    Why won't you fix the mouse?

    These are my current mouse settings; it makes the mouse move quickly and accurately. You should try them out and see if they work for you. I DO wish I could disable mouse acceleration, though.

  8. Yes, more guns, vehicles, or places to go would be nice, but the development team should really focus on strengthening the core element of the game before adding in all the other fun add-ons. There should be more types of tools, food, drinks, gear, backpacks, medical gear, and animals for hunting. Am I offering specifics or demanding that they add these or I won't be satisfied? No. My suggestion is that the devs really refine the staying alive part of the game to where they feel completely satisfied with it. This includes fixing the zombies to move in hordes/organically, something they've always strive to complete. Because this IS a zombie apocalypse simulator, the zombies should be the main focus. They should be a massive threat and large numbers of them should be avoided instead of run away from when running through the middle of town. Once they've achieved that, they can start adding more maps, vehicles, guns, loot spawns. This is also directly related to the hundreds of posts saying "X gun NEEDS to be in the game". If they only keep the M4, Mosin Nagant, and two pistols, and just add multiple attachments for the guns, I'd be perfectly fine with that. The gun wouldn't be your goal, the goal would be finding that one piece of the gun that makes it become exactly what you're going to use it for. The game would come down to the question of what you will be using the gun for, when given the choice between the two, and hoping you picked the right one. Less guns, more household items.

    Poll: Movement

    Look down at your feet the next time you walk up or down some stairs in DayZ. Notice how your guy takes 4-5 steps at a time. He moves ridiculously fast when going down stairs. As for hills, I should be able to run up hills, but it should consume energy faster.

    What is the reason for having half of a map? There's no reason for someone in real life to create a map of exactly half of a continent, so why is it in the game? I could understand the limitations on a map were it ripped, but the one I found is just "Map of N Chernarus" with a distinct cutoff through the middle of Chernarus. The map of only a city makes sense, because many cities have a map of the city all the way to the city limits. All these half/quarter pieces of a map are nonsensical; it should just be one map. However, I would be in favor of again, a single map with everything on it, but it can be found ripped in many places, or you could even just get a chunk of the map. Finding a complete map would be uncommon, but not extremely rare due to maps already being pretty difficult to find.

  13. Was never an issue before the update, and now it is. All the time. Way, way more often than before. This is all on servers of <10 ping, so it isn't the server, and it hasn't been an issue before so it isn't my internet. Whatever they changed, perhaps another hotfix could be applied to reverse the rubberbanding fix of the previous update. It occurs at random, whether or not I'm near a city or in the forest or on the coast. It makes walking across the street a pain in the ass due to my inevitable warping back to where I was thirty seconds ago.

    No this DOES need to become an extreme fishing fest. As for random boats with loot, there is a crashed cargo ship north of Berezino with all kinds of goodies on it. Case in point, it's glitchy as fuck and I've randomly died from being warped to twenty feet to the left of where I was standing on the deck, and falling to my death like a cartoon character, or from the game saying "Fuck you" and throwing the "You are dead" screen in my face when nothing besides the floor could have caused my death. Off shore loot spots sound good, but they're glitchy so maybe it isn't the best idea to implement it YET. There are plenty of islands to the south off the map that could have a large military ship near it, and would be filled with all kinds of gear available only to those with a boat and willing to travel into uncharted territory to get it.

    Zombies should have MUCH more HP than humans

    Zombies are rotting corpses that are barely able to continue to function due to their decaying muscles. Assuming the "virus" is a parasitic one that controls their brain, damaging the brain should result in an instant kill due to the loss of control from the lack of a brain. They still feel pain from getting shot/dismembered, but they don't react to it until they bleed out/can't move. This is all just going off of what all the zombie lore that we've been provided. Zombies aren't real, we've just created a realistic way for them to be possible. They should always be easier to kill than a human. The current problem is that there aren't enough of them around. More zombies.
  16. I'm all for hidden skill trees, that gradually advance through repeated use of an action. (Better accuracy after using guns for a while, faster/longer running, greater melee hit damage) Also, run more and eat less? NO PROBLEM! (There's no food to eat anyway...)

