The only solution for DayZ: Simulation.
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to SalamanderAnder (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Give this man more beans. For effort's sake if nothing else. And, OP, it's funny that you post that Take on Helicopters tutorial video. It was used by Rocket(?) as well to give us an idea on how difficult he wants to make flying a helicopter. Surely there will be a lot of detail added to vehicles (at least the more complex ones), but it's doubtfully a priority anytime soon. A weight system has definitely been talked about as well, and we'll probably hear more about it relatively soon. Personally, I can't wait. Edit; Even bigger font. We must give more. -
Steam is the one calling them "betas." It actually has nothing to do with the Beta stage of DayZ. You can find the same option in some other games, even finished ones.

Alpher is Pipsi.

Can't you just hit ESC and respawn when your legs break?

I believe each server is set to the timezone it physically exists on. Not all servers are on the same hour. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong!)

Press T to lift your weapon before using it. Some melee weapons have to be raised before they'll properly hit anything.
-
Not really.. Imagine if it was possible in the mod. Bandit squads with Mk.40s driving around Cherno and gunning down everything and everyone they saw. If this was to ever be implemented, I'd like to have it limited to secondary weapons only.

Why does Dean always play SA with shit graphics?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
miffy pls Let other people use whatever graphic settings they want. -
Gun attachments? What kind would you like to see?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to {TMW} Crackahhh's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So everything that was shown in yesterday's stream. :3 (Except for the flashlight) I want to be able to rip clothing into pieces and use them for (somewhat inconvenient) camo or decor. -
I think the reasoning for the decision is to make sniping harder. At the end of the day, it's still a video game. ARMA 2 and 3 are the actual simulators.

What is 1 clothing item that you would want in DAYZ
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to thedeathstroke's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
All I want is a simple scarf around your neck. It wouldn't even have to be a long one, so it could be mostly static (no effort goes into rigging the thing). -
It's going to be* removed.

Will the SA actually be a zombie game?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to mrgrendel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is that specific individual's choice. If he wants to kill you instead of bothering to even enter close combat, what are you to do, other than hide or get shot? That problem will be mitigated by the fact that there won't be more than maybe one or two scoped rifles, and I'm hoping none of them will be the kind that instantly kill you. Yes. In the original DayZ mod. Where have you been all this time? (Semi-serious question, I actually haven't seen you post!) -
Will the SA actually be a zombie game?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to mrgrendel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Is it tested? Yes. Is it fun? Definitely for some. Is it going to be possible in the Standalone? No. It's not the kind of thing that fits the scope of what DayZ is trying to be. Not unless Rocket suddenly wants to step outside of the human-player <> human-player interaction. Edit; I'm not saying what I am because I disagree with you. I'm saying them because I've been around for a looong time and I've seen and heard a lot of things that Rocket has said several times, in several places. So I'm fairly confident that I know -- to a point -- what Rocket is willing to put into the game. Experimenting is never bad, but not everything can be put in one place. -
Will the SA actually be a zombie game?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to mrgrendel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
> Zombie survival game > Control zombies and zombie bosses Gah. No. Please. You should do your research on the Standalone. Read the Twitter, or even just the dev-blog. (Which is yet to be updated since a couple months ago, but there is always the announcement section.) There's not going to be different "skins" you get for doing x or y. You have what you find. That's it. And the zombies will be more of a threat in the Standalone because we can actually do something about them. (Like giving them "gesture" attacks instead of having them stop to throw a punch, or jump at you to knock you to the ground.) Edit; Most of the problems AI and movement-wise are due to the limits of the engine, not so much the mod itself. Although yes, it is an MMOFPS. But it's the population that made it so. (And it's not entirely their fault, the issue loops back to zombies and around again.) -
Current problems with the Steam version of DayZ mod
Dancing.Russian.Man posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
^ That is basically what I told to a friend of mine, in the simplest way possible. Those were also the first problems I encountered with the Steam version within the first 10 minutes of trying it out. I feel that -- as good of an attempt it may be -- it isn't the wisest way to just publish a 'variation' of ARMA 2 that hides all other servers besides those that are running the DayZ mod or variations of it. People who don't play ARMA 2 or don't use the in-game browser are VERY likely to get confused with the kind of errors ARMA 2 gives you. Some kind of indication or basic explanations of the errors you get should be added either here on the forums(might do that, here) or in the Steam version of the mod itself. Edit; For the most part, it seems like everything that says "DAYZ" under Mission, is up-to-date AND connected to the DayZ-hive. But right now there doesn't seem to be any way (or hints) on getting the mission files for different maps, which, again, doesn't help those that the Steam version is clearly aimed for. Edit2; Also forgot to mention the VERY first mistake I made, which I only just now realized in a reply somewhere else: -

No. And this thread should be locked in case of future necroing. -
With standalone approaching.... AIRPLANES
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to weparo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There we go. No need to thank me. And if you're trying to tell us that planes are simple things to fly/control, why are you required thousand(s) of hours of training to actually fly one(professionally)? And no, I'm not talking about a pilot's license that requires about 40 hours or so. -
Server performance CAN affect your client's FPS. Edit; Your connection or server-ping DOESN'T affect your FPS, however.
-
I can run that game on a potato. Too bad the game doesn't launch with anything less than a toaster. Edit; Oh look, another i7. Your multi-core set-up is (most likely) the culprit, ARMA 2 MP / the DayZ mod is known for falling on its knees on i7 processors.* * Experiences vary.
-
No it won't. You have to launch ARMA 2 and ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead separately, before you can play the DayZ mod. If you're still having issues, you can read the installation instructions / error explanations here.

Why no Zombie children again?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Forgewolf's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
"Attacking" opinions is what I do. I barely post nowadays unless I disagree with something. (Because, hey! Easy discussion.) I do take that last message back, though. I misquoted(in two ways) and acted like a douche because of having been already annoyed for completely unrelated reasons. These would've been the more appropriate messages for me to quote: And in that light, I stand by what I said in my first message on Page 1. -
Why no Zombie children again?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Forgewolf's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Oh really now? Well gosh, let me just go back and re-read your.. Oh. Wait, hold on. I guess I was right after all. Edit; I no longer agree with this message. Scroll down. -
Why no Zombie children again?
Dancing.Russian.Man replied to Forgewolf's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Can I just lay myself across both sides of the argument? If someone is playing zombie games(or games like BF or CoD) where they're gunning down hundreds of people in a couple hours, but are so mortally struck by their consciousness when they see a virtual child that they can't click their mouse, I don't think those people should play heavy shooters at all. It's not real, just bash that thing into the ground. Stomp for good measure. As for actually having them added or not, losing respect for a developer because he won't do it (looking at you, Raymond) is kind of hilarious. Rocket is an employee, still. If the publisher (Bohemia) doesn't want us to be able to shoot kids, Rocket can't do anything about it. And if Rocket doesn't want them added, so what? Just look at L4D, Killing Floor, Dead Rising, The Last of Us, Resident Evil, etc. None of those had killable children as far as I can remember, but were they bad or unrespectable games? No. Then there's games like Dead Space where you are literally stomping on babies. Why weren't people losing their shit over that? I don't think zombie children would add anything to DayZ. Someone mentioned that they could be faster because they were smaller but that's not how legs work. They're faster in NMRiH because the adults -- for the most part -- don't run, while all of the children do. And like Chris529 said, the virus would be more likely to just kill them due to their weaker immunity system, than turn them. -
Hey now. Like I said, I understood where you were going with it. Besides, my skim-reading skipped over the "that I'm not" part. My eyesight is 20/20, now that you mentioned.
