Hi, i really love to read storys and watch videos of DayZ, so much fun. :) So i just like to share my short experience, and give a little feedback. Sorry for any bad english, i'm not a native speaker. First, thanks too all for making this great mod. I love this post apocalyptic scenario, being an old fan of the Mad Max series. And as an alpha version, it's already brilliant ! I've read about the many ways you can die in DayZ, and that you can't save your game in any way. With that given, i knew, i shouldn't take it all too serious. That's the first thing at all, and that's what i strongly recommend to beginners and even some experienced players here. Don't take it so serious and have fun playing ! And no, saying my opinion is not whining or complaining in any way. All i give is just my little personal feedback and my personal opinion about this alpha version. My first attempts: 1) I started my first ever MP game with DayZ and spawned on the beach. Went down the beach and saw a lighthouse. Thought a good idea to climb up and have a look around, maybe even some things to collect. Guess what, went prone and bones were breaking. 2) Second attempt, i was happy to find a hatchet after all. Going for a better weapon, i marched to the airfield. Sneaking to the hangar close to the tower, all of a sudden, another survivor came running towards me. He was unsurprisingly chased by Zeds. I made it into a container inside the hangar, closing the doors (if i remember correctly). Too late, a Zed's attacking me, so i rushed to the tower. I ran up the stairs and was stunned to see my first ever real weapon in the game. On the first floor i found a MP5 with ammo. Still stunned by surprise, i continued my way up the stairs. My only thought was hiding from the Zeds when i was attacked from behind. The other survivor was now trying to kill me with a hatchet. I had to fire two full magazines until we both went down. Face to face we both died, watching the sand clock running down. :) 3) The lesson i'm now learning is that food and water are the most important things at all. I was already loosing blood of thirst, but somehow survived when i finally got my hands on a soda can. With no food and water left, i'm still in serious trouble to find a hunting knife and a water cantine. The wood pile and matches i've found are to no use yet. Some personal opinions / wishes: 1) Food/Water: I like it as a major part of surviving, but it shouldn't be harder than life. More cantines and/or being able to drink directly on wells or lakes would be fine. Eating raw meat after killing an animal is not unrealistic, should be ok too. (Just reading a great book about a POWs escape from Laos). The must have of woodpiles, matches and hunting knife is a bit too much imho. 2) Map of Chernarus: I guess that all players are using a map from the internet anyway, so it should be given in game. 3) Zombies: - are way to fast imho - seem to start moving always in player's direction, their ways doesn't seem to be random Finally, my biggest wish for the future is to give us "savegames". Starting from scratch over and over again will not work forever. Having savegames in and the game would fascinate me for months. Any comments are welcome !
