Animals? Great, one more thing that will outnumber the zombies in this game. Woot! Zombies are going to be extinct by the time this thing goes beta. The worst part about it is that some people are cheering/excited about adds like this. We should all be pissed that there are no zombies, but no, let's instead all celebrate the implementation of hunting!

How many of you find a handgun before ever finding a rifle?
jubeidok posted a topic in General Discussion
I wonder if I'm alone in wishing that handguns were the most common of guns to find in the game. I pretty much always find a rifle, multiples even, before ever running into a handgun. For me, I think this is backwards. I personally would love to only have an FN or something for a lengthy period of time before lucking out on a rifle find. I think it's pretty fun to loot towns while having to chamber a single round to take out zeds, frantically running around to find a good spot or buying enough time to stop and chamber another round before being able to kill that second zed you aggro'd . Then, when you find that elusive handgun mag, oh man, what a relief it would be. As it stands now, I rarely end up having to use my handgun once I have one. There just isn't enough zeds to cause me to run out of ammo or want to conserve it for players. That coupled with weapon switching bugs has me keeping the handgun in the vest/holster. =( -
How many of you find a handgun before ever finding a rifle?
jubeidok replied to jubeidok's topic in General Discussion
OK, cool, so I'm not alone. =) It's funny though, after posting this and playing on the latest release, I sort of ended up finding a handgun before a rifle. I had actually found a shotgun first and then a .45, but found ammo for the .45 before any shotgun shells. So here I was running circles around a group of houses in Goglovo, doing the whole Zombieland thing, in order to have enough time to throw another single round in my .45 so I can headshot the pesky zeds that won't leave me alone. It was fun. On a side note, I don't get why people want to assume that everyone left everything in Chernarus nice in tidy with everything put away right where it's supposed to be when all hell broke loose??? Why do people want to assume that that gun they found is in the spot that the owner had deemed appropriate for it and not simply that it's a dropped or discarded item from someone fleeing in panic or that has been caught and turned??? -

See, now you are starting to seem like a bit of a wack job. You insist on going on and on about how there is no reason to lie, yet, only one person in this thread has called you "full of shit" and it wasn't me. Then you go on to tell us just how much you have going on in your personal life and how meaningless this is, but you continue to keep this discussion going. Why? What do you win here? I have nothing but time, yours is limited. You tell me to think before I post, maybe you should head your own advice. It sounds like your time could be better spent in the real world. -
Yup, I can confirm that. There are also a couple of single rooms in houses that are back to not spawning loot. Another thing I had noticed is that Gorka had no zeds. Anyone else to confirm? And it also appears that everyone and their mamma had owned hard hats before the outbreak.

LOL. The street goes both ways, dude. When I claimed the same thing as you, to have never been killed in this game, how did you respond? With a statement alluding to disbelief, I believe. The fact is, why should anyone believe anything from an anonymous source that provides no evidence to its claims? I'm sure reporters would love living in the world you live in, the news would be AWESOME every single night! Lastly, the above quote sounds more like an admission of guilt due to the fact I never questioned your integrity. The video you posted did that for us. You came to that assumption all by yourself. -
Post what sounds you feel need to be added to the game
jubeidok replied to helcol's topic in General Discussion
All good stuff. Sadly though, I don't think audio in this game will ever be where we want it to be. It just might be too expensive. I hope I'm wrong though. Actually, maybe it's just me. I just feel that in this type of game, where there's perma death, a vast environment where people can be anywhere at any time and even appear out of thin air(logging in for a session), the players need to have sounds attached to everything they do. Trying to sneak up on someone, but you hug the wall too closely and there should be audio for you rubbing up against the wall. Not to mention the speed you should have to travel to minimize the sound of your footsteps should be extremely slow. Something like Ghost Recon's ALT walk. All sounds should have dry and wet versions. We all know what happens when running on a tiled floor with wet sneakers. Proper ducking on environmental sounds when nearby sounds are occurring. My list can go on for some time, so I'll stop here. Overall though, I'd just like to have the players creating more sounds from their actions so that you have to be a lil' more clever when trying to be undetectable. -
I did the same thing once, except once I had my shot lined up, I read him the bible. Amazingly enough he stayed in my sights throughout the whole thing. I shot him once I was done and said "Amen."

