    Is losing everything... Enough?

Sounds to me like, since the only solution to the issue is increasing the rarity of the "good" items, the game is overall lacking content for you. I suggest, if you want to be able to have a character that needs A TON of progression to achieve end game, you play MMORPGs / RPGs (Guild Wars 2 looks good).

    1.7.2.3 Waiting for host - 94876

Using 94945 and 1.7.2.3, and doing many people's "guides" I'm still stuck on the "Wait for host" screen. Hopefully this is resolved soon, I'm bored to tears.

I miss being able to play

Seriously it's now impossible to play this game for me, I unfortunately didn't take notice of the forums when I went to update the game through Six Updater + Launcher + 94945 beta patch when I saw it. Since then I was able to play on ONE server that was 1.7.2.3 from Steam, and TWO other servers from Six Launcher. I grew angry because i had such limited access, so I uninstalled both Arma 2 + Arma 2: OA, then I went ahead and reinstalled both games, ran the 94945 beta patch, and ran both six launcher and six updater. After this I went back into steam to find, for some reason, my Arma 2 version is now only 1.60.87580, and finding playable servers is now literally impossible. Also, while I'm able to easily find the beta folder in the directory, I'm unfortunately unable to find it under the "Expansions" section of the Main Menu. While I understand that this mod is free, I personally purchased this game solely because of this mod, I paid $30 (just like everyone else, I assume) just so I can play this mod. I've put about 60 hours into it so far and I'd love to keep playing, so I'm pretty much freaking out. I hope this resolves soon.

I miss being able to play

First you start out your post via a rude analytical comment. Next you do the "learn to" thing which only immature and childish trolls seem to do. Finally you end with declaring I expected the mod to do something for me, if it all of a sudden broke down, I'd still be somewhat satisfied as it took 60 hours of my time, much more than most games I've been playing. Please develop a little bit of maturity. EDIT: Also thought I'd say, I did everything that link told me to do, however, I'm only able to access outdated servers that no one is playing on.

I'm kinda like Jesus, but not in a sacriligious way

Only if you record it and put it on Youtube!

    Will this run dayz?

Your integrated graphics card is a HUGE bottleneck, and it'll force you to play on the lowest of settings to even hope to get decent performance. I have the I5-2310 2.9ghz Sandy Bridge CPU, so just ever so slightly worse than yours, and it runs the game fine. I even have the same RAM, the only difference is I have an awesome graphics card: The Sapphire 7850 OC Edition. If you had this card on your system, you'd play the game at high settings.

    Requirements

Assuming you haven't purchased either the DLC or the game yet, purchasing Arma 2: Combined Operations is the best option. Hopefully your computer is good enough to handle the game :).

Buying a new computer - Post your specs!

I5-2310 2.9 Ghz Sandy Bridge Quad Core 8GB DDR3 1333 Mhz Sapphire 7850 OC Edition 1TB 7200 RPM Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit ViewSonic 22" 1920x1080P Monitor Corsair Gaming Series 700 Watt Cooler Master Storm Enforcer Case (comes with a 120mm + 200mm fan) Extra Cooler Master 120mm fan H60 CPU Liquid Cooler I purchased the ASUS CM6730 computer and the ViewSonic 22" 1920x1080P Monitor 7 months ago for $500. Last month I bought the Sapphire 7850 OC Edition card to go with it and the CPU liquid cooler + case + case fan. I've been able to play EVERY game I've come across on max settings, except for this game. Battlefield 3 runs at 30+ FPS at ultra settings (antialiasing all of the way up), and when I overclock my graphics card even further, it runs at a more steady 40+ FPS at ultra settings (antialiasing all of the way up). Arma 2 Dayz Mod, however, I find myself having issues. On very high settings I found my frame rate fluctuate A LOT, literally at 50+ in areas with not much activity, and as low as 20 FPS in really intense areas. I keep it now on High settings and it's a steady 35+ FPS. I definitely suggest the bulk of my build, it works phenomenally and the parts aren't too expensive, the only things I suggest you change are the CPU, get a I5-2500k so you can overclock it, get a motherboard that supports overclocking, get an SSD for the main/boot drive, and use the 1TB for extra storage but make sure it's at least 7200 RPM. Lastly, extra Mhz on the ram can't hurt, 1600 Mhz or better.

How to add realism to PVP without nerfing it

While I personally prefer equality, I can't help but support this idea. This is something I didn't think about AT ALL, and I'm usually an out of the box "what-if" kind of guy. My only fear is that the backgrounds (classes) might not be very balanced. I'd imagine the ex-military/police guy would be the most popular.

    Mountain Dew??

To be honest, I found three or so cans of it today :O. Is it really a traded / sought-after item?
  11. From my understanding you... Helped someone escape zombies -> Met up with his friend -> His friend nearly killed you -> You killed the friend -> The dude you helped originally killed you after hearing out his friend. Don't blame the guy you helped, blame his friend. He modified the real story to make himself seem like the victim and get him all over your ass. Moral of the story is not to give up on humanity, but to be more cautious. Just because one guy seems nice, doesn't mean his friend is too. Especially if he's a bandit.

    Them zeds sniffin' me out!

