Standalone Suggestion: Infected Players
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to MrTombadil's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
If it's literally bullets, it wouldn't be possible in terms of realism. A bullet cannot be coated with a liquid of any kind, as the friction with air would burn it completely off within a couple meters of travel. Edit; For example, there was a myth about a female soldier becoming impregnated after a bullet from an enemy rifle had shot through another soldier's ball sack, and somehow into the woman without actually killing her. (Yeah, as if that wasn't ridiculous on its own.) It was proven to not be possible because of the fact that anything on the bullet would 'die' or get burned/dripped off even if it did fly through a bag of any liquid. So, soaking your magazine with infected blood wouldn't probably do much else but wet the gunpowder in the bullets, making them unusable. -
Whats your luckiest moment?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Luke Spencer's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A hacker spawned the entire server into some forest. Sure enough, people were panicking and pointing guns at each other, until some of them couldn't handle the pressure and everybody started shooting each other in self-defense and chaos. I was unarmed, besides for a hatchet, but I didn't even use that as somebody next to me died, and all I did was go lay under his body. Corpses work like brick walls in ARMA 2, meaning, even though some people tried shooting me from under the other guy's body, I took no damage, and was able to abort safely. 10 minutes later I wanted to take my chances, and I got a whole bunch of free loot. -
Base Building. Barracading windows/doors
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to obi_james_kinobi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Welp. I guess I have nothing better to do. http://dayzmod.com/f...ncy-sketches-3/ Edit; Upon re-reading the thread, it seems about just as much of a suggestion as any other forum member's suggestion with some additional pictures. So it's not official, but Rocket has mentioned base-building, similar to that thread's concept/suggestions. -
Explain to me...EXPLAAAAIN TO MEEE
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to JamesMoore's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ Origins is a "prequel" to DayZ, created by fans. So, I guess it's "related" to the official DayZ, but it's not official. Personally I didn't like the concept of DayZ Origins at all, simply for the fact that it's a fan-project. (Edit; Or is it? Someone should correct me with sources, if any.) -
How much are you paying? I mean.. You can set your custom title after you get 300(or was it 500?) beans and get the "Bean King" title. At least that's what it seemed like to me. I had way over 500 posts without 300 beans and I wasn't able to set a title.

You are experiencing desync. No connection to the server or it takes a long time to send updates to the server.

Time After Zombie Virus Started
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to forsakenspirit's topic in New Player Discussion
If Bloodsuckers sounded that ridiculous, I would lose all faith in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. It's actually the monster of Green Mountain from Chernarus Apocalypse, the mod that Rocket hugely enjoyed, and partly gave him the inspiration for DayZ. Edit; -
Base Building. Barracading windows/doors
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to obi_james_kinobi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Base-building is already being worked on. There was some very interesting concept art on the Russian sub-forums. These are mostly things like digging a hole to hide your backpack, and going as far as building a 4x8 meter room underground that you can hide in, included with a box to store items in, and is secured by a lockable door. That was over 5 months ago, though. No idea if it'll actually happen. -
Change Hatchet to a Tertiary Weapon
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to sp86's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Pretty sure the engine doesn't support something like that. If you selected your axe with your F key, and tried to melee, you would do like you do while throwing items, which is, holster your weapon, take out the item, use it, and unholster your weapon again. Since you can't move during this sequence, you'd probably get knocked unconscious and/or bleed heavily because of the zombies. -
Standalone Breaking doors