Oh, don't get it twisted. I'm not upset. I think it's funny. I can't believe you don't see how funny it is to post that vid, with the claims that go along with it. It's like going to court and presenting evidence that is a recording of the accused committing the murder that he stands trial for, but doesn't actually show the accused committing the murder. What if the "charlie bit my finger" vid didn't actually show charlie biting his finger? There may or may not be a rule book for posting videos, but there is something called integrity. -

I dind't head your advice and watched the video. I got a good laugh out of it. I didn't know we were allowed to post vids of a kill, but not actually show the kill, In that case, here is a video of me going on a 10 person kill streak in and around Novy Sabor with just a 1911 and 2 mags. Unfortunately, due to a recording fail, I only was able to catch the last bit where a hacker turns me into a chicken. -

Cool, I didn't know we were allowed to discount any deaths that we caused on purpose. In that case, I'm right up there beside you with never being killed in Standalone. Woot!!! -
Precisely the suggestion I was looking to make. Have a few different digital cams that can be found, batteries to power them. Range from a tiny lil kiddy themed low res cam with no zoom to mid range Sureshot style cams with some zoom capability, all the way to a super high end digital cam with a telephoto lens for some extreme voyeurism. With all, allowing the players to take pictures to visually document their journey. Would be cool to find a cam on a dead player, view the photos and a get a bit of a snapshot into just how long they have been around, where they may have found the camera and all the different places they have visited since. Or to find a cam that ends up only having one picture saved, a man running towards the camera with an axe held high above his head.

I think this kind of stuff needs to be implemented for mood and atmosphere first, and then how it affects the players. Heavy rain and snow is a great way to naturally cut down visibility and add tension. Rain storms would also help to mask noise levels. Some people say they would hide inside as it rains, while some may see that as a great time to be out looting. Thunders storms? Great, now I can snipe those lil ants down there, masking my shots with the crackle of thunder and lightning! If you introduce people to the positive aspects first, then you might have an easier time slipping in the negatives without losing players. I would also think that the negatives have to be severely watered down. Right now I think you get soaked in the rain a tad bit early. I think that side of gameplay would work better and be more widely accepted by the players if you went the other direction with it, take longer than normal to get soaked or cold, especially once that starts to mean something to the player. The other side of weather that I would love to see improvement on is the audio. When it rains I would like to feel like I'm there, in the rain. That the buildings around me are there, in the rain as well. This means hearing the dripping of rain through and off gutters, hitting multiple surface types, changing the sounds a player makes when walking on wet surfaces or dry surfaces with dripping wet clothes. Audio should be huge for a game like this, and is no where close to where it needs to be. So here's hoping for big changes in this department in the future.

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year

In an attempt to stop all ironic douchebag finger pointing loops, I hereby publicly declare myself the Uber Douche! So from now on, when anyone feels the need to call someone a douche, just stop and remember that it's actually me that's the douche, not him. Peace, brothas. -

All I'll say is; with or without Dean, by the time this game goes final, you'll still have problems with ladders. -
I'm confused right off the bat. Is this the journey of the wanderer or the path of the warrior? It can't be both.

Cool. I'm just still wondering though, how do you un-starve yourself? I also haven't figured out how to un-break my leg yet, anyone?

How does this Happen? Bug or Glitch? Sneaky Bastard
jubeidok replied to Killicon's topic in General Discussion
Probably not an aimbot, but likely he was using the cheats that shows a players name and their distance from you, maybe even their facing. I'm not sure about the last one. If someone knows where you are in a room and have a great frame rate, they can make that shot quite easily. Also, on a side note, there were plenty of times when playing GR on the PC where I just managed to luck out and finish a lean around a corner with my crosshairs right over someone's face. When you play a game long enough you really start to be able to, almost subconsciously, predict where a player's hiding spot will be and where to start your lean. In your scenario, I would bet on the a name tag cheat as it sounded like he went gunning for your house as soon as you logged in. I've experienced seemingly the same thing before. -
This looks more like a betrayal masked with a bs story. No way 1 guy opening a door get's the drop on 4 guys watching a door. Not to mention, 4 guys hiding in the same room, talk about stupid.

With realism being a big theme behind this game, can we add some of it to melee? Especially the axes. Axes are kind of heavy, you are not going to be swinging them repeatedly with enough force to cause damage beyond bruising. A swing and a miss could mean deadly consequence, especially on a downward thrust. And no, you are not going to be swinging an ax while on the run. Try it, I dare ya. What am I proposing? - Ad some weight and cool down time to the animation - Players should have to set their feet if they expect accuracy and a deathly blow -or- running charge up, with the ax held above the head, but it's a single downward thrust with mass force behind it, but with a longer cool down time - A chance of self injury for a swing and a miss, along with follow through that pulls you view off target Thoughts?

You mean running around until you see an animal in an open field or patch of forest and shoot it, sorry man, that's not exactly hunting. -
I'm not a fan of this shit either. If I see a stupid msg like that, and I've seen worse, I just quit and find another. I also refuse to play on servers that announce they are 24/7 day. Even though pretty much every server operates this way, you're even more of a pussy for announcing it.
