Is there a trick to firing the CZ527? Got a mag and the gun together, at long last, and tried to save my ass from a hopper with it and it wouldn't fire. At first I thought I had the LMB bug, but relogged and tried my axe. Worked fine. Switched to the CZ527 and nope, wont fire. Does the CZ527 have a safety we don't know about or something? Hmm, I just realized I painted it. Is that old Mosin bug now present on the CZ? -
Unless it's Battle Royale though, right? You know, the game where you have to wait for 29 other people to join, that usually takes 15-20 mins and you might only survive for 5. You would wait. You know how I know you would wait? Because you play DayZ in it's current state. Because you play a game where you don't really want to have to spend time gearing up, but you do anyways because you want to play with the rest of us. You will even go as far as to waste your own time running around on an empty server just to do so, so that you can eventually join a populated server and finally get to "start" playing the game. Ya, you would wait.
-
I'm not trying to tackle the rate/difficulty of gearing up. I'm simply stating some pros that would come out of moving to this type of system. I think that you may be choosing to ignore a significant factor in why it is even easy to gear up on a full server(stable) however, and that is because more than half those players have already geared up on an empty server and have now joined a full server to go looking for trouble. You ever wonder why you can be the 40th player to join a server, being at the bottom of the list of players, and within 5-10 minutes you will be near the top of the list? This type of player turn-around on servers is unnatural and is most likely occurring due to player deaths, they now have to go back to hopping or gearing up on an empty server. So that and the servers are restarting every 1-2 hours, take those 2 elements away and I bet you'll start to find it a lot harder to gear up on a full server. The problem that I am attempting to address with this suggestion is the ratio of full servers to near empty servers. People that are playing on empty servers are cheating both themselves and other players out of the experience, especially with the current state of zombie numbers and the ease of dispatching said zombies. With no players and no zombies, what are you really doing on an empty server? There will be no surprises, no unseen danger, no intensity what so ever. So these people are just playing to see what's behind door number 3?
-
I think you're wrong. People would wait, you would wait and it wouldn't even be long. You have to keep in mind that the only reason why you think it would take a long time for a server to fill up is because of the shear amount of people that are purposely joining low pop servers in order to gear up. Those same peeps then once geared up, move into position and log into a full server. If you don't see this as a current problem then I can only come to one conclusion, you're part of that problem. Another thing that may be skewing your perspective on this is the current state of stable servers, where most are on a reset timer of 1-2 hours so you have set in your mind that the servers would always be resetting and therefore you would always be waiting. Stable servers won't always be like this. EXP servers are currently running on a 10hr reset schedule. So you're telling me that having to wait a few minutes for 19 other players you join your 40 slot server once every 10 would be so much of a pain in the ass for you that you would stop playing the game all together? Ya, I don't think so.

Cool, back to playing on real servers that aren't resetting every 1-2 hours. Back to leaving loot stashes that people will have a chance to find, even after a reset. =) -
Agreed. My biggest disappointment with the SA has been the lack of any real improvements over the zombies in the mod. You would think that would have been one of their main goals before ever releasing a SA, early access or not. Zombies, not matter what version, slow moving Romero zeds or the new 28 Days Later, fast and furious kind do not stand and trade blows with you. You shouldn't be able to box a zombie. They should be grabbing, tackling and biting, but I'm afraid we will never get there. =(

There is 100%, clear as day difference, between; single key mapped default, single key mapped to L Shift and double key mapped to L Shift + hold RMB I can make a vid if you guys want to see it.
-
I disagree. I think a certain level of blood and gore could change things dramatically. Imagine the impact it could have when the player you have just been teamed up with over the past 2-3 hours gets his brains blown out in front of you and the blood and chunks hits your screen. I think the impact that would have you would be much greater than what it is now, a payer falling rather unrealistically(currently terrible ragdoll) into a ragdoll. I think audio is an area that can boost the feelings you have for other players as well, blood curdling screams. There is way too much silence in this game, especially in situations where players are taking damage. I want to better feel the pain my character or the character I am attacking is going through. I can almost guarantee that you're going to feel a little different about hacking that person up if there is some proper audio and gore to go along with it. Not the greatest SFX reel, but you get the point. I'm sure there would be a % of the community that would go against your character having a voice beyond the one you use when talking into your mic, but I believe it is needed. People just are't going to role play to the extent of pretending they are in pain so that pain needs to be represented by more than just visuals.

Hmmm, I can outrun them all the time. They seem to have 2 versions, ones that are as fast as me and ones that are slower than me. Personally, I think they should be faster than me. It's the only way I'm going to be terrified if I agro them.
-
OK, so something I just noticed. I decided to delete the default mapping of the 'hold RMB' so that I just had a mapping for L Shift(which is still double mapped for walk). When I did this I still had massive sway occurring when holding my breath, but when I went back to the default mapping + the L Shift mapping, I was once again able to settle my crosshair down by holding my breath. So you need to have them both mapped.
-
Maybe you guys already know this, but the first thing to do is to remap your hold breath button. As someone had previously suggested to me, L Shift is a good option. If you keep it default, rmb, you will not get the benefit of holding your breath when using scopes that zoom. Once you do this, you will notice you can get your crosshair to tighten up and settle down for maybe 1-1.5 seconds before the sway takes over again.

Ha, I like it. Good stuff. =) I think they even pulled a lil Dark City on us, as we have new cities popping up overnight. I would also imagine it's at some point in the future, where they must have some sort of mind control. Someway to prevent us from even wanting to try and get into those locked rooms and buildings.

