While the robbery system is nice it won't work.
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to ThirdSinger's topic in General Discussion
Okay so... Run away? Nobody is forcing you to comply with their orders, you chose to do that. A player being able to kill you is not a flaw in the gameplay. -

SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to ThirdSinger's topic in General Discussion
It seems to be working just fine already. It's not a robbery "system." It's just robbery, and people do it. -
The game isn't finished yet. It's like asking to mod Watchdogs. Incomplete content/engine features means with every revision they are liable to break the mods you spend so much time making, which I'm sure nobody in the modding community would be very happy about. The influx of modding related questions to the team would hinder their progress on the core game itself. I don't think modding is a very good idea right now. Furthermore, it makes the game easier to hack and promotes mod servers which draw attention away from the base alpha. So no. No modding.

The goals of a group....Discussion.
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to katana2665's topic in General Discussion
Dean already said they were going to add growing plants, so I assume that settlement and hopefully base-building are part of DayZ's future. -
I am extremely surprised at these poll results... "They attacked me but I won the fight" is most chosen option. Interesting. So far I've only had to kill one other player. He attacked me in the firestation in Cherno with an axe. Little did he know that I play Chivalry.

Not always, no. I'll kill someone if it's necessary, but killing people for their items is not necessary to your survival in the game. Handling situations tactically and intelligently is part of surviving. That is all. If anything, being a player-killer puts you more in harm's way. Don't talk like you know how to play and other people don't. That's just like, your opinion man.

Item degradation is here to stay and no amount of bitching is going to make it go away, so I humbly suggest you learn to play the game with the mechanics implemented, or don't play. It's basically that simple. I would wager that a majority of "carebears" (which is a totally stupid nickname and a vast misinterpretation of an argument, if you ask me) actually enjoy the PvP element of DayZ. However, it is a realistic game and it stands to reason that spraying someone with machinegun fire will damage items that they are carrying. Sounds like you're the one complaining, so really it sounds like you're the carebear here. I would gladly have you come at me, bro. Bandits tend to be the most butthurt players of this game, in my experience. Just because some of us have alternative ways of playing doesn't make us "carebears."

how do i fix broken legs without epi-pen?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to orrzxz's topic in General Discussion
I think you can make splints. But I'm not sure how. Probably a stick and some tape? Damn you beat me to it. lol -
Why do you "have" to feel bad for being a bandit/kos?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Nesuma (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Oh thanks for those 5 links to that one Hemingway quote that I'm sure we have never heard before. I read The Most Dangerous Game and let me tell you, it's not a book that encourages the hunting of human beings. It only uses that topic to show the fundamental shift in psychology of a person who does those things, and demonstrates their loss of humanity because of it. People always take that stupid quote out of context. It doesn't justify you being a jerk. You just have to rationalize that yourself. You can't stop other people from being angry at you for ruining their experience. In short, play the game however you want, but don't expect your victims to be happy with your decisions. That's idiotic at best, and psychopathic at worst.- 40 replies

Where are the tools for mapping?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Pfhreak's topic in General Discussion
For the last time, modding will not be allowed until much later in development. That's precisely why you can't find any information on it. -
Waa waaa. Nope, this isn't a bug - it's a feature. Destroying items that you shoot is realistic, and you can avoid destroying a person's items already by scoring headshots so... Learn to aim?

Should it be easier to keep fed/hydrated?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Clumzy (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
No. You need to think about your literal intake and overall calorie level. One can of tuna and a soda is not enough food to support a marathon run across Chernarus. #l2p #gitgud -
It's already confirmed. Rocket confirmed it in the livestream prior to release.

Don't forget the point of Alpha...
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to ninjacalypse's topic in General Discussion
You clearly don't know the meaning of the sentence "It's an alpha," then. The point is that remaking the same stupid threads about the m4, player logging, all these issues which are in the bug tracker system, is totally pointless. It's an alpha and the issue will eventually be addressed. -
Holy balls, for the last time. It's a TEMPLATE WEAPON, people! Sheesh.

Idea. Gunshots, Tinnitus, and Hearing Protection.
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) posted a topic in General Discussion
Someone mentioned this in a livestream and Brian seemed to like the idea, but I'll recap it here. Shooting a gun should give you temporary deafness and a ringing in your ears. One or two shots, for example, would cause just a short, mild ringing. Shooting heavily over a short time should cause some temporary deafness and more intense ringing, unless you are wearing hearing protection. Examples of items that are already in the game which could provide this protection are motorcycle helmets, ballistics helmets, and ushanka hats. The devs could also create other items like earmuffs or fancy electronic shooting ear muffs which require batteries and provide even higher levels of protection. Also, gunshots should be a bit louder in my opinion. -
Learn to be a medic - Medical procedures in DayZ
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Nalestom's topic in Gallery
The new update will be including splints. -
Eh... It's worth the $30. That's already half the price of a standard release game.

Actually rocket has confirmed that there will be gathering mechanics so this will probably happen in some way. I would also like to be able to collect certain grasses and make a tea with them, to enjoy with my freshly caught hare. Like Les Stroud.

The map is NOT balanced right now.
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to MLG420blazeit's topic in General Discussion
Let's not forget the Mauser, Crossbow, Hunting Rifle, and other civilian weaponry... Those kinds of guns will probably spawn all over the map. -
Look. I don't know about "Afghanistan" (no offense but it seems like everyone on the internet served a tour in Afghanistan) but I worked at a gun range for 2 years. I shot everything from .22 to .50 BMG, and I have never seen a muzzle flash like the ones in those screenshots. It simply doesn't happen that way. At night time they can be highly visible, but nothing of that magnitude.

The map is NOT balanced right now.
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to MLG420blazeit's topic in General Discussion
In the update I personally have already noticed that tents now spawn more food and clothing and less ammo and weapon parts. It's relatively simple to change loot tables on the fly, and once more weapons and items are added into the game, it is going to be very different. Not to mention once we have 2- 3000 zombies on the map, I'm willing to bet people are not going to be complaining about finding guns. -
Again, I don't know if you fully comprehend what alpha means... It's very hard to test hundreds of thousands of item combinations and so many possibilities with less than 60 pre-alpha testers. Getting loot into the world for players to test in the Alpha is imperative. Alpha. ALPHA. ALPHA.
