Man, I'm really sick of these fucking whiny threads. Cry more, you're not getting safe-zones. End of discussion. I also love how people with 1 post come in and say things like "X, Z, and Y are what make DayZ enjoyable." 1: That's your opinion. Everyone finds different things enjoyable. 2: Just because you find certain things enjoyable over others does not mean the entire development staff has to bend over backwards to accommodate you. The DayZ Standalone is not a democratic republic. If you don't like it, buy a different game. Or better yet, play the mod. Nobody forced you to come here.

Having a book in your quick bar lets you read it while you are unconscious. That's one good use.

That make no sense whatsoever. WarZ has PvP. Lots of games have PvP. Stop trying to justify your views with weak arguments based on the engine. The game is primarily about survival. PvP is one aspect of that survival, which is utterly freaking apparent. Why else do you have to drink, eat, perform medical procedures, and prevent your character from getting sick? You also seem to be completely overlooking the fact that the aim is to have thousands of zombies on the map. The game is not just deathmatch. Get over it.

Is it me or does the drink and food meter drop too fast?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to spuddy0108's topic in General Discussion
No. You start off already dehydrated and hungry. Eat more. Two pieces of fruit would not be enough calories for a 5km hike. It's literally that simple. You wouldn't eat an apple and an orange and expect to do an all day hike of the Appalachian trail, would you? -
Why can't I reliad 5.56 20 round CMAG with 5.56 20 rounds?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in General Discussion
You have to have an open inventory slot to empty the rounds into. -
What masks do you want to see?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to pythonmsh's topic in General Discussion
I want the bandanna to be craftable as a face mask, and vice versa. Also A multi-state shemag that you could choose to wear over your face or around your neck like a scarf. Surgical masks are already in the game... -
The only Game I Enjoy just walking in

I agree. I often find myself coming over a ridge to see the sunset, or looking out at mountains in the distance, and having to stop and take in the impressive majesty. -
Opinions/Suggestions for DayZ SA from Infestation/WarZ
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to capblackshot's topic in General Discussion
I read the thread. I just don't like most of those ideas. I've seen videos of the melee combat in WarZ and it doesn't really look that great. DayZ can use improvement, but it's alpha so... we can pretty much expect that. The zombie thing, well I just don't like it. It takes away the ability for zombies to horde and move across the map, which isn't a very good compromise just for server power. I'd rather see a system that allows people to create fortifications and have outside zombies siege those fortifications. Limiting them to a particular area is basically what we had in the mod. Also, their collision geometry and such will improve with time. The last one I don't have much of an opinion on, players glitching through walls and such is a problem the devs will eventually have to fix anyway. Fall damage, I don't know. It has to be done right. I've seen videos of people doing crazy stuff on skyscrapers in WarZ that makes no sense whatsoever. While some of your concerns are legitimate, I just don't think Infestation is necessarily a good model for solutions. -
Original "You are Dead" Screen
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to myusername!'s topic in General Discussion
I kind of like the plain text. It's so anticlimactic. Just like death. -
What am i looking at? What does this symbol mean?

Hah, they removed it's penis. -
Opinions/Suggestions for DayZ SA from Infestation/WarZ
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to capblackshot's topic in General Discussion
No thanks. By the way, turn off your aiming deadzone in the settings. That should help with your mouse problem. -
If you honestly think the Roman Empire and a video game justify killing, then I suggest you move to the Congo and experience it for yourself. The brutality is absurd. You'd probably wind up dead or more likely leaving and going back to your comfy modern life, posting comments about killing people on the internet. Also, slavery exists today, all around the world; even in the United States. I do know my history, and politics, very well. And yeah, I have to wonder about the mental capacity and maturity of someone who claims they would murder people in a state of emergency. It's not prejudice, because I'm judging based on something you said. (see the definition of Prejudice)

IDEA: Post traumatic stress disorder
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Grabarz (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Lol, it's not a complex, but thanks for the psychoanalysis. Anyone who knows basic programming could tell you that a machine can't really analyze context very well. There's no way to understand a conversation between two people, for example. How do you omnipotently judge who is the aggressor when a majority of the interaction is taking place over direct chat? It's just not possible. People keep kicking around this hallucination idea, but it's terrible. It's a constructed experience for starters, which is not really natural to the core game. And secondly, what do you do about all the false positives and such that this system would be plagued by? It's just logic. There's nothing "superior" about it. If you don't like my opinion, don't listen to it. -
POLL : Should DayZ be only 1st person or 1st + 3rd person view
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to RespawnCake's topic in General Discussion
The problem is that it can be hard to find a populated first person server, because people tend to use the easier option. Also, some of us like 3rd person but also want it to be a bit less exploitable. A tighter camera angle would be a good start. -
Why i KOS most of the time.
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to maxim1200's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I don't get it. If they log off then... They can't hurt you? lol. I had an interesting interaction on the road a few days ago, I was walking alone to link up with my friend in Mogilevka, when I saw a guy coming the opposite way over the road. We both froze. I had an m4, and he pulled out his fire-axe. Then, I raised my weapon, and hit f1 to wave at him. He waved back, so I lowered my weapon again, and he put away his axe. We gave each other a wide berth as we passed, and that was that. I can think of many situations where this sort of thing has been the case. So far I've only been shot at twice, both failed to kill me. Also one guy tried to kill me with an axe in Cherno (but come on, that's Cherno), and I successfully killed him and escaped anyway. So most of the time, I don't think kill on sight is really necessary. The more people follow that path, the more other players are going to respond. It's like a disease. You kill a player for no reason, and there's a chance he'll get super frustrated and "RAMPAAAAAAAGE!!!" Because like yourself, he has adapted to someone else's treatment of him. Basically, you're taking your frustration with one or two people out on everyone else indiscriminately. You just have to stop and ask yourself if it's honestly worth it. -
Put it in your hands.

Suggestion for the handcuffs
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to beani5003's topic in General Discussion
I think the amount of time it takes to struggle out of restraints has to do with the condition of the handcuffs. Pristine handcuffs will take a long time to struggle out of. -

Why i KOS most of the time.
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to maxim1200's topic in General Discussion
My roommate and I ran into two armed survivors the other day. We could have killed them (and indeed my roommate wanted to) but I talked the situation down. They put their guns away, and as we happened to be running the same direction on the road, we had them run in front of us so we could watch them. Finally we came to a crossroads and we wished them the best of luck. Nothing ever came of the situation. You can rationalize your behavior all you want. But it's not the only way to handle a situation. Besides, you people act like dying in a video game actually has meaning... lol. Sometimes, it's worth the risk to have that interaction with other people. It makes it interesting. If I die, I'll just get geared up in like 30 minutes and be right back where I started. I guess this game is just too hard for some people, so they have a fit and go on a KoS rampage when they lose their "precious" M4. -
IDEA: Post traumatic stress disorder
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Grabarz (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
It's just not possible. There are very context specific situations that might justify you killing an unarmed person. There are many situations when a player killing another armed player would still be considered banditry. Oh I have an idea - why don't you write some kind of super algorithm that can watch people and predict human nature? Oh wait. Because that's freaking impossible. /endofthread -
I found the solution to kos go east!

Sure, but it doesn't mean that every person you encounter up there will be friendly.