The last note I found was one that called me a piece of shit for killing on EXP and so on. I found it rather amusing, as the guy had stripped down and put his hands up. I then told him I don't want anything from him, he can keep his stuff and go on about his day. He put all his shit back on and then put his hands up again, now walking towards me. I shot him in the head. I prob should of done it as soon as I saw him though, as he was one of those D-bags blasting music into his mic. Found a few notes along the lines of; bam you're dead or you're stupid for stopping to read this... They must have got tired of waiting though, as there was no ambush to speak of. Another memorable one I had found on a victim was one that was this big long speech about how he was friendly and all he wanted to do was help. Again, amusing, as the player had just tried to shoot me in the back and missed. I spun around and didn't. =P I usually sign my notes, but sometimes forget. Let's make that a thing for this thread too, sign your notes with your forum name. -JubeiDOK

What type of Project Management is the DayZ dev team using?
jubeidok replied to evidica's topic in General Discussion
Exactly. That information benefits them, not us and has no business being in our hands. People need to understand the privilege they are being given. You're paying 50% for a game and to choose if you want to play it early or wait. I think people also need to understand that they are stress testers and provide the team with valuable usage data every time they play. That's it. You're not internal testers who's job is to break the game. Ya, there's a public bug tracker for you to use, if you want to. In my opinion though, you should be teaching these publishers that they can get us to test for free. I'm a tester, you want me to work for you, pay me. It's the stance you should all have too. -
EXP - Map now shows the players exact position
jubeidok replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Not a big deal. Might be evidence of a future "Beginner" level of difficulty. The mod had it too, but not on hardcore or vet servers. I imagine it will be the same here. DayZ made me learn how to read a map and use it to navigate an environment that I had no previous knowledge of. It wasn't long before I didn't need it anymore. Bottom line, the people that want to cheat themselves out of an experience are going to do it no matter what, so I don't see an issue with letting them do it legitimately. -
=) It's tough and from time to time I may say eff it and do it anyways. It's not really a big deal at all if anyone does either. As long as they aren't hopping, farming or cycling then they are OK with me....as long as they also aren't cheating, duping, ghosting, comlog'in, gamma n brightness changing, FOV changing and so on. =P

There is a new bug where the animation is throwing off your aim, moving your cross hair. To get a melee head shot now, aim to the right of the head, above the shoulder and you should hit the head every time, Fire Axe vs Splitting Axe - I feel the difference we are feeling here is that the ranges now differ. The fire axe has a longer handle, so I believe when we are swinging with it at the the distance we were used to, the head of the axe is actually going past the target. Or maybe it was just the aim off the right thing. =)

Nah, if you went back through the past broadcasts you could actually see the evolution of that character. It's just from 3 days of looting, man. I'm so anti-hopping/anti-farming that's it's not even funny. I'm so anti-hopping that when I end a session after searching a town or base, the next time I login I will play as though I already searched and just move on from there. I will not backtrack and re-search. I'm even appalled that you would ask such a question. =P

Some shameless self promotion here, I am the only legit player I have ever seen streaming this game. Admittedly, I haven't watched all the streamers out there, but from what I have watched of the popular ones, they all play cheap and cheat themselves out of the experience. I have not turned any of my runs into youtube vids though, just keep what's in my past broadcasts. I'm pretty sure not too many people would find watching me play DayZ all that entertaining and I don't blame you, without hundreds of zombies it's the worlds most boring deathmatch. The one thing I can say about watching me play though, is you are going to learn something. You'll come out of there with at least one new thing you'll want to add to your bag of tricks. =P I'm a precision gamer. I don't spaz, I don't mash, I don't cheat or exploit. I keep it real. I play to entertain myself and if in some way that can entertain someone else, then great. If not, then oh well. =)

Ya, haven't seen any since the one. Props to the guy that went through the trouble of getting one to follow him that deep into Hobo.
-
On the exp build, did they finally place some zed spawns in Hobo? I've only been down there once so far and didn't notice any, but I did see one down there once from overwatch on one of the cliffsides. Did someone manage to get it to follow them all the way there or did it spawn there(west side of town, near police station)?

Why Randomly Spawning All Over The Map Is A Bad Idea
jubeidok replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
^ I wonder if these people realize that their whole discussion revolves around the inability to deal with loss. The saying still applies to the items you have stored in your tent. With that said, if your whole argument is to try and avoid people spawning near something like the NWAF so they don't get to gear up with mil grade stuff before you get a chance to, then I would pose to you this question... What is the difference between lucking out and spawning near a virgin airfield or lucking out and spawning behind a fully geared player? No matter what, any time you are a new spawn, there will be x amount of people around the map that have top tier gear. Doesn't matter where they spawned, doesn't matter where they are or how they got it. The point is they are out there and you wont know it unless you happen to run into them. Luck is a part of this scenario, it's a part of any life. It doesn't matter if that luck occurs at the beginning or 3 days into a life, it will eventually run out. And who knows, maybe someone else's misfortune becomes your fortune. In the end, a random spawn point system is no different than any non-new spawn player logging into the server after you have spawned. -
Apparently I've NEVER eaten rotten fruit before...
jubeidok replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
So, did you guys do this just to see what would happen? -
The random and constant noises in this game annoy me.
jubeidok replied to Acher0n's topic in General Discussion
The player sounds you hear are actual players. You are hearing their sounds even though they're not even close to you. Why? Not sure, but if I was testing the game I would have most likely figured it out by now. It's becoming worse because I think people are starting to figure it out and are now using it to grieve other players. The two most common I'm hearing are people utilizing the crossbow bug and the click a light on and off. They simply just run around the map doing this, causing a lot of garbage sound for other players. Sad =( -
Why no 24h-cycle servers with nighttime ?

It's a good time to be playing experiemental if this is what you are looking for.