    1) As thisisbleep advised, do what ever you must to stay crouched and go even slower by holding shift (or double tabbing shift). 2) Try using more silenced weaponry. 3) When being chased, if you're near a dock or a building with multiple entrances, run to there, the zombies get all stupid in these places. 4) Keep in mind that zombies attack players closest to them, if you see another player, don't be afraid to sacrifice them, if you know what I mean. 5) Shadows lower your visibility (just wanted to make it add up to 5).

    NO LOOT?

Hehehe, you said diapers. In all seriousness, do you actually see it disappear? Or are you just unable to find loot? Maybe try switching servers.

    I..I..I killed a man..

Interesting, it didn't happen to be the friend that you killed did it?

Will this 'gaming laptop' run DayZ?

I'm comfortably playing on High settings, I've tried Very High and my frame rate is just too crazy there, with Quality Preference: High at 1920x1080 I have a steady 40+ FPS, sometimes getting into the 30's when things are getting intense (explosions, looking at vast quantities of land, etc). Here's my desktop's build: I5-2310 2.9ghz quad core Sapphire 7850 OC Edition - I can further OC it to 1000/1350, but I haven't done this for this game, I only do this for Battlefield 3 + when I FRAPS games. 8GB DDR3 1333 Mhz RAM 1TB 7200 RPM Corsair GS 700 Watt Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit Viewsonic 22" 1920x1080P There's other things too like I use the Cooler Master Storm Enforcer case, an extra 120mm fan, a H60 Liquid Cooler for CPU, Razer Deathadder mouse, etc.

Your graphics card is one of the worst GTX 600 cards on the market, you'll probably have to play on low settings.

    Best DayZ map

If you're going to use a map I suggest dayzmap.info Just type that into the URL I suggest it because: 1) No advertisements 2) You can type in the search bar in the top left what item you want and it'll locate the potential spawns 3) I'm used to it now

    It's hard as F***!

You said you're at the airfield near a city... I assume you mean you're at the Air strip near Balota, which is also near Cherno. In my experiences, Cherno and the Air Strip you're probably at are the best places to go when you first spawn. The Air Strip usually has at least one gun in the area, there's a lot of places to loot there, the first time I went there I followed someone up a ladder and they picked up an AK right in front of me and killed me, when I came back he was gone and the items respawned and I found a double barrel shotgun, some type of sub machine gun, an AKS 74U, and a m1911 Pistol, they all had ammo on them too :D. Once you've found some weapons, make a run to Cherno, there's a supermarket and a hospital there worth looting. Once you've achieved some supplies, head out into the woods and begin your journey! Items recommended before heading out to the woods: Hatchet Skinning / Hunting knife At least two water bottles / canteens Matchbook A decent gun with ammo (if it's automatic, set it to semi-auto) Several Morphine Injectors Several Bandages Several Painkillers A couple of Anti biotics Blood bags if you have friends Some food Big enough back pack to carry all of this stuff PROTIP: Unless your gun is silenced, use your hatchet to kill enemies quietly.

    Got NVGs, now what?!

There's a market and two hospitals at Cherno, take advantage of them, on a low pop server.

FPS Drop Spikes in certain situations

The culprit is your graphics card, the on-board Intel HD Graphics Family can just barely play today's games, and Arma 2 is one of the most demanding games out there right now! Also it doesn't help that your CPU is a dual core and not a quad core.
  21. Last night a buddy and I were in Elektro having a good time when another friend grew impatient and insisted on us meeting him at Cherno. Hatchets in our hands, we took off for what seemed like a really quick journey, but we were dead wrong with this assumption. Not even a minute after we left Elektro, we were ambushed by several zombies. Our hatchets were more than enough to fend them off, but they didn't go down without a little pay back, breaking our bones. Unfortunately, we lacked morphine injectors so we were forced to crawl. And crawl we did... crawled until we became bored to tears, crawled until we started considering suicide, crawled until our finger holding the W button throbbed. It was a 50 minute crawl, we finally made it to a hospital and found enough morphine injectors to fix ourselves up and to use in the future in case of more broken bones. Ready to set off from Cherno with our insanely impatient friend to do lord knows what else, we faced a group of no-good-bandits in a white truck shooting at us. Both of my friends pushed daisies and I managed to escape. TL;DR 1) Morphine Injectors are super important, don't travel without one. 2) It takes 50 minutes to crawl from Elektro to Cherno. 3) As soon as you hear the horn of death, might as well disconnect. 4) Don't accidentally throw Road Flares as you're headed towards a populated city.

Crawled all of the way from Elektro to Cherno

:O I didn't even know you could climb a ladder when the broken bone icon is showing, learning something new everyday! I've yet to see a deer stand =/.

Crawled all of the way from Elektro to Cherno

Us being so new to this game, we didn't know how the loot respawn system worked.

Crawled all of the way from Elektro to Cherno

Hehehe as I was typing the TL;DR, I knew this one would nit me in the butt. Allow for me to clarify I "escaped" which by that I meant ran and head for the hills. I'm just 'suggesting' a DC if you think you hear crazy no-good-bandits in a truck. We already cleaned it out before hand, other than server hopping for loot we had no choice.

Crawled all of the way from Elektro to Cherno

All three of us just started two days ago, we had some items that were hard (at least for us) to come by, like a matchbook, some water bottles, an ALICE bag, and a few other useful survival tools.
