based on the fact you bought into early access. All I would like from a server now-a-days is for it to be populated by real players instead of all the sheep running the coast. -
This highlights another problem with early access development and that's using the the statement as a scapegoat. Yes, alpha is a good excuse for things like bugs and incomplete systems or things that have yet to be implemented, but it is not an excuse for why we haven't had to change the way we play for over a year. About the only thing that has changed is where we find automatic weapons.

A huge part of this thread seems to be about a guy who prefers playing 1pp, but plays in 3pp for the sake of his stream due to player numbers on 1pp vs 3pp. To that I say, can't you just play in 1pp on a 3pp server? I do it and since you sound as experienced in the game as I, you can too. I will not accept the argument of doing so gives the rest of the server an advantage over you because it does not. If someone is intent on parascoping from behind cover like a coward, you can't see them in 3pp or 1pp so there is no difference. The only difference is that you choose not to. You choose to take on that extra level of challenge, thus making the game a little more intense, no? As for the direction of the game, I have one main concern; the producers. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the producers on this project are in over their heads. Everyone else is good to go, but the ones deciding the schedule and keeping the team and project on track are dropping the fucking ball. It's just one bonehead decision after another with very little iteration from one update to another. To me, it doesn't matter what you say is coming, it matters what you show me. The only thing that matters to me as a player is what goes into every new build that gets released, because that's what I get my hands on, that's what I learn from, that's what teaches me the game. What's currently in the game is what dictates how I go about tackling any given situation. I image it's the same for most of you too. So what they are doing is playing a dangerous game. If you have the run speed at a ridiculous 42kph for over a year, what do you expect from a player base that has been conditioned to that when it gets taken away? Will you be expecting positive feedback at that point, does anyone? What do you think will happen when a million players who are being preconditioned to finding canned food in every other house all of a sudden can't find shit? What happens to the voice of 1 million pseudo fanboys when their average life span drops from 1.5 hours to 20 minutes? This is a major factor of early access development and something I don't think the producers are lending much thought to; player patterns, tendencies and habits. You are forming them, right here, right now at this stage of development and 1.25 years in as awfully long time to get set into your ways. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be anywhere near these forums if and when these major changes start to occur. PS. I will never get over just how many things they felt were more important to get into the game ahead of lots and lots of zombies.

Spend more time in school, listening and less time on video game forums.

Having the same issue, haven't figured it out yet. I'll post back if I do. I also had this issue with BP and fixed it, turned out to be an issue with having to enter a game through arma3 rather than the launcher

Have you ever run into the only other guy on the server?
jubeidok replied to IgnobleBasterd's topic in General Discussion
You're all a bunch of sissies. I'm glad that there seems to be some peeps putting their cheats to good use by policing these empty servers. -
Ya, it makes me wish they didn't release new additions to the map bit by bit and instead kept it all internal until all the new stuff was complete, then releasing a huge new map update all in one drop. That way at least half the map would be all new to us. This would of then allowed them to swap the spawn points to the new half, allowing vets to feel lost again. For a while at least.

There will always be some people that insist on taking the easy route, cheating themselves of an experience. Oh well. I had a good time learning how to find myself in foreign terrain using the map and compass back in the mod. Two items I'll never have a need for anymore though as I've played so much by now it's impossible to get lost. A new map a year or two down the road would be really cool.

...that your artists rendition of a hockey stick is an insult to Canadians around the globe! Did they use one of those lil souvenir sticks that they give away to all the kids at the game for reference? I'm really surprised that more Canadians haven't spoken out about this. Don't be scared my fellow Canucks, let your voices be heard! We will not stand for poor renditions of our beloved hockey sticks!!!

Now see, this one was worth reading. Kudos mofo!

Hey, I thought that's what the whole thread was going to be. It's kind of funny how the make believe responses have gotten more love than the ones with video proof. Maybe there's still a market for text adventures after all. And yes, it's true, my ego is a little hurt that you're not praising me. =P

Cannot use an improvised suppressor with a mosin compensator
jubeidok replied to trev186's topic in General Discussion
Does it suppress the muzzle flash though? I haven't tried on the Mosin yet, just the SKS, but I don't know the answer to this either way because no one plays in these pathetically bright nights. -
It's a clever way of whining, I'll give you that.

What is it about DayZ that it robbed people of their sense of humor?

Totally on board with this kind of stuff. Can we think of any other tracking methods based on what we currently have in the game, make this a global tracking thread? - I was just in game and came across a can of spray paint, 75% remaining. I knew someone had been there, but how long ago? So I thought it would be pretty cool if you could touch the nozzle. Wet paint would mean someone would have been there within how ever many minutes it takes for the paint to dry(5-10 minutes?). - With a vehicle, touch the hood. A warm engine could alert you to some near by looters. - Feel the nozzle of a water pump for moisture. Once again, a wet nozzle would tell you that someone has used it within x amount of minutes. And of course a rainy day would throw that all out of wack. - If we ever get empties back, cans of food and soda could also be examined to give us a rough idea of how along someone was there. - Find some ruined clothing, is it dry or wet? I'm no tracking expert and this is just stuff off the top of my head, things I would do. I'll add more if I come up with anything new. I should also add that the beauty of such methods is that they're all text based, aside from the empty cans, so no extra art would be required.

^ Not Canadian.

I'd never use it, but I'm not against that. Don't forget, the Americans have their baseball bats too.

In response to your sig...It's a hill.

Here's another one for you. May or may not have lead to a kill, but a solid long range hit either way... http://www.twitch.tv/jubeidok/c/4721985

Some thoughts about zombies and stuff...
jubeidok replied to ScorePoint's topic in General Discussion
Lol. You drink too much Evian. -
What? No recordings? I thought this was going to be thread with lots of nice vids showcasing their long range prowess. Not a single one? This one isn't super long range, maybe 600-650, but shooting from an elevated position so zeroed to 500. He was on the move and in a tight space, so I think it's still a pretty sweet shot... Oh yeah, the shot is at the 1:42 mark.

Or you can just play a game that is better suited to ur limited time slot for playing games. You know that rush ur talking about? It goes away when u know you can get it all back in 10 minutes.
-
Yup, I second this. Was talking to some dude who somehow already new my name and I was a little blown away when he told me that it was because he checked my pulse. Dude was standing like 3-5 feet in front of me. If there's no animation for some guy reaching out and trying to touch me, I would prefer it not to happen. Because otherwise, I would be like ewe, get your filthy hands off me you damn dirty ape!

Broke both legs but no wood sticks
jubeidok replied to Lunatic_fringe420's topic in General Discussion
As opposed to the metal and stone ones or the ever elusive liquid sticks?
