Yes. -
Character inexplicibly drops, screen goes black, no dead message, then respawn in airfield with alice pack and other goodies
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to CmdSheperd's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I don't think we're allowed to discuss these things much, as scripts are considered hacks. But I'll jump the gun for you. Assuming that I was correct, the main reason why someone would run a script on another player is to get them off the server. Kicked or banned, that's up to BattleEye. It's most likely for trolling reasons, nothing personal. See, BattleEye is sadly very easy to bypass if you know what you're doing. And you CAN run scripts on other players. If the player doesn't have a bypasser when someone runs a script on them, they can possibly be kicked or banned. I know that picking up a weapon that doesn't belong to DayZ can get you banned, as I've seen it happen. It can be just a server ban, or it can be a global BattleEye ban. Edit; This has nothing to do with DayZ, though. Spawning items through scripts or teleporting is considered a hack by BattleEye, no matter what. In ARMA 2, OA, CO, or any mod. -

Bugs and out-right buffs to min/max players are two different things. -
Use the search function. There have been numerous threads about new types of food. I'm sure Rocket will add them as time goes by. And currently, you need to eat/drink about once every hour or two, so making the food not reset your hunger/thirst would feel pretty stupid. What are you, an american? (Oh god, my humor.)

Dancing.Russian.Man replied to zzSTABBYzz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
NO. How are you supposed to magically be able to heal yourself when you've killed a few people, or need less food/water? And how does the same food you've been eating all your life become more healthy when you've helped some people? Or what in the world makes zombies think "Hey, that guy helped other people not to get eaten by us. Let's just walk by!" -

Sounds like someone might've tried running a script on you, with or without the intention to get you kicked/banned from the server. -
DayZ: My thoughts so far
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to WaldoDude`'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I love that orange mug. That's all for now, will edit once I'm done watching the rest of the video. Edit; It's a pretty good review, and I agree with a lot of the stuff in it. But you should think what you say, and cut the video so there's not that many pauses and stuttering. -
Why do some servers have Direct Comm disabled?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to sephisto69's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The reason why I asked if you knew how to change channels was just in case you were one of those people who try talking to people without knowing they're on Group Chat by default, which obviously doesn't show to anyone. But obviously you do know, so nevermind that. -
The person you killed disconnected. Sadly it's not a bug. Disconnecting will remove your playermodel from the in-game world (almost) immediately.

Dancing.Russian.Man replied to sephisto69's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How do you know it's disabled? Do you know how to change chat channels? -
+1 to this idea. Especially because you said you wanted a timer, and that multiple shots make it impossible to revive.

DayZ Staff: Start doing something about hackers. Now.
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Colten (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't think you know what his "attitude" towards testers are. Sure, he can probably do something like change/add script commands so that the hackers' scripts no longer work as they should, but even the commands made simply for DayZ(like changing player model when wearing a suit) have already been found and are being abused. BattleEye is a horrible, easily bypassable cheat-detector. Don't blame DayZ or its staff for the rampant hacking. Edit; Helicopters are removed from DayZ due to performance issues on the servers. -

Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Colten (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not yet, at least. It's still just a mod. And even if Rocker releases DayZ as a stand-alone game, it's VERY unlikely that he will program a whole new anti-cheat system from scratch for DayZ. He will most likely buy/rent an anti-cheat system for the game, and again, he is not fully* responsible for the hacking. * I say "fully" because it would be his game, and he can and should choose another anti-cheat system if the current one doesn't work well enough. However hacking will ALWAYS exist, nothing is un-bypassable. (I doubt that's a word.) -

Companies and developers, even in small groups, can have internal testing. Most of the time Alpha stage is always internal or with a very small, controlled group that has signed an NDA to test the game. They don't need us. How do you expect a MOD DEVELOPER to prevent hackers from hacking a GAME THEY DID NOT CREATE, that has an ANTI-CHEAT THEY DON'T OWN? -

Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Colten (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Rocket and the DayZ staff has no "customers." You haven't paid a single penny to play DayZ. It's a free mod. If you bought ARMA 2 and Operation Arrowhead just to play DayZ, it's still not their problem. And that aside, you are an Alpha Tester. Not a player. (Even though hacks have nothing to do with the mod being in Alpha stage, glitches do happen, so expect everything you have to disappear unfairly.) Edit; Handrix27 is correct. BattleEye is what the DayZ servers use as its anti-cheat program, because ARMA 2 uses it, and all DayZ is a mod, so it automatically uses the same anti-cheat. Contact BattleEye support if you want to complain about hackers. Edit2; Some servers have player markers enabled on map, so if you have a map, you can see if another player is around your area. He probably was looking for you already, and knew where you were because he saw you on his map. -
PMC = better graphics?

ESC > Options > Video Settings > 3D Resolution Make sure it's set to 100%. You have to change it every time you change your resolution. -
DayZ has a 24-hour day-cycle. The time of day where the server is, is most likely the time it's in the server itself.

Zombies generally work on instinct. They hear something, they waddle over to investigate. They see something, they waddle over to investigate. Once they recognize it as prey, they attack. Picking up 3kg's worth of metal, pointing it at the target and clenching your hand isn't what instinct does. That's called thinking.

All right to kick AFK:ers?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to vitdom's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
If you can tell exactly how long the player has been in the lobby in one sitting, we might have a discussion. Otherwise; No. -
NVG has a chance of 0.11% of spawning whenever the loot respawns in the proper areas. They are pretty damn rare.