    I ran around on an empty stomach for over four hours today, running through the entirety of Elektro, to Kamyshovo, Solnicnniy, and Nizhnoye, before finally passing out and dying on my way to Berezino. I checked every single house in every single city. Nothing. Four hours of consistent searching in every possible point across four cities yielded no food. The only thing I found, which I don't count as food, were three rotten fruits. I ate them out of desperation. I even came across a group of FIVE other people all in search of food. We all grouped up and passed by three other people along the way. Pic proof. They all died of starvation shortly before the server crashed. I loaded up another server then went another hour before dying myself. I even blasted some person who looked like they had food on them, only to find they had no food. My body is now lying on a stairwell I was trying to get to the top of to throw myself off of. Point: Please for the love of god spawn more food, or have food respawn more frequently than other items. I know the game is supposed to be punishing, but holy shit at least give me a chance (I even had two canopeners)

    The standalone may have switched things around, but a good rule of thumb in the DayZ mod version was to not go inland unless you have a backpack. I was hoping to find either food or a backpack in Berezino (preferably food)
  20. Stop sprinting everywhere. Because the standalone is taking a more realistic approach to survival (besides the indeterminable timer for unconsciousness, when in real life it happens for only a few minutes; yes, I am writing this while waiting for my character to come out of his coma), you can't (in real life) run for miles and miles and not at least feel thirsty or lightheaded. Walk around more. Explore, take in the solitude and fear from the threat of death constantly looming over you and your stuff. Yes, the game takes on a slower pace, but you'll live longer. Only jog for long-distance travels, and sprint only in emergencies. If you guy is tired, stop walking for a few seconds, catch your breath, then keep going. If you're wondering why I'm unconscious, someone made some godawful joke (Hey your name is Bambi because I killed your mother and now I'm going to kill you) and shot me after I had a fistfight with a zombie, so my response was to respawn at Elektro where I died, then go around and beat the shit out of him and his friends with my bare fists. I punched three random people to death, then found a shovel, and found my murderer and brained him while he was healing from some bleeding. I went after his friends, stabbed one with a screwdriver, then while I was having a brawl with someone else in an intersection, someone shot them and I passed out unconscious. They took my backpack and I am now lying in the middle of the street waiting. I assume I passed out from blood loss, hunger, thirst, and exhaustion all at the same time. At least I bandaged myself and wasn't bleeding right before I passed out UNCONSCIOUS CAM 1: Group ran by, zombies murdered one of them. Now I have a face-to-concrete friend.     Alpha alpha alpha alpha alpha alpha

    As some of you may know, the standalone DayZ went up for sale on Steam today. As an alpha product. Why call the $30 game (that can now be called a game, not a mod anymore) an alpha, if the mod still hasn't left alpha, more than a year after its release? At least say the mod is in beta, even if we have the same amount of progression we are currently having now. Before anyone uses Minecraft as an example for a continuous alpha, Minecraft became a full release two years ago; they just constantly add to it.

    OMFG TANKS

    so as i was playing dayz, i'm strolling through the wilderness, when suddenly....A TANK. i shit myself so hard that i thing i broke my "Z" key. i watched it as it knocked down some trees and kept rolling by. it smashed a building, then blew up someone, then kept rolling. turned its turret in my direction, and i'm pretty sure i dodged a tank shell when i panic-quit. don't know what server it was on, too panicked to care. how the hell have hacks reached this level!?

    Poll: DayZ or The War Z?

    choose. how you choose is totally up to you. however, it's clear that some people have no imagination whatsoever, and can't imagine things in the future. so here's some pros and cons of both. DAYZ: pros: 1. it's playable right now 2. we already know the controls and gameplay 3. we already very familiar with the map and the weapons available 4. free nightvision on every game. (brightness/gamma/HDR) 5. we know what to look for in zombies and players (we can identify both and how they work) cons: 1. bugs that may or may not be fixed 2. the game may never leave alpha/beta (maybe) 3. kenyan zombies with teleportation technology 4. it's a mod vs standalone (arma 2's bugs are carried over into dayz) THE WAR Z: (yes, we can assume these from the screenshots) pros: 1. the game is standalone, so there will be fewer bugs that come with the mod's basegame already 2. the zombies are supposed to be in the game, unlike dayz's impromptu zombies 3. new places to explore, new weapons and vehicles 4. more player interactions besides shooting/alliance then shooting 5. possibly better graphics (maybe) cons: 1. the map is unfamiliar, as could be the controls (unless they rip off arma 2's controls) 2. the zombies could be buffed (better/harder to avoid than the current dayz ones) 3. it's a ripoff of dayz (yes it was made first, but in everyone's eyes, since it was announced second, it seems like a ripoff. whether or not you consider this con when choosing is completely up to you) 4. overall gameplay could be far more difficult (less food, less ammo, more zombies, whatever other complaints you have) so there you go, unimaginative people. now choose. i will stay with dayz. why? because i'm a cheap bastard, and $20 for the admission price for dayz was already pushing it. yeah, i'm poor. so what, wanna fight about it? and besides, since the war z is a standalone game, it is FOR SURE going to be paid for. probably $60 if they're assholes.
