Going to the "next" world after death
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Nuigurumi's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Glitchy BS deaths would force your friends to also kill themselves, which would just piss everyone off. Besides, servers are currently struggling with maintaining ONE world without latency. Barely any servers can do that without any desync. Think what would happen if one server was hosting 5 or 40 worlds, especially if someone just keeps killing themselves? -
Admin abuses should be addressed before SA
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to taco241's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
People who are hosting private servers are allowed to do what ever they want without punishment. The DayZ Hive servers are being monitored and they have very clear guidelines on how to maintain their server, this includes not banning without a lot of solid evidence. If you break the guidelines, your server will be blacklisted from the DayZ Hive. It doesn't prevent you from hosting a private server, though. So really, I think the admin abuse is addressed as far as 'official' servers go. -
Battle-eye global ban
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to spunkydonutz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you were Global Banned, there is nothing anybody on these forums can do. The main developer, Dean 'Rocket' Hall is only the creator of a mod. He has no control over Global Bans by BattlEye. The mods on these forums are also powerless, as all they can do is moderate this forum, by locking/moving/editing posts/threads and banning those violating the forum rules. If you want to make a ban appeal on your Global Ban, please contact BattlEye, and wait for their response. If you cannot do one or the other, then there is no chance for you and frankly, should find another game to play. http://www.battleye.com/support.html - Information on how to appeal to Global Bans. (FAQ & Email) Besides, bypassing BattlEye is considered hacking. So if you even tried that, you'd deserve the ban even more. -
Nude pics if they survive more than two hours without dying. (I'm assuming that they've played enough DayZmod to know their way around most of Chernarus, and know to watch out for doors. They're nude pics I'm betting here, after all.) (This isn't a serious bet, but I'll give beans to every post I can possibly find. Should add up quite a bit of beans.)

how to play this game
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to kingethanthefirst's topic in New Player Discussion
ESC > Options > Controls Read for yourself. It's all there. Hold TAB to use your mic. Press - (dash) to open the chat bar, use ,(comma) and .(period) to cycle though chat channels. Go play the tutorials in ARMA 2 to understand the game. Then come back when you have problems. -
It's the f*ing rocks! So what's the story behind this picture? My friend -- who had formerly quit DayZ -- agreed to join me in my adventures once more. So I waited for him at the North-West Airfield while he ran from Dolina towards me, in pitch black darkness without a map or a compass. He ended up getting jumped by a crawler, knocked unconscious, having his legs broken, and bleeding to death. He tries again, running from the shore to Zelenogorsk and eventually up to me at the airfield. From there we started running towards my group's camp to get him well geared up. After that, we started heading back to the airfield because he felt like sniping some people with a DMR in the night. On our way there, he wanted to round up on a hill and check for people nearby. I decided to run up to the hill and past it, leaving him about 30 meters behind me on the hill. Then I heard a crack, and I started laughing at him over voice chat(Steam), but then I saw the despised "was killed" message. And I started questioning how he died. Apparently, he had simply run against the rock, broken his legs and gone to a shock, and dying only a few seconds later. GG, Arma. GG. (Disclaimer: Neither of us is complaining! I had a good laugh and so did he. Though he couldn't be bothered running back for a third time today.) (Disclaimer2: The reason why I have so little zombie kills and so many murders is because I was picked up with my group's Ural after I spawned, and got my gear from the camp. The kills came from sitting at the airfield with an AS50. You can see the kills in my profile, as I'm keeping a little log on my kills.) Edit: Not sure where I got the genius idea of posting this to Off-Topic, but it's here. If a mod could move this to DayZ General Discussion, that would be great. c: (Unless ofcourse they feel that this would serve more purpose here.)

