Why do people cry so much when they presume on my mercy?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Your conclusions about the psychology of others are pretty outrageous. If you know that people are just scared, why do you validate their fears by shooting them in the back when they run away? Why not give chase and try using direct chat to talk to that person like a decent human being? You know, most people consider stalking a serious breech in "etiquette," and yet you fully admit to doing it. When you are stalking a person, they don't know what your intentions are. Therefore, it's fucking logical to assume that your intentions are malicious, because they've gotten used to people like you practicing your malicious intent, and generally dying in the process. Way to be a part of the problem, idiot. Furthermore, your examples of not being shot while unarmed are completely biased. I've experienced a whole range of abuse and goodness whilst unarmed. It proves nothing about the next interaction with a player that I will encounter. That's called an assumption. You claim people get killed by you because of their assumptions, when in fact it's clearly quite the opposite; you kill people because of your own assumptions. There's nothing more to it. You assume people will act a certain way, and when they don't comply, you shoot them. If they do meet your assumptions, you shoot them anyway. Glad the game could stroke your damn ego so well. Need I say more? -
Idea for preventing combat logging
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Gdaddy22's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I suppose they also have to handle restrained players in a new way, to prevent them from simply terminating the connection and escaping. I imagine that the player would start struggling immediately on disconnect and once they break loose, they disappear. -
October Round-up: #DayZDaily
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
It's simple. I don't swim. Basically 99% of the time I spend in game is on dry land, as swimming clearly puts you at a disadvantage. If they sped it up, I wouldn't mind. The other islands will probably necessitate some tweaking anyway. But talk about converting the swimming to the way it works in Arma 3... Well that's a completely new ball game. They'd have to map the underwater areas, taking up precious memory and causing further delays and pointless issues, when really right now they should be focusing on core mechanics, network stability, crafting combinations, dry land map content, vehicles, ect. It would be nice, but honestly it's not a pressing issue at the moment. The game isn't going to be completely broken just because swimming is a tad bit clunky. At least you don't lose all your gear at the bottom of the ocean anymore. I remember those days... -

I really don't see why swimming is that important. -
Choosing spawn location and the implications.
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to ftee's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Oddly enough that atrocious run on sentence of a post clearly proves why Ocelot is a tool. Clearly choosing your own spawn results in some issues here. Saying "ignore them, you're just a whiner" is not creative, nor is it a solution. The solution is simple. Remove the spawn option for two or three turns after a player has used it once already. Say you spawn in Berezino and get killed. You will have to spawn at another location, kill yourself, spawn an another location, kill yourself, and then you can spawn again at Berezino. It would be significantly harder to re-engage people simply by spawning near them. -
I disagree. Sandbox. Enough said.

What Do You Want to see Dayz SA?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to robrogamer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
LOL. They made full on prostitution mods with animations that let you have sex with characters. Bethesda games have always been full of player made smut. -

HAH - HAHA - No. Don't buy into that crap. It runs horribly and it uses the exact same gold system from WarZ which makes the game pay 2 win. Want a gun? Just buy one with your credit card! lol -
Idea for preventing combat logging
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Gdaddy22's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
A simple 30 second - 1 minute delay after server disconnect would be sufficient. By the way, this is confirmed for the SA. No matter what, you don't log out until the server logs you out. -
Random occurring events in DayZ SA
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to yuklee's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
No. AI is stupid and Dean Hall has already stated multiple times that he wants events on the map to be player generated, not just random set pieces they can inject to "make fun." Not trying to be hateful. But seriously, the bots in Arma suck. -

This thread is a clusterfuck of idiotic speculation. Why can't people just have patience for something? "Oh noes the game took one year to make, it must never be coming out." Just retarded. -
DayZ Standalone No UI Blood Level
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Soul Wreaver's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
DayZ is not trying to provide certainty. Also, you should watch the dev blogs for the SA, because text notifications are the direction the team is taking. Your opinion most likely won't change that, in my opinion. -

1: that proves nothing. 2: they could just use that domain to forward to this existing site. Point defeated in two moves. -

Battlefield 4 will have literally no effect on how many people participate in the SA alpha. You're comparing apples to oranges. People actively seek out the things they want. A lot of people who play DayZ probably want nothing to do with Battlefield. I don't get it. One game's release does not minimize exposure for another game. Maybe if DayZ was even remotely similar to BF4, you would have a point. But they are completely different games. That's like saying that if I go to the supermarket for bread, but the first thing I see in the store is candy, then suddenly I'm going to buy a bunch of candy and forget the bread. Makes no fucking sense. People seek out the things that they want. -

SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Um. Do you know how to read? "there is no release date announcement and we’re 100 percent focused on getting the alpha out the door" It's coming very soon. Get over it, that's the closest we can get. It's quite preposterous that you registered 3 days ago and instantly came here demanding a release date when there clearly isn't one. lol -

"And as I’d stated on my twitter when I announced my break from social media/updates, we are on the final lap. Part of the final process involves the actual administration of the release, which is actually surprisingly complex and time-consuming.” “So, to confirm, there is no release date announcement and we’re 100 percent focused on getting the alpha out the door" -rocket The Standalone is on it's way. Anyone who doesn't believe so is sadly misinformed. -
DayZ Standalone No UI Blood Level

I think the transition from color to black and white, combined with the new injured animations, text notifications, ect., are going to provide this information. -

I would not anticipate a Halloween release. People are doing stuff that day. It's more sensible to wait until the day after, or on the 5th. -
Am I the only person who wants to see agriculture in this game? I want to be able to grow vegetables and collect them as a renewable food source. Also carbine, watch the latest dev blog. This is implemented. You eat and drink items 25% per use.

Question about SA
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to rooniedoo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The truth is that nobody really knows. It will probably just pop up on steam, but I have a feeling that the forum is going to get some kind of hint or heads up shortly beforehand. I have no evidence to support this, it's just a hunch. -
This is kind of interesting. Guess they changed the name so it wouldn't pop up on the almighty overseer Google™ immediately.

Because people are greedy and stupid and they tend to troll others. Enough said. This has been suggested before, because it's a great idea.
