They gave me keys to a US server, Whitelisted come in
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Steak and Potatoes's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I would've joined long ago but I don't have the spine to sit in voice chat whenever I'm playing. -
It will.

Noobiee with questions.. :/
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to KyleIsGoofy's topic in New Player Discussion
Technically, once you kill/hurt other non-bandit players enough, your "Humanity" will decrease to the point where you'll gain a "bandit skin," which is basically a towel around your head. You can't see your Humanity, but it's there. You can gain humanity by just living, or sharing supplies. (Bandaging, giving morphine or using epi-pen on others, and giving Blood Transfusions.) But in layman's terms, a bandit is someone who robs other players (only works if they sneak up on your and tell you to drop your weapon, or if they're in a group) or down-right shoot others on sight. No matter what they're doing. Everybody start off as a Survivor. Survivors have Civilian Clothing on. If you gain high enough humanity, you gain a "Hero skin," which is a slightly fancier jacket and a scarf around your neck. From what I've heard, they run slightly faster than others, but that's it. These are the kinds of people you can always trust. -
What DOES it take to run this game smoothly?

A simple set of zombie changes to make DayZ what we've all wanted it to be
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Blay Wayne's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Pretty sure the de-spawn can't be helped because of the engine. Other than that; Wait for the standalone. Everything will be much, much better and brutal when we get there. -
Do you use the online maps?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Anyx7's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I definitely use an online map for the first 12 in-game hours I spend on a new map, so I can get a grip on the locations you spawn at, so it'll be easier for me to locate myself later on. Right now, I don't need a map, watch or compass of any kind to know where I am, assuming that I'm playing on Chernarus or Namalsk. -
No option to Repair bikes?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You would be correct. Last time I used a bike in ARMA 2/DayZ was back in DayZ 1.5.1. If it has changed.. Then I doubt I'll ever want to ride a bike again. -
If I wanted one, I would've put one on it myself. Besides, I used pictures other people had taken/made, so me watermarking it as my own wouldn't really do me much good. Feel free to do anything with it. I'm just passing the time with these.

promote walking (will be unpopular of a suggestion)
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to SoWeMeetAgain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I agree with Stamina being added as a background-factor in the Standalone. The less stamina you use, the faster it should regenerate. (To make cover-to-cover running possible, like you said.) But. Tripping because of exhaustion doesn't really happen. Very, very rarely does. Usually you trip because you lost your balance and were too tired to react to it, so I think it'd be better if forest-y areas had an insignificant chance of falling over even at full stamina, but would increase as your stamina was getting low. Especially with zombies spawning in the forests in the Standalone(there was some talk about doing this), it would make everything very interesting, especially if you were panicking from nearby zombies, causing the trip-factor to increase even more. (And why not make it possible to hit your head and get knocked unconscious, too? That can happen, and would be totally realistic.) -
[L85]Am I bannable?

Only if you are playing on a private hive. -
No option to Repair bikes?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Probably because it's near-IMPOSSIBLE to wreck a bike. I've ran through a body of 20 or more zombies, been shot at, HAVE shot at, and crashed into so many things with a bike. Those things are literally tougher than tanks from what I can tell. -
http://filesmelt.com...youtubedayz.png http://filesmelt.com...youtubedayz.jpg (< Use this one for Youtube. The .PNG version is just higher quality, but too big to be uploaded as a background.) Whipped up a background for you. Better than nothing, I hope. (Background was edited together from a couple pictures, so you can't find the same thing anywhere.)

SOLUTION! Dynamic system of "bandit" recognition
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to GodOfGrain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Edit; I decided I have nothing to say. Turns out I either misread or misunderstood the idea. But god damn it, who am I to shut up? OP, can you specify this? (Quote my post when you do, so it's easier for me to notice.) When you say "Player B survives," do you mean that he simply gets away -without- killing player A? -
Dayz questioning
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Bandit Rieller's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You can get ARMA 2: Free from Steam, to see if it'll run on your computer. But it still needs ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead so you are able to play. So basically, you need to buy 1-2 games before you can get the mod working, and I don't know if it will work on a Mac at all. And yes, the DayZ STANDALONE is planned to be released this month, but will be pushed back if Rocket thinks it's not ready. It will still be in Alpha, not a full game. And yes, you need to buy the standalone. Edit; SA means StandAlone. -
Your processor and (especially) RAM are pretty terrible. Can't say for the graphics card because I'm not familiar with the brand.

No Wiki for "unofficial" Weapons??
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to a222's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Even if it's a custom map, the loot tables are by default the same as DayZ's. (Besides that one map that is its own mod. Whatwasitsname.) If it has custom weapons, it has a custom loot table, and it's not really the Wiki's fault for not having the weapons listed anymore. You could always look up statics for the weapons from other sites. (Haven't searched for any, so I don't know where to start.) -
Ping kicked when trying to join.

If you are using DayZ Commander and/or SixLauncher(or whatever it's called now), make sure you stop refreshing for servers before joining one. -
this is for all you dayz loving cotton headed ninnymuggins
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Petrollium's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Edit; I want to add (again) that I have, and still on occasion do, play on 'hardcore' servers with literally every possible setting off. -
Always great to see people want to trade here on the forums. Have some beans.
-
Has been suggested before several times over, but I still approve. Either solution is doable and realistic. Why not both? Mags aren't single-use, so you should be able to refill them from other clips(say, the guy's you just killed.)

Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Petrollium's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What's with the name "koopa" and "merc"/"mercenary", anyway? Who started these aliases? How does a Koopa relate to lurking around corners in any way? And mercenary? A soldier for hire? Or is it supposed to mean "badass?" Edit; And, my vote goes for The Graveyard. OP is an elitist, and the conversation isn't going anywhere, and never will. -
http://www.youtube.com/user/FRANKIEonPCin1080p You might want to watch this guy's DayZ video serie. It's nicely edited to make it far less boring to watch, even if it didn't have the amusing and informative commentary the guy is doing while playing. Plus, he starts playing the part of a good guy after a few episodes, so he's a good role-model for a new player.

Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Petrollium's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was going to give you beans purely for the word "ninnymuggins." But god damn it do I not want to give my beans to someone who seems to be an ass. And just for the sake of the argument, I have, and do play in "everything off" servers. No nametags, no 3rdP, no crosshair, no traces, no nothing. It is much more intense than a server with everything on, yes. But at least I don't call everybody wimps for not wanting to play the way I sometimes do. Edited because nobody loves typos. -

I haven't had any issues with mouse acceleration. There isn't any on my side, from what I can tell.