I just dont understand the "unspoken rules" . . HELP !!
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to RepoCult's topic in New Player Discussion
I used the word "tend" for a reason! I know not all clans/groups are bad, and TS or other programs like that I don't really consider much of an advantage. It's more like a private Side-Chat. -

Wrong sub-forum, buddy. And it's no use to make duplicate threads. They'll just get deleted, moved, or merged. -
anyone else feel like rocket missed the boat with the SA?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to tripl_b's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The hacking was solved long ago, when they finished up the new engine. Bugs are continuously being worked on, that's what Alpha/Beta is for. If you have something against what Rocket is doing with HIS game, feel free to go the USUAL way, and wait for DayZ to be a finished, polished game of its own. Not Alpha, not Beta, but actually something we call a finished game. Edit; The very notion of us being able to play DayZ as it currently stands is a luxury, a privilege most game developers/publishers didn't even consider a year or two ago. -
Many reasons why we need the bandit, survivor, and hero skins back.

Nooonononono. I do NOT give a damn about what the community wants. I was merely implying the behavior the DayZ community has. (Meaning, they shoot on sight no matter what, most of the time.) And I am, and am not against the skin system. It's a two-sided thing for me, since I can see it from both sides. Personally, if I -was- given the power to decided on it, I'd probably keep the skin system out. Mainly because I feel it would interfere with the clothing system in the Standalone. But, at the same time, I can understand why people want the skins, and I don't blame them for that. And I did highlight the word "some," when I was talking about indications. Some indirect indication that might hint what the player's alignment is would be nice, but nothing clearly obvious like forced clothing. (Even the heartbeat was a little too much, I feel.) Edit; I also feel a little dumbfounded/offended due to the fact that you're trying to explain what DayZ is to me, when I've been explaining it to countless people in very lengthy posts, and even have the links to Rocket's own words on what the mod is supposed to be. :I Edit2; I'll make an edit to this post as well, later on, as I'm currently playing something. I read the rest of your post just now, and again, I have some things to say. Edit3; Here we go. -

It all depends on what angle you look at the issues, really. I explained what I mean in my previous post on this thread. (Just updated it, in fact.) -

Have I missed something? Aren't the bandit/hero skins in the mod already? Edit; "Reason 2: How else will we know how to keep track of our humanity? How will we know EXACTLY whether we're good evil or somewherei n between with no humanity meter." People have guns in real life. People kill each other in real life. People still don't suddenly warp into a certain style of clothing depending on their actions. If you kill someone in self-defense in DayZ, 3 out of 5 times you will LOSE humanity, simply because the other guy didn't hit you before you took them down. Same goes for real life, you are not a bad person if you shoot someone who broke into your house at night, even if they were unarmed. It's perfectly legal at least in the US. (And someone who breaks into other people's houses at any time of day is not going to have good intentions. Or they're very wrong int he head otherwise.) Edit2; I read the rest of the post, and I have a bit more to say on a few points, but I'll come back to type more because I'm sitting in a very cramped space on a bus.. (But for example, you have "Example 4" two times.) Edit3; Hokay, let's redo my post properly this time. Redness for justice. ----------------------------------------------------------- But regardless of all that talk let's look at it from a practical stand-point. (It should sound more reasonable than those silly points the OP was trying to make.) DayZ, the mod, the standalone, are games. One's life doesn't hold nearly as much value as it does in real life, and as such, very little respect needs to be had towards another player's life. If we look at the period when there was no hero/bandit skins, it was pretty much chaos and Call of Duty with zombies. It still is, but less so. (Thanks to people like Frankie and others for showing how it's not actually that bad to be a hero/anti-bandit.) It is true that there used to be no way of telling whether the guy you ran into was friendly at all or not, and the quickest and safest solution was to get rid of them. But even with the different skins, you get that issue with new spawns that haven't yet ran into enough people. From a REALISM standpoint, my vote goes AGAINST any set outfits for certain types of players. But from the COMMUNITY BEHAVIOR standpoint, my vote goes FOR some kind of indication of what the player has been doing in their current life. Most of the people currently playing DayZ just shoot on sight, no matter what you do or who you are, and it sucks. I know. I have high hopes while anxiously waiting to see how the Closed Alpha goes, but I'm pretty sure there's going to be the usual 'deathmatch' problem when it's open for everybody again. -
