I can kind-of get behind this idea, but honestly, I find it the most cruel way to die when you're shot killed without a moment to spare, to reflect upon your life, or to think about those you care for. Yes, a slow death can look cruel, but when you're told that your time was NOW, and not 20 seconds in the future, that can be the most painful thing to imagine. I kind of like how STALKER did it. When you die, your view goes third-person, and you see a glimpse of your character flopping on the ground with a groan/sigh/last breath. Then you get to stare at your dead body as the world tramples over you like you meant nothing to it.

Day Z is soon to be dead

It was more of an ironic question meant to point out the fact that nothing happened the way people expected. -
Day Z is soon to be dead
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Henyo10's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I accidently ended up on this thread when looking for the post where someone mentioned Mortal Online not too long ago, but I just wanted to ask.. How did things turn out? /pointless resurrection of an irrelevant thread -
Posting your computer specs is like the first rule of troubleshooting through forums. Get to it.

That was a 107 alright. M107 has the hollow echo, AS50 has a higher-piched snap. (No, not talking about the snap you hear when a bullet flies past you.)

Pirated versions of the game are subjected to Degrade. This means that you will be able to play the game, but parts of it will be changed to render the game unplayable. This includes, but is not limited to; - Being turned into a crow - Weapon(firearms and vehicles) accuracy is so bad you cannot reliably aim at anything that isn't basically touching you - Movement speed slowed down to a crawl To fix it; Buy the actual game. Now, obviously the crow thing happens on legit copies as well, since it's also a spectator mode. (This is what you're experiencing if you have actually bought it from Steam/GamersGate/GreenManGaming/etc.) Best you can do is try a different server(or servers), as well as verify the game cache through Steam. (Right click your game and select Properties.) Which ever of my assumptions is correct, those are your solutions. No matter what you say here will change the facts, so the "I bought the game from Steam" is pointless, as I've covered both topics.

As long as you didn't have Cheat Engine running and/or didn't scan the ARMA 2 process, that's probably NOT why you were banned. Say what you will, but in the end, you know what you did. If you honestly don't, then your key was stolen and your only option is to contact BattlEye/Bohemia and/or buy a new copy.

There was nothing said about a Global Ban.

http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/124927-current-problems-with-the-steam-version-of-dayz-mod/ ^ That is basically what I told to a friend of mine, in the simplest way possible. Those were also the first problems I encountered with the Steam version within the first 10 minutes of trying it out. ... For the most part, it seems like everything that says "DAYZ" under Mission, is up-to-date AND connected to the DayZ-hive. But right now there doesn't seem to be any way (or hints) on getting the mission files for different maps, which, again, doesn't help those that the Steam version is clearly aimed for. -
The default screenshot key for ANY Steam game is F12. Use that. Besides, I don't think it's possible to mod in a screenshot function, to allow the engine to create rendered files and save them onto your computer.

There's already a combat indicator that disables your "Abort" button for 30 seconds or until you're out of combat. But there is no way to prevent someone from disconnecting. You can just ALT-F4 and it will almost instantly make you vanish from the server.

The better video card for Dayz?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to hippo123's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
In your case I'd just pick the lesser bad and go with MSI GT 210. The ARMA 2 engine is more taxing on your CPU(processor), rather than your graphics card, though. So even with top-of-the-line graphics cards, you'll get lag if your processor can't keep up. -
The big "why the standalone will win" thread
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to ponc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
"Alpha" is a developer-abbreviation of "Shit ain't working properly yet." -
You lose humanity based on the damage you deal to actual players. (Zombies don't affect your Humanity.) You don't have to kill others to officially be a bandit. Hurting will be enough. As long as you consider yourself a bandit, you are one. A skin doesn't change that. There are even people abusing the Humanity system and getting themselves the hero skin and then going off to kill people who don't realize to shoot back fast enough.

The big "why the standalone will win" thread
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to ponc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Here's an ancient game for you; Mount&Blade: Warband. You can have over 200 players in the same server, all playing at once. It was released in 2009, same as ARMA 2. Scavenge to survive? Start a base? How about Minecraft? Don't Starve? ZombiU(no base-building)? Dead Block? Dead Rising(more or less)? Hell, even WarZ. (Don't start, Forum.) Don't read my first post wrong. I was -- and still am -- in love with DayZ. I am only being realistic and pointing out the fact that there are no original concepts in DayZ. But the collection and execution of them is something that hasn't happened with many games. No game has to be original in order to become great. -
The big "why the standalone will win" thread
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to ponc's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Name one thing that you can do in DayZ that you can't do in any other game. Please, I'm waiting. Edit(oh god); The DayZ community is NOT patient. That is an outright lie. (I guess it's gotten a lot more quiet now, but it used to be really terrible back before December 2012. Regardless, we still get those "wen does dayz rlease?" and "dis y dayz wil fail" threads.) Edit; My reply was in response to the one above me. The thread he made was merged to this one. -
You passively gain Humanity regardless of what you do. Everybody starts at 2500 Humanity, and you either lose or gain Humanity through activities you do in-game. If you go below 2500 Humanity, you will start to slowly gain humanity. If you go above 2500 Humanity, your Humanity will not increase -- or decrease -- passively.

As much as I LOVE Vintorez(I'd hump it if I had one.), I'd have to agree after reading the post. Beans. Have them.

You can list me as back-up. Need to sleep a ton to fix my sleeping schedule as well as update the mod(which I guess would be necessary in any case, if it's an unreleased patch).

Details on how the new server-client network technology should work
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to WockaWocka's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Out of everything you said; This is what I want you to focus on for a while. What do you mean by "correctly?" I'm sure that if you know something we don't, you'll be able to make big bucks with that knowledge. Which I doubt you do know. And this is not an insult -- don't read it as that. Hacking will never be impossible. That is my point. If it's connected to the internet, it can be hacked. Even if it's a closed network with no 'real' connection to the 'public internet.' -
This shit needs to be patched.(Removing buildings)
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to poodude28 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
It cannot be patched, as almost everything is client-side in ARMA 2. You CAN however force the server to check for specific files. If they are missing, you cannot join the server. That's the only fix you can do.
