You'll have to get used to it. It's the best and the biggest there is as far as PC gaming goes. Almost everything requires it. You can get away with just buying ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead, if you download ARMA 2: Free. (Demo of ARMA 2.)
-
You'll need to make a new account to be able to buy the game(s) again. But as per my policy, I won't let you in on how to change the keys once you have it.

Question about DayZ Official Client
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Puremukku's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Pretty sure you've heard partially true information. DayZ will become its own game, on a new engine. It will be sold on Steam, and will use VAC as anti-cheat. -
DayZ Standalone Discussion
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to griffinz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's worse when a Half-Life 2 mod causes you to get VAC banned, and it bans you from other games you play as well. And it stays announced on your account to haunt you even several years after the actual ban.I keep having to hear "lol ur argument is invalid cuz u hack lol" from people. -
An Idea From AC3 And Rising Storm
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Devon206 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
ARMA 2 doesn't feature a "patch of blood where you hit the enemy." There are only a couple stages of how bloody you can get, which include multiple patches of blood all over the body. But what ARMA 2 does have, is blood spraying out from where you were hit. So I don't know how you confused those two in your AC3 comparison. -
DayZ Standalone Discussion

No. VAC. -
Welcome to ARMA 2, we have crab-people.

It's not the amount of stuff you post, but what people notice/remember you by. Having 10k posts doesn't automatically make you popular. Nor does it make you a good forum member. (Spammers don't tend to stay in the good light.) 700 posts is a number that could easily get you stuck in people's minds, as long as you say either funny things, or things many agree with. Edit; +1 vote for Capn's Cruncy Nuts. Edit2; 5 people give me beans, and nobody pointed out my typo? The hell guys? "Yould" instead of "could" shouldn't be acceptable from me.

[Standalone] Using Flashlight on Map
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Statik (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yup. +1 from me as well. A neat little detail, although I wouldn't say it should be something up there in the priority list. -
As much as it would work in some other type of game, radiation has nothing to do with anything in DayZ. So I doubt it's going to be implemented.

DayZ is no longer what it used to be...
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to BluDrifter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Uhm. Excuse me? Nobody has stopped updating the mod, where did you hear that from? -
Allowing server Admins to spawn banned items (server side/private)
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to SASZane (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You're forgetting the fact that while Bohemia may have created a modern-military simulator, they purposely designed the game engine to be extremely open so it would be easy to modify by its userbase. Their goal wasn't just to make a simulator. They wanted to make a game that was meant to be modded with ease. Which is what Rocket did. Edit; I think we're getting a little side-tracked. Not entirely, but. Still. -
Allowing server Admins to spawn banned items (server side/private)
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to SASZane (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Uhm. Yes we would? - ARMA 2, which was made by Bohemia Interactive, has its own goals, and they have stuck to it, not catering to those who want a more arcade-y shooter. But they HAVE allowed outsiders to modify their game to their hearts' content. - DayZ, which was made by Rocket, has its own goals, and he is planning to stick to them, not catering to those who want to find guns faster, zombies easier, and not die as often. But he HAS allowed outsiders to make variations of the DayZ mod to their hearts' content. See where I'm getting at? -
Can i play on a Server that has the older Version of Arma 2 and Dayz?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Splaze's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Successful unintentional troll is successful. Being rude to those who are rude -- repeatedly -- doesn't make you any better. Back on-topic; Now I'm confused. What I was trying to ask is; Is the base game version backwards-compatible? Can you use a v1.62 of ARMA 2 to join v1.11, etc? So far I have been/am assuming that you can't. But you're basically saying two things that don't confirm anything one way or the other. -
Can i play on a Server that has the older Version of Arma 2 and Dayz?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Splaze's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Grammatical errors: 9 In all seriousness, I'm aware that you can join a server that's running on an older beta patch, but does it still work if the servers is running on an older version of the game itself? I know many games where this isn't the case, so I'm curious. -
KSVK in the mod, good or bad idea?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to plexico's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
What am I confusing KSVK with, then? Or maybe I'm just confusing two terms. I haven't slept for.. 14-ish hours now, so I apologize. -
Allowing server Admins to spawn banned items (server side/private)
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to SASZane (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The weapons aren't "banned." They're simply weapons that have been removed from the spawn-tables. There are a TON of weapons that are in the game but are never seen in the DayZ mod. (With the exception of the AS50 also having its damage reduced to 0 as well.) You can still add your own weapons into the spawn-tables, adjust their rate, and their damage. -
My brother was kicked why am I ?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Darkdeath17's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Could be an IP ban or the keys didn't change after you switched accounts. -
KSVK in the mod, good or bad idea?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to plexico's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
From personal experience through ARMA 2, I don't think I'd mind the KSVK much. It's an anti-tank rifle, not something designed for use against infantry. Then again, a high-grade military weapon like that would seem rather unreal for a zombie apocalypse. In a military-base or not. -
Who is your favourite DayZ youtuber?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Skypill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
PsycoRevolution. Edit; I was going to, but then I remembered Psyco does it better. -
can the steam version of dayz run other maps
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to meat pie's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This should sum it up pretty well. -
SA OREGON TRAIL STYLE IDEA!!!
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to TheOldManoftheNorth's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm fairly confident that there WILL NOT be a class system of any kind. Everybody starts at the same level, knee-deep in beach-mud, and have to work their way up from there. -
Could it be possible that a bandit had changed their clothing, and then a survivor had picked up the bandit's old clothing? The humanity doesn't change based on the clothing, and the clothing can be changed to another outfit.
-
I highly doubt it's possible to do in the mod. But it will be implemented in the Standalone if I recall correctly.

GUID Changed, but same CD Key, PID
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to ScouterIV's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
A GUID is a one-way hash of the player's CD-key. There is no way for the GUID to change without acquiring a new CD-key. Edit; Oh thank god the forums are back. I was starting to weep in the corner o'er yander.
