    Weapons

    Fewer guns. More household weapons.
  2. i believe the rabbits are already zombies because they always growl at me when I run by them
  3. omgwtfbbq (DayZ)

    Alt Tab Death

That is the point. I don't speak Russian either but I look at the signs to know where I am
  4. Everyone acknowledges that it exists but they have all been skirting around the actual punishment. What is it?
  5. omgwtfbbq (DayZ)

    Alt Tab Death

The point of DayZ is being thrown in an unknown Russian country and being told to survive at whatever cost. Getting lost and reading the signs along the road is part of the game. Using an online map while playing is cheating.
  6. Yeah this happens a lot; which is why I never trust people with their own guns :/ (people with melee weapons are fine so long as they don't come near me)

What Is The Current Penalty For Switching Servers Too Often?

Is the delay a timer that increases on each server change, or is it some bullshit like the mod's character wipe? Also, about the logout timer: What if I go into a house, and log out, and while I'm at my desktop screen, a zombie back in the game phases through the wall and slaughters me when I didn't aggravate it or couldn't have defended against it?
  8. Also, this is by far the most mature comment on this thread. Hands down.
  9. This is what I've been saying the whole time...except whenever I make even the smallest point about this topic I get shunned into oblivion. I completely agree with the OP unless they make some development changes. What proof do we have that this game may never be finished? The mod never even left "alpha". The mod wasn't even close to being finished. Many core elements still unrefined. But no, MORE GUNS AND CLOTHES Same as with the mod, the developers just call it an alpha forever so the playerbase just blanket statements all the bad rep the game receives with the "It's an alpha" bullshit. Three years until full release? Try to keep anyone's attention for that long; they're going to miss the window of popularity.

    Food Turning Bad Once Opened?

Food and other items currently work exactly the same regardless of being ruined or pristine. They haven't implemented downsides of ruined items. (I know this because I was gunned down, and when I looted my stuff, it was all ruined but still functional)

    Food Turning Bad Once Opened?

Didn't know this; learning experience for everyone

Any Good Loot In The Castles?

I've found a canteen, but I couldn't get into the main tower because the entry step was too high for me to step on
  13. No, he was right. Painkillers currently do nothing. Only morphine stops your guy from moaning. Vitamins also don't kill you; I've taken an entire pill bottle and it had no visible change. OP, you probably died from the stair bug, or you were shot and it didn't register the sound of the bullet.

    no more alphas for me

The environmental threat is in the name of the fucking game

Do you suffer from "Pristine Fever"?

I would find this funny if you didn't use hashtags
  16. In the mod, all lives led a fairly similar path: Start on the coast and gear up, maybe passing through the extremely dangerous Cherno or Elektro, then once you're geared up, go north. The reason the NWAF was so dangerous was because it had loot that could not be found anywhere else. Now, the Balota barracks and the NWAF barracks have the exact same loot chances. There's not much of a reason to go all the way north anymore, now is there? People go to Balota, gear up, then hang around the coast. Mod DayZ had some kind of hidden goal in everyone's mind; to be able to survive the long trip to the airfield to hopefully find anything useful and live to tell the tale...It gave people a goal. It provided some direction that many can't find in DayZ (AKA being bored, going to the coast, and killing people). People knew that others would always go there due to it having exclusive items, so there were almost always snipers. It was always a huge risk to go the the airfield; you ran the risk of getting shot and being sent back to the coast, hours away. But if you lived, you got the best items available in the game. Now, I ran through Balota and Chapaevsk and I will never venture near the airfield, and I still have the top tier of equipment available. I don't understand why people go there at all, and I understand even less why snipers still sit and watch it. But hey, I don't go near it anymore so they can stare at zombies in the distance all day if they'd like. The solution to this unintentional removal of an endgame would be to give the NWAF loot that cannot be found anywhere else. Maybe C-130 crash sites? I've heard people suggest it before and I like it. Maybe add one or two to the airfield. Then if people want it, they have to go on the open runway to get it. Alternatively, add a new type of building or change the barracks so items exclusive to that airfield can spawn. Being the biggest airfield in the region, we can assume it was the main one. Assuming this, it could have secret military hardware or at least hardware the other airfields and bases don't have. (Or how about giving the NWAF an airport terminal? Massive building with multiple floors)
  17. That's a whole other conversation in itself...I never see anyone in the random towns not near Novy Sobor where people spawn or near airfields. In the mod, because the north was the place to be, there were always random people running around in the forests, and I often got shot while running by a treeline near an open field. Now I run across open fields with little to no worry because I never get shot as long as I'm not near Novy Sobor/airfields.
  18. For your short story: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/167999-i-read-a-book-to-some-random-guy/
  19. This; even if NWAF no longer has exclusive stuff, we need reasons to leave the coast

    Easter Eggs? Aliens? Mysteries? [Official]

I want to broadcast to everyone on the map or call in an airstrike or something stupid like that if I hook up my radio to Green Mountain
  21. The electric train thing was implying that it would be automated. (which doesn't make sense). Even if it could be fixed, what's the point? You're a big slow target that makes a lot of noise that can either stop or go, and can only travel between two points.

    Easter Eggs? Aliens? Mysteries? [Official]

Radios currently work and can be tuned to different frequencies. They have a range of 1km. You likely found someone else with a radio trying to freak other people out.
  23. Who would be operating the train? If it ran off of electricity, why does only the train have electricity? If players could fix it and drive it, how would they turn it around once it got to the other corner of the map?

    Imposed difficulty

Fun fact: You currently can't get an infection. So get mauled by all the zombies you want, inject yourself with all the heroins, and drink all the swamp water you want, you'll be fine.
  25. That's the problem; it discourages exploring the rest of the map, and it encourages PVP now that guns are fairly easy to get. In the mod, usually only the people who survived the airfield had military-grade assault rifles; everyone else was stuck with pistols or lee enfields or shotguns. Addressing those who question my statement of "endgame", as someone else pointed out, it's not a way to win the game, it's a larger goal that can be achieved if one chooses to try. You didn't have to go to the NWAF, it was something optional. If you were satisfied with having a shotgun or military weapons from deer stands, then it was your choice. "Endgame" is not in reference to completion, but something to strive towards. Even getting there didn't' mean the game was over, you still have to think of new things to do. And for those wondering if I suggested NWAF-exclusive loot because I have trouble finding things to do in-game (and resort to killing people), in the mod DayZ I stayed alive for 7 months on one character without killing anyone (became a medic with a jeep and what not). My character was eventually reset for some reason. In DayZ Standalone, I've been alive for three weeks. So stfu, I can find plenty of ways to entertain myself :D
