Don't suggest them the Steam version. It's far from user-friendly, compared to anything else.
-
Hasn't it been said over and over again that it'd be impossible to do due to an engine limitation in the net-code? Edit; When they were designing the engine, they weren't considering the kinds of situations and conditions people might run into 5 years after the game's release.

In standalone will I need to open a pharmacy?

Zombies shouldn't be even nearly as glitchy as they are in the mod. -
Behold; The spectator mode.

Even I don't approve of this.

Niggers.(Been watching Django Unchained.) Black slaves. Or slaves in general, but mostly the black. They would be bought and sold, tortured and worked to death as if they were a slowly decaying, sub-intelligent(by that time's standards) tool. One of your slaves died? Welp. Time to go dump the body and pick up a new one from the market. Rinse and repeat. It's been like that less than 500 years ago. It still happens to an extent in certain parts of the world. I'm pretty sure I'm venturing a little off-topic here, but regardless, not only the complete psychopaths can kill without feeling bad. The way you use the word "all" is far too vast for the type of point you're trying to get across. (Yes, I can see what you're trying to say.) People have been killing people ever since we've become to existence. It is extremely naïve for you to say that anybody who has ever taken a life -- and wasn't crazy -- feels bad for it. No. There are people who have been in wars and killed multiple people, hundreds, even, and don't regret what they've done. Yes, some people lie about it, yes, some people admit to feeling bad, and YES, some people do eventually become unstable due to the inability to cope with their guilt. If you gave me a rifle with a scope on it, pointed your finger at a person in the distance who has done nothing good for the world, is a criminal of some sort, or otherwise. I most likely won't have much trouble taking the shot. They're far away. The bullet will travel the distance before I get the chance to get back on target, so there would be barely any mental blockage for the kill itself.

Like mentioned before, BattlEye bans are instant. You would've already received a ban if you were going to get one at all. BattlEye has confirmed though, that you can't get banned by hackers using remote-scripts on you. (Such as changing your inventory, spawning boxes through/around you, or dropping hacked-in weapons for you to use.)
-
It's nothing to do with the server. It's an obvious case of a hacker "passing on" their "powers" onto another player. It'll probably show up in the server logs, but it shouldn't get you banned. (Or not, since you aren't actually doing anything besides changing your rotation?) BattlEye bans are instant, so you'd already know if you were in trouble.

The Physics and Bug Fixes for Standalone Release
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to KernelKlink's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Just some comments I'd like to make. - You can use V to jump/vault over objects about up to your mid-thigh. The same feature will be in the Standalone. - The reason why the melee combat is absolute ass is because ARMA 2 doesn't have a melee system at all. Your axe is actually a remodeled gun with a swing animation slapped onto it when you fire. Noticed the puff of smoke yet? - Moving through buildings(stairs/doors) is kind of a problem because of the player's skeleton. It's been fixed for the Standalone already, you'd know this if you had watched through the dev-blogs. - DayZ is NOT trying to promote realism. Rocket himself has said this. The word you're looking for is authenticity. - Again, the doors being opened by zombies is an engine limitation in ARMA 2. Not sure if there's been progress on that in the Standalone as of yet, but it'll be addressed, I can promise you that. - You can actually spawn anywhere on the beach-area, from the South-West corner of the map, up to the East-side, near Berezino. It's all just chance. (And why would you keep going to a KNOWN hot-spot even if you spawned near it? You're just asking to get shot.) - The loot-rates and spawning has also been addressed in the Standalone to some degree. Entire towns can get looted clean by players as the loot doesn't spawn once every 10 minutes when there's no player within 200 meters. -
I don't really agree with a whole lot of this. There have been better suggestions for solving the rampant kill-on-sight mentality, but I can't really recall anything besides for the always-lowered weapon by default because I've been awake for who knows how long. Correct me if I'm wrong, but DayZ is not out to punish different play-styles. It doesn't really make sense that you'd get worse at killing by killing. Hell, I couldn't even watch an animal get slaughtered, but there are people who do it as their job every day. I think that's a pretty valid comparison for "what if there was an apocalypse." Most of us aren't used to killing people. It's not something the majority of us will ever do. But if there was a zombie apocalypse, and we were exposed to the death of other people, be it close ones or strangers -- surely the survival instinct would kick some desensitization into our heads. If you show some elderly person Call of Duty, they'd probably look at you can think of you as a weirdo for thinking it was fun. But here we are, playing violent games left and right, shooting, slashing and blowing up everything that's coded to do so. I don't think it's weird. You don't think it's weird. But that's because we've been exposed to it long enough. Edit; dolan pls stahp im blush

Can't see helicopter crash loot
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to robax (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
But you can still interact with the loot, correct? If you can, then your best bet is to move around the helicopter crouched, and do a little sweeping motion with your crosshair from side-to-side. You'll eventually hit something to pick up, if there is anything. -
Apparently, we're getting a new gear menu UI. Discuss.

