Its ok to Alt-F4 when their is a hacker

I only had to setup a key/macro as a mouse button because i use the left alt-key for " fire weapon", so altF4 doesn't work. I lost about ten characters, soemtimes with heart pounding firefights, that was brilliant, and i never thought a second about logging off. But then the hackers showed up two times and that was the turning point. The only other occasion i thought afterards about altF4 was, when i spawned right in front of another player. But i was not used to logoff and so i stood up and tried to escape, but died. I didn't care. -
I don't know if it's only me, but i dont' like it because it's so unrealistic. The idea of some guys, to create something like a trading store isn't bad, even we have no comm in this world, except meeting in the game. But trading via the forums is imho same as giving everybody full gear. And the next step is trading for real money. Imho that is not the way it's meant to be played. Isn't that one special moment you find the great gear something exciting ? Or looting someone's tent, being a real bandit ? Other opinions welcome.

I like to take this opportunity... They are no hackers, that's what they'd like to be. Hackers are good minded and explore technical things to make it better. Today we have the young copyandpaste kiddies. The reasons why they do it imho: - Seeking attention cause they nowhere get any in life - Too stupid or just bad to play any computer game, to achieve anything in the game by rules - They get no girlfriend or friends at all - They Copy and paste any code and are convinced to get a good job this way in an IT security company soon - Human beings were always much better in destroying as in creating things (unknown quote)

I was teleported to the NW airfield the first time yesterday. I was lucky not to loose any gear. But now i have setup an altF4 key on my mouse (Razer anything), only for these cases. My second encounter with a hacker, eh, no, they are script kiddies without girlfriends, and i thought german servers are not so affected. -
There's no reason or need to "discourage" me for anything. Please moderators, care about more important threads, the many threads people insulting each mother. This is what i call "taking it too seriously". And second, in the forums are thousands of people demanding things whatever we can think about. I only started a discussion, nothing more or less. Anyway, thank you all for your opinions.

No, people don't need to have my opinion. Ok, we play a Zombi Mod, but i reckon that most of the people like the realism of the Arma world. ANd i see nothing smart in trading in the forums.

Just want to ask you guys, if SL is working for you ? It's not so important to open an account at their site, i only want to have your current experience. It used to work fine for me but now my favorite servers are listed and then disappear again. That changes every minute, i don't see any reason or a pattern for this.

What's up with your immersion, with your fantasy ? It's all about surviving. I'll shoot you for food, water, medicine, survivng tools like a knife, matches, your cloths, weapons and so on. And i'll shoot you for self defense, i don't trust you, you may are infected but it's not visible yet. You may have a friend hiding and waiting for me to come closer.

Are there so many kids here that are not yet able to read ? You bought ArmA2 and that's running fine. DAYZ is a free alpha mod and you can take it or leave it. You can die or loose your char a thousand ways. There is no Save function so then it's all gone. These kids are worse than any hacker and cheater.

Don't blame Steam, don't blame Bohemia Interactive. What you've bought is ArmA2 and that's running fine. So there's no reason to claim your money back. DayZ is a mod and absolutely free, you didn't understand that too. It's your choice to play a Mod in alpha stage. You're the 1.000.000 player that wasn't able to understand that DayZ is a Mod in Alpha stage, congratulations. And second, you were not able to read the forums what the current situation is. Ever second thread in the forum is about any hacker on any server, nobody can miss it. So calm down and stfu.

Sorry, that's nothing special. Go to the west, think about where you'd like to hide a tent yourself. Have a nice walk in the park there, into your chosen area, and after 30 minutes your equipped to the max. I'm a bandit, so i too loot tents. :) -
Ah, ok , thank you, funny thing. You may have seen, i'm from Germany. So it originally comes from "Über" (two dots on top of the U). Why not, we use so many english terms in Germany. Believe me, it's ridiculous.

What ? They don't exist ? I've found so many, never checked if they could be legit or not. I've found them in tents, and yes, i blew the camps to the sky. -
Why do you do server hopping ? Can anybody play this game without cheating ?

I don't like the term "deathmatch" but it's what DAYZ is. People just don't understand that DAYZ is about surviving every threat given, and that is Zeds and human beings. They should take it or leave it. There'll be a DAYZ SP version for them in the future, no doubt.

The command alt F4 is a windows system command and can't be changed that easy.

I see it like SwitchBlayde. Fighting hackers is for eternity, Rocket and team would never win this fight. Combatdisco is the pain the a... and should be Prio 1.

I would just take it as realistic. The long walks are no fun but ok, somebody or a group looted everything.

It's not a fix, it worked for you and others because you just changed the setting. I had it on "default" and still got massive artifacts. So just changing it may fix it for some people. -
Same for me. After some hours playing and being in the area of the NW airfield, it started with minor artifacts. After some minutes the graphics were a total mess, unplayable. I was horribly scared because i was sure that my GTX570 is overheating and now is going to die. I had already changed my fan profile and kept the temp below 60 degrees with the fan running at 90%. I must say reading about it in the forums saved my day ! Some days ago i turned on Vsync and triple buffer for a better picture and less tearing. So this is the first thing i'll turn off again.
