Maybe the guys in Closed Alpha will be lucky enough to experience this. But when the masses get in again.. *Sigh* Edit; Not quite sure why it's not embedding it onto the thread, but oh well.

I just dont understand the "unspoken rules" . . HELP !!
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to RepoCult's topic in New Player Discussion
The first server was obviously a clan server, and.. It's not exactly advised to play on those servers, as the server admin/host tends to also be a part of the clan, thus helping the clan to give them an unbeatable advantage. You sound too kind to be treated the way you say you've been treated, so my best advise to you is look up Balota Buddies here on the forums. Quite a few of the forum mods are also a part of the Balota Buddies servers, and I can say for a fact that you won't get this kind of abuse on their servers. Edit; http://balotabuddies.net/ They use a whitelist system and have active admins, so hacking isn't very common on their servers. (I speak from experience.) Probably the friendliest/most helpful community within the DayZ community I know. -
What? Must be a server with a custom version of the mod. The original DayZ hasn't changed its tent models. (To my knowledge, anyway. Please correct me if this is the case.)

Hacker Prevention - A Rather Simple Solution
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to person915's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Here's a couple facts; - You can't change your name in-game at all. Not without a script, which is already hacking. You have to disconnect from the server, and edit/create profile to change your name. - The "unchanging way of identifying players" is already there in the form of a GUID. Although this can apparently be spoofed from other people, it's there. (And BattlEye will still know your real GUID.) -
Is PlayWithSix Virus Free?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Devon206 (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
If you're just looking to play DayZ, use the DayZ Commander. But PlayWithSix is completely safe. I know this as we all had to use it before DayZ Commander existed. -
You apparently have never had the great idea to PRESS ESC before alt-tabbing. It's your own fault, really.
-
You don't need safety for your weapons in-game. You sir, need a safety for your MOUSE if you randomly click every once in a while.

It's amusing how excited people are about the female zombie picture specificly. "Zombies? Meh. FEMALE ZOMBIE? AW YES!!" Not gonna blame them, tho. I'm also pretty happy about more variety. And, it was an interesting read, Dean! The game is looking even better now!

Yes. That. You proved that it did its job.

I take your brand labels and substitute my own!

Why not "D.R.M. - It'll knock you off your feet!" for a drink? (Almost like DMR.) -
Read the last line on my post, genius.

I don't think you quite understood what the "P.S." was for. -
Suggestions or Questions regarding DayZ Standalone
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Kanide's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I doubt we'll be able to dive underwater. For one, as a civilian you won't have the necessary gear to stay submerged long enough to even have the chance of getting into a submarine. For two, I doubt there will be any operating submarines just laying about in water during an apocalypse. They would probably be either far out in the ocean or sunken. -
Yes you will. Leave it and never touch it again. It's the only way. /thread (Actually you won't be banned. But it's a stupidly OP weapon.)

Devblog update: Where is the Standalone?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Hnngh, use the search. Edit; 1. The most commonly speculated price(By Rocket and others) is around 15-20 EUR/USD. 2. The mod will become community developed, and there will no doubt be people playing it. 3. See number 2. 4. Yes. I believe there will be more/improved melee weapons, for example. -

NOBODY IS JOING MY SERVER??
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to TABKD3MPC's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Just by having a server doesn't mean you'll get insta-traffic and 30+ people a day. You'll need patience and be able to govern your server properly. Don't abuse your position as an admin by tracking where players are/have camps and don't ban people for killing you. And not everybody likes the idea of a server filled with vehicles. Might want to take that into consideration. -
Oh man there are SO MANY I WANT TO VOTE. Hnngh, I didn't even manage to scroll down one line and I already used my 5 votes. (Edit; No, I don't mean that I voted "Shout channel" 5 times.) Edit2; http://puu.sh/1RX9i Those were my initial votes. I'll hold up on voting for now because I want to vote when I have the time to read through all the options. And I might come back and explain why I want to vote on some additional things than the 5 I'll end up voting. Because I can, and it might spark a conversation.

It still works, as it's a bug on Steam's side. But if you tab out or unfocus the window, the player will stop.

All these complaints
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to krihelion's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Only a very small portion of people will read this, and even less will actually understand it. There have been several people explaining in already existing threads as well as creating new ones - like yours - stating this exact same thing. People will not learn. They think they're playing a finished game they paid for, and demand fixes to compensate for the money they spent. Some people are very unlikely to realize that all that they're playing, is just a free mod for a game they're completely ignoring. -
No, that would be innovation. But seeing something that makes you want to make something of your own that is somewhat based on the thing that originally gave you the idea or concept, is called inspiration. If a concept artist sees a rare bird with odd colors, and later down the line comes up with a fantasy specie that has some(even if vague) traits of the rare bird, it could be argued that he was inspired by said bird. Even if he wasn't consciously trying to make something similar to it, as we humans are inspired all the time by our environment. We might not notice it, but it happens.
-
That is exactly what "being inspired to do something" means.
-
You misunderstood my post. I added an empty line in the middle to separate two different thoughts. I never said that Chernarus Apocalypse had permadeath, or was open-world survival, or lacked story like DayZ. But frankly, you can't say that it's not a Chernarus Apocalypse inspired mod, as Rocket himself said that he massively enjoyed the mod and has taken some ideas from it. This is why I said it was a Chernarus Apocalypse-INSPIRED.
-
DayZ is not original. Permadeath, zombies, loot, open-world survival, and the entire concept of DayZ is already done. It even started off as a mod inspired by Chernarus Apocalypse.

Redness for justice. Edit; It appears I haven't "officially" been on these forums for longer than you, as my actual account was made 2 months after yours.
