Buy a desktop, there's a reason why the powerfull vga cards are half the size of a laptop. Don't get fooled by the hardware's naming, it's marketing only.

any possibilty to safely hide / save your gear ?
gambla posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hi, i haven't played for months and i'm not yet up to date regarding the SA. Please allow me one single question: Is there today, or planned for the SA, the possibilty to safely hide your gear in any way ? (Something like digging a hole in the ground to store your stuff, and only you have access to it.) I really love this mod, but nothing what you did was lasting /missing endgame, that really stopped me playing. And regarding the loot/gear, we all know that there's no map big enough, that your tent can't be found. thanks guys, best regards, gam -

Thanks for recommending Origin, i really enjoy. I built a house to have my stuff save and it's still great collecting rare items and much more to do. Great mod of a fantastic mod. Of course it's less PVP as you have to make progress as hero or bandit. So people can't complain anymore, there's a choice. -
edit: i believe that either your CPU but most likely your GPU is not switching into turbo/3d mode, so it doesn't clocks up tu full speed. you can use MSI afterburner's OnScreenDisplay to show the numbers. post your ArmA2OA.cfg in documents / arma2 - looks like this: language="English"; adapter=-1; 3D_Performance=100000; Resolution_Bpp=32; Windowed=0; Resolution_W=1920; Resolution_H=1200; refresh=60; winX=16; winY=32; winW=800; winH=600; winDefW=800; winDefH=600; Render_W=1920; Render_H=1200; FSAA=2; postFX=0; GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=3; HDRPrecision=8; lastDeviceId=""; localVRAM=1293352960; nonlocalVRAM=2147483647; vsync=1; AToC=0; FXAA=0; PPAA=0; PPAA_Level=0; Edit: - Install a hardware monitor like this http://openhardwaremonitor.org/ - run benchmarks and check min/max values > post results

my results are: A2 bench 1: 76 A2 bench 2: 25 AO bench: 73 OFP Mark: 6163,97 So, you're result isn't too bad. Test my settings for a benchmark: my high settings for the benchmark/game: Quality Preference Very High Interface Res. 1920x1200 3D Res. 1920x1200 Texture details very high Video Memory default Anisitropic Filter normal Anti Aliasing normal ATOC grass, trees - Terrain details very high Object details very high Shadow details very high HDR quality normal PPAA off Postprocess off Vsync on Blood low

huch, garnicht gesehen, aber bin nicht gei steam, lass uns hier aber in englisch fortfahren which bench is it ? arma 1,2 or arma oa ?
-
Post your ArmA/OA benchmark results please. Looks like a challenge but together we'll get it running.

You'll find lots of tips and tricks at the ArmA forum / BI. - Make sure that CPU goes in turbo mode. - Run some benchmarks like Futuremark to compare basic performance. - Arma: Start with highest settings, then turn down one by one, needs a lot of testing. Arma's a bitch regarding hardware. - AA, AF should be low, Postprocess off. - Don't expect a constant high framerate, Arma brings every system to it's knees. - As fps isn't constant above 60fps, use VSync for a much better quality, the fps drop isn't too hard then. You'll see the difference. I run an i5 @4400 turbo / gtx570 default, 8 gig, Ama2 at separate SSD with Vsync on, always between 40 - 60 fps.

I'd left dayz due to dumbass scrpit kiddies, flood of cal50s, and the missing endgameand now i've given Origins a try, and it's great! More survival, no kiddies yet, endgame, perfect. However, Rocket made it all possible, so credits to him.

any possibilty to safely hide / save your gear ?
gambla replied to gambla's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ok, a lot of people don't like this (old) idea at all. That's fine. But please bear in mind that it's not about "being attached to my gear" at all. It's just my personal and realistic feel as a Survivor that i need to collect and build a stock of food/water, some equipment for surviving. I guess it could be even restricted for non-weapon gear. So with the current version, we could agree, that looting tons of stuff is fun butdoesn't make much sense, as it's robbed right away. If you like it, fine, but then please tell me (no offense) : What are you doing in DayZ day by day ? -

Locks and Lockpicking, the idea's not bad. The run for locks, special batteries and whatever could add more gameplay and reduce useless PvP for any guns. -

I understand your opinion and it's a good point. But i've played the common way for a very long time now. I had lots of tents in nearly perfect places, everbody knows they'll all be discovered within weeks. If you don't play for hardcore PvP only, you just come to a point when this endless looting, and having fun collecting stuff, gets soon pointless if all is gone sooner or later. It's not about hiding lots of the big guns with endless ammo, it's my survivor's feel to build a stock of food, water and other equipment to survive. Maybe a bit of making a home. -

Thanks, but i don't think that's "fair", and then searching for these servers ? I'm hoping that it's implemented in the SA, assuming that more people like it. -

Hmm, sounds good. Worth a try. However i'd prefer a simple kind of earth hole for a start. -

Thanks four your comments. Would be great to have anything to hide the hardly collected equipment. After some months playing, when your millionth tent is robbed again, what do you do then ? PvP seems all you can do... -
International sign for friendliness (or something)
gambla replied to jmvars's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i guess we've all thought about it. the problem is, that whatever you do, the other guy may shoot you right in this moment. the only solution i see is to wear a "friendly-skin", or a white cap maybe. -
And so it slowly dawns on me... Dayz sucks.
gambla replied to xdarc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I just can't understand people still whining about the weaknesses of DayZ. How many times do we have to shout "alpha" ? No, it still doesn't have an endgame. And this right before, everybody knows about, the standalone coming out soon. Useless, waste of time. An alpha version is not a complete game, you can't compare it to other full developed games. Test it, help to develope, like it or not. If you don't like, go play something else. -
You know you play to much DayZ when...

We got a supermarket right across the street, with this large window front, like in the game. One afternoon i left the house and looked at these large windows of the market and noticed movement (!), like always. I really thought : fuck, someones in the market ! -
Vehicles are nice, ok. But to quit because any ATVs have a well known bug ? This isn't a fuc.... ATV simulator ! Sometimes i just can't understand the people...

Why not. I like the idea of cigarettes being a currency. Or they could be just a very rare item of luxury. The only downside i see is that you add to encourage all the kids here to believe that smoking is as normal as eating or that it's cool. They might smoke in RL anyway but we shouldn't make it look cool or that you gain any benefit. Just my two cents...

Oh yes, once i placed a tent close to a tree but i wasn't satisfied. Ok, repack it again and place it somewhere else. Bad luck, never could grab that packed tent again. The gear option symbol never showed up again.

I had to use this "dataset" (german product name) before i got the floppy disk. When the game didn't load we used a little screwdriver to adjust the read mechanism (don't know the correct word). And sometimes it took ages until it was working. Great times...

I'm not sure if the console looked like in your picture. But this was my first ever computer game. I've played this as a kid while on holidays with my parents in hungary (!), must've been in the late seventies. Back in germany i got a Atari VCS 2600, with the game cartridges River Raid and Enduro. Then i was addicted for the rest of my life...

Hi, there are so many threads about tent bugs that i got confused. I lost only some items completely, and other items showed a different number. So i'm sure it was looted, but can it be a bug too ? cheers, gam
-
Yeah, your're right. Some weeks ago, i gave up using tents the first time. But looting and collecting stuff is the most fun for me, like for many others. I just hope that they will give us something like safe "earth holes". :(
