The ultimate flaw with DayZ
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to mattldempsey's topic in General Discussion
I've got a better idea. Let's just stop replying to these completely redundant threads which do nothing but bitch and moan. Seriously, people. If you don't like the game, there's an easier solution than typing out a fucking essay trying to convince everyone else to hate the game too. It's called Steam Library>DayZ>Delete Local Content. -
Is it just going to be these 4 guns?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to MasterOfDayz's topic in General Discussion
This post makes me wish you could take beans from people. Littering in your thread will have to suffice. :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan: :emptycan: Then why the fuck would you ask such a stupid fucking question to begin with? -
Let me tell you all a story
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to softwarevf's topic in General Discussion
These posts make something extremely clear to me. There are two types of people who play this game. One gets betrayed and goes "fuck everyone I hate the world waaaaaaa murder spree!!!" The other goes "Oh damn haha, I didn't see that coming; human nature is so unpredictable and compelling!" I'm sorry but I like to be surprised and shocked by the things that happen in a game. I don't want a watered down, predictable experience. Think of it this way. You go to a bar, try to talk to a girl, and she rejects you horribly. Because of that one experience, you can either a: get butthurt and stop talking to all girls, which will result in 0 good experiences, or b: shrug it off and move on, which might result in 100 more bad experiences and 1 good one. What would you rather have, one good experience, or no good experiences? -
Let's also not forget that in a zombie apocalypse, you would need lots of ammunition for killing zombies. Since .22lr is so small and lightweight, you can literally carry hundreds of rounds in your pockets at all times. It's a very advantageous caliber for this sort of job.

Ozelot, I want to tell you a story. So sit down and shut up for five seconds and maybe you'll learn something. Last year in October a very close, personal friend of mine whom I had known since high school shot himself in the head with a .22 pistol. Now kindly shut the fuck up, because you have no idea what you are talking about. .22 rounds are just as deadly as any bullet and if you don't take them seriously, you are doing yourself a disservice. You should never, ever, underestimate a firearm. Regardless of the caliber.

3d person cheating with screenshots

OH MAN, I had no idea this was possible before you made a whole new thread about it! -
Why is the world of dayz so static ?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to pogosphere's topic in General Discussion
Man, just shut up. Sorry you're too ignorant to watch videos and read reviews before you buy a product, but seriously. You were well warned. -
DayZ's Biggest problem at this moment (27/12/2013) (Excluding Bugs)
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to FBI's topic in General Discussion
For the last time. Kill on Sight is not a "problem." It's just your problem. Learn to play. -

SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to pogosphere's topic in General Discussion
Actually, I think he was arguing in the favor of DayZ. -
Says the 15 year old with zero gun knowledge. If you think a .22 is so insanely under powered, why don't you put one to your head and pull the trigger?        Holy Christ stop posting.

SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to pogosphere's topic in General Discussion
This is literally the worst, most misinformed thread I have ever seen on this site. What a pathetic understanding of game design and the RV engine. I know, if you don't like the game, why don't you go make your own? Idiots. -
What exactly is lagging this game?
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to SageZ's topic in General Discussion
Currently occlusion culling is not working. That and other optimizations, like multi-core usage (which the game does not currently do very well) will help. -
No. It didn't work in the mod, it won't work in the Standalone. What we need are more things to do in the game. More zombies, more objectives, and cooperative tasks to reward cooperation. Right now KoS will persist because once you have gear, there's really not much to do.

Real Time or Fast Time, but not both.
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Dark Link's topic in General Discussion
The hunger and thirst is realistic. It's based on your calorie burn and dehydration - just like real life. You are aware that not everyone eats exactly three meals a day, right? Some people eat more, some people eat less. Most human diets vary based on how much physical activity you do. So running for 10km straight, yeah, you're gonna need to eat and drink a LOT. Sitting all day, well not so much. Hunger is not based on a "timer." -
Kill on Sight - Complaining
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to TheHappyPeanut's topic in General Discussion
Bow hunting is quite a sport and I have much respect for anyone who can kill an animal with one. -
Storage Containers/MedKits Redundancy
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to Mallow88's topic in General Discussion
Well I'm pretty sure the dev team is planning to add a weight system with encumberment, which will add limitations to how you can exploit it. Also, I've messed with the system quite a bit and I can say, with the long delay of putting containers on the ground and such, it can be quite an inconvenience to use this. Granted, in some situations it is extremely beneficial (such as for low priority items as you said) but it also leaves you quite vulnerable and with no warning before resets, you can easily lose things if you put them on the ground and can't get them back into your inventory before a restart. -
Kill on Sight - Complaining
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to TheHappyPeanut's topic in General Discussion
Also, I really don't know why people call hunting a "sport." It doesn't require athleticism. You hide in a bush or in a box eating beef jerky and then you shoot an unsuspecting animal. A sport implies there is some sort of competition or an ability to lose. Would you call playing tether ball against a person with no arms a "sport"? Ridiculous. -

SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to serenityrick's topic in General Discussion
Nobody cares. OT. Cool story. It fucking sucks that they ghosted, what a cop-out. It's that kind of shit that makes me think "well jeeze, your friend should have just combat logged." Which is a very sad cycle indeed. Can't wait until they fix that. -
A few things regarding ammo
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to jOKe (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I like tracers, armor piercing ammo would have to be incredibly rare. All the glitches you posted I have also noticed, and yes I would like to be able to separate stacks more easily. Also, not only would tracers look cool, but tracers work both ways. It might actually help players defend themselves more easily by being able to tell where they are being shot from. -
I think it's easier to simply ask the person you see to type in the chat. That gives you their name.

A few things regarding ammo
SalamanderAnder (DayZ) replied to jOKe (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Loading blanks in your gun is about as useful as putting the barrel in your mouth. Sooner or later you'll run into someone else with a gun and they'll be shooting real bullets at you, meanwhile you'll have what, a cap gun? No thanks. Seems like a waste of development time. The other issues you mentioned are legit, and I'm sure the dev team is aware of them. -
Believe it or not, you aren't the first person to suggest this.
