I'm not talking about loot inside a whole town disappearing because a player spawns there. I'm talking more about loot much closer to a player - i.e. inside the same building. For instance, if a player spawns inside the NW airfield barracks (one of the main server hopper spots) then all loot inside the NW airfield barracks should vanish and not regenerate for 10-15mins. this has potential for griefing -
i just found one with 2 x PP-19 SD and 4 mags :D

I like the new zombie behavior but i also think they respawn too fast. I was in the firestation on the NW airfield and got attacked by one. Killed them and the whole airfield crew seemed to fall in love with me. They didnt stop coming. They seemed to respawn faster then one can kill them. -
EVE is a great game, been playing it for 5 years but DayZ is way superior for me because you dont need to learn some abstract game mechanics to get into the heat. As soon as you log into Dayz for the first time you know whats up! Thanks Rocket!

ghillie suits are the best counter agianst NVGs :P People will think for 2 seconds if you are being a tree or not. Enough time to kill em and get NVGs :D

* [FIXED] Tent pitching (Who the hell codes tent location checks TWICE before pitching? Oh apparently I do) Doesnt seem to work for me. I tried placing a tent on flat ground in the woods and on a open field. Always getting the error message that the space is not suitable.

I like the new zed spawns. Also the tears on the forums :D Only downside for me is the FPS issue but Rocket seems to be on it already.

Yep same here. My MSI afterburner tells me that my GPU is almost not working. Only 10 - 20 % capacity used. There must be something wrong with the code.

Oh so you always jump into a pit to see if it hurts? You seem to be as smart as you want to be. yeah developing a game is always about jumping into pits and getting hurt! didnt you know? Ok seriously you should go and ask Blizzard how many times they have developed new features in Diablo 3 6,5 Years and killed alot of them in the beta? They came to the conclusion that some of them are not fun. Alot of people have been working on those features for years and still Blizzard kicked them out to make the game better. Game development is not a straight line that you walk from A to B. Its filled with dead ends and wrong ways. But to find the right way, you need to have the complete map of what you can do and what not. Actually i dont think that you understand half of what i typed but well i dont give a damn.

I don't think anyone here at all has mentioned the word "fun". You can act smug with your straw man there' date=' but it's simply not true. No one here wants the game to be more fun - they want it to be more realistic (or as someone said; "not goofy"). No one is talking about whether it's fun or not to go into town to collect wood or to have to use a hatchet to cut down a tree to make wood (seriously, wtf? Has anyone ever cut down a tree to make a giant bonfire just to cook some meat?). Everyone is simply saying that it's really immersion breaking, because that's just not at all how real life works. I know that some people whine about everything and some people feel entitled or whatever, but I haven't seen people in this thread do that. I've got to assume that people are allowed to give constructive criticism of the mod, otherwise there wouldn't be a forum. [/quote'] ehm actually im perfectly fine with contructive critisism but some people in this thread just dont seem to get what "in development" means. It means that this feature will be iterated alot of times prolly once in a week. all this talk about this feature being silly or killing someones playstyles just points out that this people dont have the slightest clue how development works. you dont have a perfect feature from the start, you need to iterate alot to find the right way and thats what rocket is doing here. this man is sparing all his time to make this and some people just dont wanna understand, that he also has a life which needs food and water. is it so hard to sit back and wait how things play out or maybe trie to adapt to the system and tell rocket what exploits it might come up with? He already stated that this feature is not finished nor is the wood cellection process and you guys are still making raging posts about it. I DONT GET IT. But people expect a bit of reason from a developer that develops a game they spend their free time in who also likes to shine himself in the light of BESTEST MOD 2012 EVAAAA in the PC Gamer. That a system that makes you go to villages to collect wood not to die by moving 200 meters while wearing perfectly normal clothes and having it take you an hour of your real life to increase it again will not be fun? Not freaking rocket science. I rather play a Silent Hunter uber realism mod and plot everything myself. Takes hours but is actually fun. Looking at my screen watching some pixels burn is not fun. so why dont you go play silent hunter then? You know point of testing is not directly to have fun but to find out what makes fun. that includes trying out things that might not be fun but you need to test them to find out. oh god i cant believe that i need to explain this.

Oh rocket youre a genius. I love the new temp feature. Major cities just need more burning barrels, chenarus has some but elektro dont seem to have. This could actually improve social play between people because they wanna stick around a fire in the night. Capture the barrel! It might need some tweaking in loot spawns too but the idea behind it is fantstic :D And pls dont listen to the whiners, they will just move on to the next game because they cant adapt. as for the people raging: you still dont seem to get that this is an experiment? -
This thread is simply a whinethread from some long term arma 2 player who thinks his opinion is more worth then others. Im also a long term Arma2 player and i think DayZ is the best thing that happened to arma 2 since it got released. New players, pls dont listen to this idiot. He prolly is just jelly because his own mod didnt get any attention.

@OP: If you dont take any risk in this game you wont get any fun out of it. The goal is not to gain X or Y gear and keep it. It is expected to get used in killing zombies or people. If you dont wanna take anymore risks ,then DayZ is prolly the wrong game for you. The fun in this game is taking risks and winning/loosing. the first days i played this mod, i had the same view as you. But then some bandits crashed our camp with a jeep, gunned everyone down and stole everything. My group decided its not worth trying to farm and gather loot. It just gets lost anyway. Now were just running around and experiencing players driven stories. Its more fun then ever. Just get rid of your standard playstyle and this mod will enrichen your gamerlife.
