Thermal Scope in group? GG anyone.
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to JungleJim's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Useful thread is useful. (Inb4 "useful post is useful." Hypocrites.) -
No character roll-backs. Use two keys/characters since you have two accounts.

Shutting down a server when not online
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Ferns's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
If it's a private hive, you can do whatever-the-hell you like with it. If it's connected to the DayZ hive, you're not allowed to shut it down besides when you really have to. Also, I'm not a server host, but you should look up some remote consoles (or RCON), to monitor your server and its logs. -
Global Ban and Don't Know Why!!!
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to BallisticGamer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Due to the fact of how rampant the hacking on the DayZ mod is, there's an extremely rare case of a completely innocent and reasonable player to get banned. And even if that was the case, there's two things you should know: 1. There is NOTHING any of us here can do. And there's NOTHING Rocket, the developer for DayZ, can do. 2. You'll have to buy the standalone DayZ anyway when it comes out, and BattleEye bans won't be transferred over. Also, I DID help you, so stop lying. I told you to go contact the BattleEye support. Type "BattleEye Support" onto Google and do at least that much work. If they refuse to unban you, then -I- still helped you, BattleEye just refused to cooperate. Stop expecting others to solve your problems. -
People who moan about bandits / the inability to survive
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It may not be a scam, but it is a blatant rip-off. Look up Rhinocrunch's videos. (There's one in the OP's post.) Plus, this is in their Alpha footage: http://puu.sh/15yO7 What does that remind you of? This, maybe? http://puu.sh/15yLg or http://puu.sh/15yLG ? -
Global Ban and Don't Know Why!!!
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to BallisticGamer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There's only a few things that could have happened. 1. You hacked, and are here, lying to us. 2. You TRIED to hack, but it was either a fake or an out-dated hack and now you're paying for it. 3. You tried to use a "tweak" program to improve your FPS, and it stole your key. Edit; Either way, you won't be unbanned here. Read the fricking sticky. Contact BattleEye and cry to them. -
Over 230 hackers got banned on my server
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to RickGrimes45's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Dag nabbit, people. BattleEye won't ban you for carrying hacked weapons. Rocket won't ban you for carrying hacked weapons. Spawning hacked weapons leads to a ban. It was never said that a server admin can't ban people for having hacked weapons. And, quite frankly, server admins are ALLOWED TO MOD the version of DayZ they have on their server. It can have any map, any weapons, permanent day or night, the "vanilla" day-night cycle, and anything else they want. Private hives are not controlled by Rocket, nor are they tracked. -
If you update right after an update is released, it's your own fault for not being able to play. The proper process is this; Beta patch gets released > Servers patch first > You patch after
-
Now this, I definitely agree with!
-
Yeah, I won't object to that. But I still stand by my opinion that it does count as slight self-entitlement if the testers themselves ask to get something for doing something the developers never asked. If Rocket had advertised the game and required an invitation to the alpha, I would've supported your idea of wanting something cosmetic and unique for playing. But he did not. He simply made the mod and was expecting around 20'000 - 30'000 people to play it, but look at where we are now.
-
Initial reaction(to the title): NO! Edit: No, we don't need to differentiate players based on when they played the damn game. It counts as entitlement that you want this before they have even mentioned it. (Have they? I'll assume not. Sorry if it's not the case.) Yes, you helped to test the mod, but they never really asked you to do it. They never expected even a third of the amount of unique players DayZ currently has. "Unique melee weapon that's consistent between lives (that last one's a bit of a stretch, pushing the whole "rebirth" thing of respawning)." You are right, it does stretch it a whole lot. But I kind-of like this idea, simply because it's not an obvious copypaste idea from another game. (Unique skins did not come from TF2, so even they basically ripped off someone else, but the gaming industry is based on stealing ideas and tweaking them a bit.) But if this WAS to be added, it should not be any different from, say, an axe you find on the ground. Not something you spawn with, unless everybody spawns with a melee weapon.

The Simulation Games, 100% Hacker free
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
So many things to nit-pick and bash.. But screw it, not tonight. I hope it turns out well. -
Generally it's not possible. Or at least, very hard to do.

I still remember the time when I found a Mountain Dew and protected it like a helpless child for 6 days before I was sniped at an airport.

Standalone in graphical terms.
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to flygamer1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Fair enough. I think I should be able to look it up once I get home. Thanks, though. -
Free Alpha in form of a mod to sketch out an unfinished game. You are not entitled to anything. Play in a private hive or don't play at all.

Standalone in graphical terms.
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to flygamer1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Can you link the interview? As far as I know, the standalone DayZ will use a locked down and modified ARMA 3 engine(Hence the "2.5", since it will have the unnecessary things removed from the engine, thus not full 3.0) with a mix of that chopper-thingy. (Forgot the name.) -
How is that possible?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Hati (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives

Is the radio legit and if not can admins ban me for having it?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to immortal revolt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It IS legit, god damnit. Everybody who has a Radio are able to use Side-Chat. But those without a radio can't see it. Edit; But to answer your other question; Yes. Admins can ban you for having it. Admins can ban you for anything they want, pretty much, since the server is most likely not connected to hive, and therefor not much can be done if they do, as far as I know. -
Blacklist - Whitelist If Blacklist means a list of people who are NOT allowed to the server, what do you think white - the opposite of black - means? Hint; Whitelist is a list of people who are allowed to connect to the server. Nobody else but the people on the whitelist can join.

EuroGamer - Sep 2012 - DayZ Developer Presentation / Article
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to J.D's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Yeah? And? (Asking about what's bad about the article regarding the price.) -
I doubt that's going to happen or is going to work. People will always find a way around things. (Even if it means literally hacking into the server. And I mean HACKING, not cheating.) No cheat protection and 'server-side-everything' isn't the way you can do things.
-
I do wonder what Rocket is planning to use as anti-cheat.
