I see a lot of posts about people looking forward to all these things that are being added into the standalone such as clothing, a much better engine (which is definitely something to get excited about), and an all around improvement. There's one thing however, that people are missing about the standalone. The entire Arma 2 Utes island is going to be off the coast of Chernarus. Can you just imagine what you can do with a secluded island? One that can only be accessed by helicopter, boat, or a large amount of patience swimming? If people were impressed with hero bases, bandit bases, or any bases of the sort, imagine what you can make out of an entire island that is 5120 x 5120 meters. One that that I'm looking forward to the most is Utes, and that's very, very certain. Also attached the Utes map for people who aren't familiar with Arma 2.

It's really a matter of who gets there first. I personally haven't played DayZ Utes yet, but I've heard some bad things about it. But when you have it off the coast of a 255 km land mass, I think it might be different.

Oh ok. I think I see what you're getting at now. It would be a cool feature to have your markers clientside, rather than the whole server seeing it. That would be very interesting, and I would love to have that in the game. As an apology, take my beans.

That's true, but it's not really meant to be shoot on sight. I'll admit it, sometimes I'm shoot on site, especially in the north. But what I hate is in places such as Cherno and Elektro, bandits just shoot newspawns on sight. It just pisses me off.

Considering that the standalone may have 150 players per server, I think they will definitely make the map larger. I mean they're even putting the entire island of Utes in the god damn map.

I remember reading somewhere that rocket said something about bandit skins. I think he said that without bandit skins, no one would trust absolutely anyone, and that's not what he's going for.

People like you really don't get the concept of DayZ. As stated tens of times before in this thread, please for the love of god and allah and ra and lakshmi, do not get the standalone.

Most people forget that Utes will also be off the coast of Chernarus. A completely different island, that's still massive. Imagine the possibilities with an island that you can only get to with a lot of patience with swimming, a boat, or a chopper. I think Utes is a feature that a lot of people aren't very stoked for, and really should be.

Although they don't get a lot of attention anymore, they're still out there. You don't even need to go through DayZ Commander, you can just launch Arma 2 and filter with the words "DayZ - US" (with the spaces) for example, and tons of servers will pop up, regardless of the country.

A 32 minute long video by gamespot interviewing Dean on all things DayZ Standalone, along with some nice gameplay footage to go along with it. Very informational, and it'll answer a lot of questions.

Getting a gaming computer sometime in the fall, and I've found a seemingly great computer for the price that it's at, as well as plenty of space for removing and adding improvements to the computer. Keep in mind that this rig is $719.99. AMD FX-Series FX-6100(3.3GHz) 8GB DDR3 2TB HDD+120GB SSD HDD Capacity AMD Radeon HD 7770 1GB What really gets me is the SSD, which is surprising to me for a computer with a price this considerably low. Most computers in the $800s either have the same or worse graphics card, not nearly enough HDD space, and a weaker processor. What do you think? Can it run DayZ?

There's plenty of space inside for upgrades, and I don't really plan on recording. I'm used to a horrible FPS, so what you consider bad FPS I'll probably consider it a godsend.
