Just a few minutes ago, I was in a village. My three favorite buildings the long house, the red-roofed barn, and the brown longhouse were all sitting right next to each other by a small water source. I was looting the barn furiously because I had 2 or 3 zombies chasing me, and I was not armed. Luckily I had found a hatchet and started whacking away, and I lost 4,000 blood somehow. I began to search the other half of the barn, and to my great surprise, I had found a Lee Enfield, only to have no mags at all in it. So I kill the last zombie that was chasing me, and I began to make my way further into the village, and I searching for about 10 minutes, and I finally found some mags for it, dropping some of my food (silly, right?). I had made my way back to the barn only to attract more zombies on the way. As I was reloading the mag, a zombie came up and broke my legs. Now I have no morphine, a half empty Lee Enfield mag, and I'm stuck in a barn for now.

Funny thing is, when I logged back on in that life, my legs were no longer broken. However, I heard gunshots nearby, so I quickly leaped into the barn next to me in search of perhaps a better gun than the lee. I find a dead body, but think nothing of it because I had heard gunshots that sounded like 4 or 5 people had fired. I'm looting the top of the left side of the barn, only to turn around and get shot in the head by a bandit with a makarov. The other four people that I heard shoot were all laying dead on the other side of the barn, which I didn't think to check. But it's all good, now in this new life I've got a Winchester 1886, two canteens of water filled up, some coke, sardines, baked beans, some empty tin cans for my future raids on little towns, smoke grenades, etc. I think I'll stay in the forest for a while. :)

I think it's perfectly justified. Idiots shouldn't be spamming barbwire fences in every building that could have some good possible loot just to screw with people. If they want to screw with people, they should just kill them.

I observe before I think about killing someone. I give everyone a chance. These self-proclaimed "hardcore players" are just bandits with good snipers. Take those snipers away and I'll bet they'll be the ones complaining.

Nice. I usually don't get as lucky when I travel into Elektro. I usually run into a horde of zombies, or I make myself a target to snipers. Good job getting in and out of there without much trouble though.

We should just star the "sniper survival thread" here. No need to waste more room. I'd say my first tip is that a train of zombies just might give away your position.

[/quote'] I didn't even get killed by a sniper. Some guy sitting around at the top of the fire station in Elektro. I knew it was a hotspot for bandits and such, but greed takes over, and that's when you become incompetent and naive.

Sounds like a set-up. I'll be surprised if it doesn't end up in a hail of gunfire.

I got the game... Monday I think. I've been slowly learning NOT to go onto the higher levels in Cherno or in Elektro. My lives have been getting longer and longer by not being a moron and risking my life for what is most likely a Makarov mag.

Blocking doors with barb wire is almost as annoying as player-killing newly spawned survivors.

Bincos and ragefinders especially are pretty rare. A sniper rifle isn't as rare as binocs, but still. It's better than nothing.

I have a Toshiba laptop (which has an i3 processor). I've got 4GBs of RAM and 1696 MBs of memory left. I think you'll be fine.

Sniper rifles can be used for more than shooting survivor's brains out. Surveying and recon can benefit a group. And for a bandit group, it helps to have a guy watching the hills for lone survivors.

But you have to remember, this is post-soviet russia. Might not have some of the advancements that we have.

Only killed 1. But I intend to kill more, once I have the right gear.

Because most server admins are not on 24/7. Find a different server

You should look in the news section of DayZ every once in a while. It explains why servers aren't working. Earlier today they were doing maintenance, because you know, this mod is in Alpha.

When I kill someone... I usually do somewhere off in the mountains, where nothing can hear it. I never shoot on sight, I befriend and kill.

I spawned without a gun and I looted Elektro successfully. It's not tremendously hard to survive without a gun, just be careful.