I wasn't replying to you, though. Making suggestions is always fine, but when someone says "Well maybe he should focus on these things, then." is pushing it. -
What is the difference between a bandit and a coward?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Bandit 1. A robber or outlaw belonging to a gang and typically operating in an isolated or lawless area. No matter which one you do from those situations(the ones you mentioned in your post), you are a bandit. But whether or not you are an HONORABLE bandit or not, that's a whole different story. I'm going to use an example from my all-time favorite game; S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. At one point, when you enter a certain zone through a certain path, you run into a group of about 6 bandits. There's literally no way around them, as it's sort of a tunnel that you're coming from, and they are at the entrance. The guy at the very front will point his gun at you and tell you to holster your weapon. (If you don't, they will open fire.) After you do, he will tell you to slowly approach them, after which the same guy will start a dialog with you, asking for most of your belongings and all of your money. If you choose to refuse, they will open fire. If you oblige, they remain neutral and you get to go past them if you do so quickly. Those bandits were honorable. They were simply doing what they had to do, to survive. They meant no physical harm to others unless they were acting aggressive towards them, thus being an imminent threat. Most of the time the kind of bandits you meet in STALKER are the ones that will instantly open fire on you. These types are far more common, and who are you to blame them in a world ridden with radiation, anomalies and mutants? They just want to stay alive as long as possible. Yes, they are cowards for sometimes shooting you from the back, but ambushing is not a cowardly thing, it's an effective tactic. Edit; The person below me is hilarious. Good one, sir. -
Not entirely, but there were some things that weren't true. - Official servers are not allowed to be whitelisted. They break the code of conduct and will be blacklisted from the official DayZ Hive if they have whitelists or passwords. - Some servers or server providers give you tools of such magnitude that allow you to track players' locations live, as well as every vehicle/tent position. This leads VERY easily to admin abuse, which, will ruin your experience. - Your server cannot be vanilla/unmodded if it has 6 helicopters. The true vanilla DayZ server is running the Chernarus map, which has one(or up to three?) helicopter spawn locations. Not 6. If it's running some other map other than Chernarus, I can't say if it has 6 helicopters by default or not. But that still means it's not "vanilla."

It is actually an intended feature. It's there so people who think a pre-alpha MOD of a game, on a broken engine that was never designed for something like this is supposed to even work properly, could amuse us here on the forums.

Cant connect to any servers...
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to kkiller4's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
That is a "missing file" error. The file "Cfgmagazines.FoodbaconCooked" that should be located at "arma 2 operation arrowhead/bin/config.bin/" is not there. Update your version of DayZ or find a server that is running the same version as you. -
Standalone Breaking doors
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to MuntlumPDeluX's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Rocket already has a schedule of the things he and his team will be developing during 2013, I believe. Pretty sure I read him give a basic schedule in the DayZ SA website. -
Standalone Breaking doors
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to MuntlumPDeluX's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It gets my support, for sure. Breaking down a door obviously creates a lot of noise, so the player would have to take a risk of attracting zombies (or even players, the louder they are) just to open a door. This would give windows an importance as well, since you would basically have to try and peek in to see if the stuff was worth breaking in for. -
It has been suggested and discussed quite a bit by the forum community. I Have, and still do support it, as it IS a realistic option if there was an apocalypse. I know I would probably at least give it a try if there was literally nothing else to eat and my only other option was to die of starvation. Edit; (Meat is meat. If you cook it enough it will be edible. It's not like human flesh is much different to that of a cow, pig, or chicken. That said, no, I am not a closed-cannibal.)

I assume you're talking about the animations? Animations are not important. It's not a finished game. Wait for later patches.

So much inaccurate/incomplete information that I felt like making up for your post.

DayZ Standalone Suggestion - Loot
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Bazwalt's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You should look into WarZ. They have loot glow. -
Not sure if posted for pun.. Or actually think I wrote something wrong.

Sounds pretty frisky. That's probably why they call it "frisking."

Problem with .50 calibers
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Admiral_Blunts's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
+1 If you were to try and fire a .50 caliber anything while just standing up, it should kick like a pissed off horse. We're survivors -- not soldiers. (Realistically speaking some of the characters would be, but that wouldn't put everybody in the same situation which is kinda the point of DayZ.) -
[Standalone] Quickjoin/No server list
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to DerMarv's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I would actually be very happy with it, as long as the group didn't spawn in any special way. (ie. Near each other.)
