Bruising from repetitive gun fire.
m.w. vindicator replied to amlaborde@windstream.net's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I am not sure if this is authentic. If you can show a credible site that talks about this, then maybe it should be considered. But I at the moment I don't think a little pain would really affect accuracy or precision. WOOT! 600th post -
THE ANTI GAME - STAY THE COURSE
m.w. vindicator replied to shadowjack's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I witnessed that forum go to hell during the massive CoD v Halo flame wars. I agree a community can ruin a game to an extent. I am not a developer and have no experience in that sort of thing. I admit, some of my suggestions aren't that great in retrospect. I have some faith is Rocket though. He seems to consider each suggestion very carefully. -
Arma2 + DayZ Historical Lore 1.2
m.w. vindicator replied to scoffield77@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I feel like a large part of the players of the mod couldn't careless about story and the origins of the virus. There are of course others who would love some back story. And then there are others who would love a full on story. I personally fall into the "some back story" category. I also feel like the people who want a full story are a small minority. There is a happy medium of some having lore/context to please the folks that like that stuff and making it unobtrusive for those who just want to play the game. And as per usual, it is your job to find it Rocket. GL HF! P.S. I hope that made sense. -
Arma2 + DayZ Historical Lore 1.2
m.w. vindicator replied to scoffield77@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree. If anything story wise were to be added. It would have to be unobtrusive. The main focus needs to be the player and "Your Story". That is paramount and it is what brought people to the mod. Any back story or scientific origins of the virus would be secondary. Many players probably could not careless about back story. Therefore, it shouldn't be throw at those players. There are however, others who love exploring and delving into the origins of a universe. I am one of these people and would really appreciate if the things in the OP made it into the game further down the road. -
Arma2 + DayZ Historical Lore 1.2

I read this thread while listening to the Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl soundtrack. Needless to say, I fully support the idea. I would love little historical stories littered across the map. I can already see myself being killed by some 1337 bandit :bandit: while reading a story. that 1337 bandit will think he is so stealth! :D In Stalker, looting bodies can give you clues on how the person died. It is fun and unobtrusive. -

So today I decided to check out Namalsk. I played Lingor but I always loved Chernarus more (Lingor does have the zombie mood for me, still a great map). I can say that Namalsk nails the infected/zombie mood. There is cool new ambient sounds that are quite frankly terrifying. I am scared to play at night. The map has a dark look to it and it is always cloudy. I wasn't using an in game map so I would be fully immersed. I spawned in a field. The name of the nearest town appeared but I couldn't see any civilization. The sound of the ocean and the wind was dominate. I walked to a small ridge and saw a factory complex about 500m away. I started running for there. The factory looked similar to the one at Dolina in Chernarus. I began looting and dodging Zeds. I was hit once but I found an ax I heard some more aggros but there was no zeds around me. I called out in direct chat "Anyone around" To my surprise someone answered and they were on the roof. I met the guy and we started looting. Namalsk's loot tables are different and food is very rare. We looted the area and started following the road. We found an office building and a bunch more buildings. We gathered medical supplies from the hospital and went into the supermarket. There was literally nothing in it but empty cans. No food or drinks. maybe some flares and other less useful things but no food. Then another guy showed up. he joined our party and we found him an ax Finally one of the party members had a friend and he joined the posse. One guy knew of a military base and we decided to go there. The journey was long and we met several zeds on the way. Namalsk has huge snowy mountains that actually make you colder if you go there. We followed a narrow mountain road and after awhile the base came into site. It was bound to be a hub of activity. We only had melee weapons and approached cautiously. The base was huge and we were rolling in guns and ammo. But we committed the classic DayZ mistake. We let the loot get to our heads. We totally let our guard down. A lone bandit killed me and i died. I later confirmed that another member of the group was also killed. I am unsure what happened to the other two, but is likely they died. that bandit killed us four. Later he killed another guy in the same area. He knew the map well and knew didnt let the loot get to his head unlike my posse. Lesson learned, the hard way GG onii-(something) What are your Namalsk stories

Are you talking about aiming dead zone? Because personally I definitely don't like that and I think it should remain optional.
-
A convincing argument. I guess the pro's of removing the crosshair outweigh the con's
-
Sorry that I misunderstood you. But I still think there should be some sort of crosshair. Whether it is a dot or circle isn't that important, yet.
-
I never suggested aim assist. lol I am thinking a faint white circle. Some thing very unobtrusive is key.
-
I do really like the idea of an intense learning curve that should punish new players. Even the mod's veterans should have to face a learning curve. No crosshair would help this. I still feel like a crosshair is authentic.
-
Removing most UI would be good. ACE 2 already removed ammo count and I like that. In ACE there is a text description of the mag's weight. I think that the crosshair should be a static circle in the center of the screen. It shouldn't follow your gun. All it should represent is where you "think" your aiming. This would allow the crosshair to be used for actions like opening doors and would make it impossible to hit anything at range without ADS. The maximum range that the crosshair should be vaguely useful for shooting should be about ~30-50 meters.

They is no such thing as a hack free experience in online play. People will always find ways. There is however, a 99% hack free experience.
-
 I don't think crosshairs will ruin the games authenticity or difficulty. There are so many things in DayZ that don't evolve fighting and make the game difficult.
-
What is your reasoning?
-
Crosshair's aren't really unrealistic. That is Shacktac's POV. They say that IRL you pretty much know where your pointing your gun. Maybe a ultra basic dot would be good. The current crosshair is too precise. Another option would be a large circle. This is less precise than a dot and represents that you are aiming in the general vicinity of the circle. Look at it like third person. Third person is "unrealistic". But IRL you know what your body is doing. That is why there is third person, you can see what you would know IRL. IRL you would kind of know where you were aiming and that should be represented. While it might not be "realistic" it think it is authentic.
-
I love night personally. I think flashlights should be worked on because they are odd. As for the darkness, I think it is authentic.

I am fairly certain that Rocket mentioned in a tweet that Zeds were running indoors. -
