I agree with your points. I am not worried about sales. DayZ has shown that it will get sales. But like I said, uneducated consumers are going to buy the alpha and complain. Their complaints will probably be legitimate, but complaining about an alpha accomplishes nothing but stirring up rage. Bug reporting is what educated consumers will do and many will get angry with all the "CoD kiddies" and "KoS n00b bandits" ranting on the forums :lol: I guess the point of my post is to warn people about the inevitable. I for one will pay no attention to the ridiculous volumes of complaints. I will stick to bug reporting and making suggestions like I always have. Pusta. The very first town I looted. I remember like it was yesterday. It was about 5 oclock in the evening. I found a revolver and a czech backpack and I thought I was a high roller. Made it all the way Novy Sobor before running about of bandaids. Died in a field, firing my AKM to make sure no one could use my 1337 weapon. It was getting dark.

It will be interesting to see the footage. But... The only point of going to show is to show off the game and build hype. Correct me if I am wrong, but DayZ: Alpha as Fuck doesn't really need the hype, until it is ready to be called just DayZ. When we can call the game just DayZ without any adjectives like "alpha" or "beta" then open the flood gates to the masses. Even Rocket him self kind of wishes for a soft release as he recently stated in a stream (I hope I am not taking the statement out of context) But if the unwashed masses (a.k.a gaming consumers) see flashing lights and "DayZ" they will rush to find a release date and as soon as the game comes out they will buy it w/o doing a second of research. Sorry for sounding cynical, but lets be honest, it could happen. Even if the E3 booth literally says "DayZ: Alpha as Fuck" people might only read to the semi-colon and buy the game in its crappy state. Then these people will find all these bugs and lack of content and whine like no tomorrow. The Forums and Reddit will undoubtedly be a mess and angry words like "Fanboy" and "hater" will be flying around everywhere. TotalBiscuit hit the nail on the head when he called DayZ a desperation genre. Let me explain. There are no other games like DayZ. But zombie survival is something that people want to play REALLY BADLY ( I can't emphasize how badly they want to play enough). Some gamers are desperate to play a game like this. Look at the WarZ. That game was crap and yet many people bought it because they were desperate to play "zombie survival". Had they done two minutes of research watching a review they would have realized that it was crap, but they were so desperate and they didn't. We all saw what happened to WarZ. I fear the same thing could happen to DayZ. Even if it was half as bad as what happened to Hammerpoint, it could ruin a lot of peoples opinions. Desperate uneducated consumers might buy the alpha game and cause untold amounts of trouble. I am probably being too cynical, but Dean, and Bohemia should keep working hard but tread carefully :) Best of luck! :thumbsup:

Hey there and welcome to the forum. Congratulations on educating yourself about the product you wish to buy. You are already a better consumer than everyone that pre-ordered Aliens: Colonial Marines. Now seriously The closed alpha is just for forum and Reddit moderators along with Bohemia Interactive guys. They have all the people they need for this. We will be getting the public alpha on steam sometime in the future. It will probably an okay game but will get much better as time goes along. There will NOT be extensive amounts of content on release. You probably no whats going on.

No matter how many times everyone says it is still alpha that lacks content, people will whine like there is no tomorrow when it comes out. Hopefully only people who are educated get the game in alpha that know what they are getting into. The guys who have looked on Reddit, the forums or other sources and know what is going on. Unfortunately that is a completely unrealistic expectation and Joe blow will see it on steam and..... .... cry about all the bugs and the lame graphics and being too hard and not having a guide and no 1337 snippers and lame zombies lyke no spitting ones and more unorganized ramplings and shit on the unorganized rambling angry emicon >:( >:( >:( :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan: ^ be prepared to see this kind off stuff

My brother is two years younger than me and won't try anything that isn't CoD. He doesn't even want to try Halo or anything. I did get him to play borderlands, but nothing PC ever. He has no reasons either expect, I don't wanna :facepalm:

Probably, but slightly modified. You would need one runner who is the healthiest (ie has good nutrition) has good running shoes, and is light on his feet. He would have to dodge leaping attacks from Zeds. You would probably need someone to cover him with a rifle to pick off the Zeds charging head on at him. The rest of the team would loot. So yes it could work, but you would need a team of pros. Scouting and planning would be more important. Offcourse you could do it spontaneously, but I feel things could go south fast if the runner isn't careful or hesitates. :|

I agree partially. They don't look that weird, but it is a little strange. At least they are hockey masks. I feel they haven't decided how rare they will be and loads are spawning at the moment as place holders, like beans. But I don't really know I am just speculating. Many players will wear ballcaps to have a smaller less noticeable profile compared to a white or red helmet. Also while, you could use a headlight and still wear a ballcap it would be hard to do so with a motorcycle helmet. It will interesting to see if it is possible. Maybe you could craft a ballcap w/ a headlight by combining a hat and headlight. :)

They fire different rounds actually. 7.62x51 NATO and 7.62x54mm 7N1. I m not sure how thee damage differs

I agree. A good PC game has a life 10x longer than the average console game. Look at the Stalker series from 2007. Or Half life, Counterstrike, Age of empires. The list goes on of old games people still play. No one players console games from 2007

the Blood system is being abandoned partially. You have a "blood count" but your over all condition is now your health. When you take damage you loose blood and your health goes down. When you eat and drink, your blood goes up. When you have full blood no hunger and no thirst, then you start to regen health. No more eat steak and instant heal. The OP is suggesting that you start with good blood lvls because your character has been starving, not bleeding to death, but your over all condition is miserable due to malnutrition. In order to get better you would have to eat good for a long time (probably several IRL dayz) to get back to decent health.

Counting bullets should be easy considering I will only have three or four :D :thumbsup:

Well hopefully the no HUD philosophy will carry over to death messages. I don't want to see any HUD on my screen. Even hunger, thirst , and health don't need to be on the HUD if there are proper audio visual ques.
