SA: Suggestion for terrain side effects
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Frytek's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Only when going too steep up/downhill. -
bin config.bin/cfgmagazines.itemnails
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to 1nsect's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You guys need to join servers running on 1.8, while having 1.8 installed. That error does not come up unless either you or the server is running on the latest version of the mod. -
So what are you expecting if not KoS?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to bfisher's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Personally, I just wish some people wouldn't try to flank you and blow you full of holes as soon as they heard "Friendly?" or "Yo! Dude!" They can run away and/or if they want, they can yell back at you to stay away or else they'll shoot(warning), or anything else that didn't involve one of you dying. I also DON'T want for all bandits to disappear. If there wouldn't be any people that tried to kill you on sight, the game wouldn't be as interesting. The tension of seeing a stranger in the distance wouldn't be there anymore, so all we'd do is mindlessly hoard loot until we died of boredom and quit after shooting up a couple dozen zombies in the middle of Chernogorsk. But the bandits shouldn't just be people that kill you and take your stuff, either. If you get snuck-up on, you kind of deserve to die. But wouldn't it be kind of awesome and/or more exciting if they held you up while going through your stuff and eventually leaving you there with little-to-no equipment? Or doing the classic dick-move of shooting you after they're done with you. (This would still give you a chance to escape or slightly sabotage their progress. -
Question regarding gear...
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to timedance's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Some stuff can glitch out and get completely removed from the world or appear underground when dropped. And items spawned by the loot-system can sometimes refresh even though you're right next to them.* *May not be applicable to variations of the DayZ mod. -
Day Z Interface
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to elektrobanks (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I like it. It's simple and clean, and the brackets are easy to see at all times. BUT. I'm not sure I'd be happy if the Standalone used that(or something similar). Looks a little too advanced for a worn-down zombie apocalypse environment. But as a HUD/crosshair in general, I love it. And I'd love to have anything similar in some other FPS. (Planetside 2 kind of does the same, except the brackets are larger.) -
You have to apply on the server's website or contact the host.

He doesn't post that information, so no.

DayZ Standalone map editor
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The thread will probably get locked unless the discussion picks up noticeably, but.. I'm REALLY not looking to start playing the Standalone, only to have it end up like the mod, with very few servers running on the original content without added vehicles/weapons/loadouts to make the game pointlessly easy to play and a simple deathmatch mode on a massive area. I have been against the idea, and I will not budge from my opinion. (Even if Rocket DID approve of an editor.) If people want to run around a map and pick up weapons from the ground to shoot other people, they should play Scavenge Mode on BF3 or simply the many DayZ mod variations on ARMA 2. Or hell, just play Wasteland to get rid of the zombies. Edit; How many games are suffering from problems due to lack of community-made content? -
not correct arma directory
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to itamar (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
These are the directories you are supposed to use in DayZ Commander: \Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 2 \Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead \Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead\@DayZ Obviously you need to modify the path so that it corresponds the installation path on your computer. -

DayZ Standalone Discussion
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to griffinz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thank you. Somebody said what I've been thinking for months. -
I'm assuming he means the same system that is used for most Source engine games. (Not necessarily the same look. Just the internal stuff.) The Standalone will be using VAC, so I guess it makes sense. The ARMA 2 menus can't be changed as far as I know, though. At least I've never seen that done. If it was possible, I'm sure things like DayZ Commander and PW6 would be built into the game as mods as well.

Help!?! ( sorry if its in the wrong place )
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to KenzieHD's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Make sure the server you're joining is the same version as what you have. If you're using Steam, it should be 1.7.7.1. (Unless I'm behind on the patch notes.) -
Is DayZ a hardcore survival simulator?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Fonebook's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It tries to be. Whether consciously or not. The mod? I don't think so. I don't think it's complex enough to be a survival simulator. Where is barricading? Who throwing around all this stuff on the ground? (Though 1.7.7.1 kind of fixed it.) Why is everybody able to run continuously for 200km back and forth, both uphill and downhill without needing a break? There are things that it needs to be doing before we can definitely call it a simulator. At least a proper one. There are things that can be forgiven for two things; 1. It's a game, not a virtual reality. (yet) 2. A simulator doesn't mean "perfect." It's supposed to simulate, not emulate. (There is a difference.) -
DayZ Standalone Alpha
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to A_6_year_old's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's been that way ever since the mod became popular. -
1. You've looked into the game, know that it interests you, and you're polite about it. 2. Knew the game was rated above your current physical age. 3. Not even the people on Garry's Mod have given you a hard time. Not something I'd personally care for anyway, but it's always a plus. 4. You're considerate of the community as a whole, even though it doesn't make that big of an impact. 5. I would applaud your grammar. In fact, I will. *Claps* Those are some reasons why I think you are mature enough to play the game, and a fine addition to the community. Welcome. Welcome to City Sev-- Er. To the forums.

The term was not invented by him.
-
Welp. Let's hijack the thread I guess. You did it first, though. Just putting it out there. Newbie, or "newb" is a new player to the game. The word "noob" is/was made up (originally) as an insult word (like how "fag" is used) for bad players that didn't want to admit that they were doing bad. Bambi, as far as I understand, is just another word for newbie. A person learning to take the first steps in a new environment.

As a devoted S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fan... Yes please. Even though it can sometimes feel like it doesn't make any sense that you can carry 15 pistols around with no problems at all, but having 16 causes you to get instantly exhausted and unable to take another step. Edit; And as pointed out by other people in the thread, having a weight system without proper weights makes the whole concept pointless.

Beautiful. Just beautiful.
-
Wouldn't that be even MORE of a reason to run into the closest city? Bigger cities have more spawn-points for loot, thus the chance of finding supplies is much higher.
-
That's just beautiful looking. Mosin Nagant and Mauser Karabiner 98k are two of my favorite weapons. (Kar98k goes above Mosin, but they're both up there on my list.)

When you buy Arma II: CO Or Any Other Game From Steam, how Does It Take The Money From You?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to LewisJ99's topic in New Player Discussion
Incoming derail, choo-choo. You do pay for the service when using PayPal. 1. PayPal takes a small fee when you transfer money onto your account.(?) 2. PayPal charges you a little more than you intend to spend when you gift money through PayPal, and the other person gets what you meant to send them. 3. PayPal charges the seller a small fee when they receive money through PayPal. So if you PAY instead of gifting, the other person gets a little less, while you don't pay extra. BUT. Back onto topic: These are all the payment methods you can use with Steam. (Picture) -
Game needs a sniper heavier than 7.62

Now you're just confusing me. Are you misinformed, bad at explaining, or a hypocrite?
