While the robbery system is nice it won't work.

It's interesting to see that human bean juice, especially one with a high compatability, is a sought after commodity.

While the robbery system is nice it won't work.

I think it's important to think less of these as systems and more as mechanics. DayZ's development strikes me as being more about providing players with items that don't work in a single way but provide the means to use them in ways that promote interesting experiences. Robberies might not go your way every time, they might make for an interesting tool in other ways.

"dude calm down it's just an Alpha"

You've just got to be discerning about what you report. If it's something that's clearly down to lack of optimisation like silly zombie behaviour or bad framerates then suck it up, it's alpha. But suggestions, bug reports that the dev may have missed and criticisms about development should be welcomed. I think that people dismiss a lot of valid ideas on the forum with claims that the SA being in alpha makes it immune to criticism.

    SLI/Crossfire Support

As someone playing on one core of a 4870X2, I need an answer to this!
  5. Exciting to see parachutes as lootable items. I can't wait to decide who gets "the" parachute in the case we have to eject from our heli!

Zombies as a cure for KOS

The point is that there should be a knock on effect; You kill a man for as little as his fishing pole or his spare matches, not for sport but because the risk of going to the city is too great.

Zombies as a cure for KOS

You're emulating one of the most popular topics on the forum prior to the alpha release. It's pretty clear that the ideas layed down there are being taken very seriously when it comes to SA develpment. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/20112-the-only-realistic-way-to-prevent-deathmatching-make-dayz-a-living-hell/

    Inside a building

I clipped into a space under some stairs in one of the big apartment blocks. I managed to server hop my way out of it, maybe try that?

While the robbery system is nice it won't work.

I think that this, and many of the other items and tools in DayZ depend on the player base that uses them. Already I've made the decision that when the radio system is applied and the mechanics are worked out that I'm going to become a paramedic, the decision was made when I saw how complex and interesting the medical mechanics will be and how tough it will be to stay healthy without someone on the server who is dedicated to having the right supplies and knowing how to use them. As for combat, I'm willing to play the pacifist, only being armed enough to defend myself from ambush and zombie attack. In short, I'm willing to play the role. And I think that's the best approach to DayZ in general. The only reason to play this game is because of the exciting interactions between players, that could mean murder, betrayal, companionship, spying, unhealthy alliances, solid friendships, mutual interests and all out war. The only thing that separates this from any other deathmatch is the size of the map and the experiences with other survivors. I'm willing to play up to being robbed if only to provoke an exciting interation, in some ways it's more fun than a 30 second shootout.
  10. I think as the selection of wearable loot and character customisation grows, ingame names will be redundant. I think that's really the plan in the long term.

    Suggestion: Explosive vest...

I think we'd all like life to be less cheap in Chernarus; Both for people to think twice about blowing someone away and for someone to feel a genuine loss when they do die. The means to commit suicide while getting an easy kill is too easy to exploit/ troll with and lowers the value of your character and their survival experience. In much the same way it does IRL. You're a survivor, not a terrorist.

    How to cure sickness?

With the increased complexity and range of tools to use being a medic in this is going to be amazing! I just hope that doctor's outfits and military medic unforms can be found to identify you.

    Who else miss

Of course but i wouldn't worry. I'm sure that new types of crashes like abandoned ambulances, burnt out APCs and heli crashes will be rolled out in time.

    Never go to green mountain.

I'm sure that the devs will capitalise on the mythology surrounding that particular location at some point.

    DayZ in North America

I think that we have enough zombie games,movies,books,audio-dramas, TV series and matinee operettas set in the US. I wrote something about this A while back

    Non-Lethal Options for Disabling Players

I thought that the blunt force trauma melee weapons were mostly non lethal, hence why they are so ineffective on infected.
  17. Well, as the OP says the absence of can openers is a bit silly but I like the idea of mundane loot becoming sought after in the zombie apocalypse. It adds to the sense of desperation. Killing a guy because he had a nice scope on his rifle is mundane, killing a guy for his camping stove, fishing pole or antibacterial spray can turn DayZ from glorified deathmatch to a real survival simulator IMO.

    Vehicles

I'm on board with the thread on helis, both in the sense of making them endgame and making them require a high level of skill to pilot well. With the standalone we could use the new tracking of items system to make fixing a whirlybird up incredibly difficult without whole server cooperation. Making parts not a question of a rotor assembly but the rotor assembly: An item that requires a vehicle to move large distances (a player being otherwise overloaded if they try to haul it across the map) to deter server hopping hoarders. The server can always garantee that such an item is instanced somewhere on the map but would require lots of intersquad collaboration, bartering and negotiation (along with lots of intersquad infiltration, robbery and double crossing) to get all of the required parts in one place. It would be intersting to see what time consuming and manpower intensive projects like this could do to redraw alliances and change player dynamics on a server. I'm imagining that a bambi, down on his luck could come across a vital heli part knowing that a squad was itching to find it, he could literally name his price for the details of it's location. Two previously warring squads could forge an uneasy alliance when they realised that together they had the parts they needed only to rob one another once it is airworthy.

    Suggestion: Write on bloodbags?

Good idea. It would be good to apply to many items (but not all: obviously you can't write in ballpoint on a steel rifle or on to the skin of rotten fruit) by adding the text to where you check the condition of the item in the inventory. Easy to miss but attentive players learn to check the details on items.
  20. Now loss of peripheral vision sounds interesting! Do you think it could be applied gradually prior to the grey out effect? It would be interesting to see something reflect your character's lack of attentiveness due to exhaustion, hunger, injury or pain before the real effects of blood loss kick in?
  21. The consensus on perks, microskills and so on has been a general "No" on this forum but I'm beginning to change my tune. I think that a subtle increase in endurance, immunity to disease, increased leathality with melee weapons, resistance to attack from infected and stamina applied to work entirely "under the hood" is the way to go. This should be perceptible enough to reflect the character's ability to survive and to make the death of the character a risk but not so much as to seem artificial or to needlessly award a good player by making the game far too easy. I think the dev team could make a really good go of character progression beyuond loot at this stage with the new systems built into SA.

Servers not showing and waiting for host

Servers are overloaded. Exactly the same story when the mod became super popular. It's not a bug, it's the "alpha build being a success" party and your'e not invited.
  23. Hungry? Yes. Unconscious? NO. If you think this is realistic you ought to consult your family physician.

    TEXT SYSTEM V.S. ICON SYSTEM

I haven't verified this but as long as it isn't bugged this might provide some answers: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154423-how-not-to-pass-out/
  25. I've come across epi pens today.