Finally found antibios then......
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to puk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Why would you ever ALT-F4 in that situation? Switch seats and fly that thing. When you log back in later when the heli is long gone, you'll spawn into the air and die a hilarious pathetic death. At least if you fly, you'll have some chance. -

Is it? Where did Razor first post this? (I missed it, damn it.) There are too many things that I've noticed for me to think it's for the mod. -

I'm 95% sure that they are actually empty slots. Notice how the AK47(Which he isn't actually carrying, by the way.) is very vibrant in color. Then look at the Glock icon for the sidearm. Pretty sure that means that he doesn't have anything in that slot, and with that assumption, the tone for the sidearm and the equipment slot is the same. This might mean that he doesn't have anything in those slots. Other than that, yes, it's mostly a reskin. More so, it's probably just a photoshopped image(Again, he doesn't have an AK47 in his hand.), so maybe the arrows are just planned implementations for swapping weapons to and fro from the backpack. Edit; Or perhaps you can carry two primary weapons AND a sidearm. And the "Carrying" is where the holstered primary weapon is placed while the other is in use. Edit2; That said, I'm assuming this'll be for the Standalone, correct? Edit3; Wait. If this'll be for the standalone, maybe there's already attachments implemented, hence the scope obstructing the rifle? Oh god. So many things that I can see each time I look at the screenshot! D: RAZOR. I'M TRYING NOT TO GET HYPED. DAMN YOU TOO, COLEKERN. Edit4; Yup. Got carried away. I now know that it's for the mod. :3 -

Mod suggestion: Player Model Zombies
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to klesh's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The zombies are not undead. They are infected people that are still alive. Hence why they die from body-shots, for example. Edit; THAT SAID, I would NOT mind the player models being used for zombies. Who says only those who survived so far are walking around in light body-armor and/or a very specific set of clothing? -
Will anyone else play KOS in SA when it comes out?

The sarcastic troll is strong with this one. +Beans for suckering people into an obvious trap. (But I don't advice making it a habit.) -
DayZ Commander not installing DayZ - HALP
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to sarym's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
The download server is down. You'll have to wait. (That, or your connection is having problems with connecting to said server. Less likely I'd say, since you're posting here just fine.) -
Pic: How a medic / health status window or tab could look like in the SA
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to ponc's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The HUD will be replaced with either visual indicators or something you can hear. (Stomach growling: Hungry.) I don't think there will be any text popping up like "lolbro u shud nom sum snacks. yo ass is 2skinny" And from what I've heard Rocket say before, there won't be anything that tells you what exactly you're sick with, either. Every disease will have its real-life symptoms and you'll have to treat them accordingly. So I'm assuming you'll need to learn those symptoms as well. -

Standalone Release Predictions
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Jgut90's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Steam uses a 1 USD = 1 EUR policy. So the "American version" would be cheaper. My prediction will be August at its earliest. Not even half of the people in the Alpha still have access to the game. I'd imagine they want to be able to have at least all the 1000 players playing at the same time(or at least HALF of them) before releasing on Steam, to make sure that their hive can handle all the servers sending and receiving data at the same time. The price? $8 - $15. That has been Rocket's estimate for the longest time. -
Standalone Zombie Jumping
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to globalfriction's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
DayZ is not realistic. Rocket doesn't even try to make a realistic game. Rocket aims for authenticity, and for features that he thinks might work in the game. That said, DayZ is in Alpha, and feedback IS wanted AND encouraged. So let's not argue. Discuss instead. (That goes for everybody.) Personally I think the jumps look a little odd. No, not because I think that zombies can't jump. But because of the pose they jump in, and their pose right before the jump. They seem to just jump up chest-first. Rocket should take a look at Snorks from S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and study how the transition from their running pose to the jump goes.
