About splat!

    On the Coast
  1. I haven't tried it but while you may not be able to have the M107 equipped along with a backpack, you might be able to stick the M107 in a backpack if it simply takes 10 slots like most primaries (you could make it 20 and it'd still work). Sure it'd be a pain to get out to use but depending on how it's handled it might be possible. Also I read less than a quarter of your post.
  2. Meh. Your own fault for bringing all that shit to one of the hottest spots in the North. There are tents for a reason.

    Ultimate Loot

Uhhh... a tent. And i've since died so in desperate need of another. :( Also you should know that the M136 is loaded with AT warheads that have next to no splash. It's really only for vehicles.
  4. Server load is an issue but personally I think the day/night cycle's are fine. If it's dark, as in real dark before the moon's out and even maxed gamma won't let you see your feet, you need to find yourself a chemlight. After that you can bugger off to the woods and do whatever. I've raided many an inland village just sneaking around with a chemlight. I actually prefer the night as I'm harder to spot, both by zombies and by snipers.

    Should we scrap bandit models?

Yes get rid of them. With Arma 3 supporting swappable clothes it'll be pointless so you might as well get used to not being able to tell if someones a bandit from the clothes now. I would like to keep the humanity score though. Maybe use it to give survivors and bandits different side missions.

    Weapon Durability

Nah. As mentioned in real life most weapons last a pretty long time with semi-decent care. If you make kits permanent it's just a pain in the backside, just a bunch of mouse clicks you need to remember. If you make them one time use it's just some crap to hoard. Though I guess you could make cleaning kits a rare item so people are inclined to only use them on their favourite guns. Make snipers less reliable, most lower tier weapons more reliable and it could work. However with the added burden of adding such functionality I don't think it's worth it. If you made military weapons much harder to get you could still achieve a realistic blend of weaponry throughout the game. And remember you lose your inventory if you die.

Move DayZ to Take on Helicopter:Rearmed

Just wait for Arma 3. It's supposedly borrowed a lot from the Take On flight model which should be what you're looking for.

    Pirate radio + Side missions

Oh? I was somehow under the impression side missions were already in the pipeline. :-/ There's mention of the word in the changelogs. :dodgy:
  9. There was a radio someone found in another thread but nobody really knew much about it. Here's an idea. The basic premise is to use the radio to announce side missions. It could be implemented such that every hour, everyone with a radio in their inventory gets a pirate radio broadcast announcing the creation of a server wide mission, or that one already exists. This needn't actually be registered as a mission with the players, it could just announce a grid location where something has happened. That way anybody who stumbles upon it can reap the goodies. Furthermore it may be possible to only announce side missions to those with positive humanity. Or on the flipside, special side missions only those with negative humanity will hear about. You could even make them clash. Think different radio stations or more generally different missions for survivors and bandits. Another more general idea; parts that can only be acquired via missions. I'm only really talking about the best parts for the best vehicles. Think military. Combined with the previous point you could keep the best side missions for the survivors with the bandits only ever getting second best. Those survivors need some encouragement. However I guess the problem with that is the bandits can still have someone on the inside to crash the party. For that, maybe it'd be better to restrict and register missions after all. With that individual survivors can get a nice piece to combine with others. I guess you can still kill them but it'd be harder to stalk them. So all up there's actually four suggestions: use the radio to announce side missions different missions for survivors and bandits parts that can only be acquired via missions best side missions for the survivors and a lingering question of whether to register side missions or not (might be dictated by the power of the modding tools actually).
