My policy is simple. If you have a firearm, I will shoot you before you shoot me. Anything less and I let you walk.

I would really love to see a more in-depth approach to consumable fluids. I think you should be able to regulate the amount of water you drink from your canteen. Have it have some kind of a meter that goes down as you drink from it and enable to the user to stop drinking whenever they want. This will enable you to survive on small amounts of water for several days without having to refill, rather than quaffing the whole lot in one go. This is a more realistic approach to water consumption in a survival situation. This would work on all bottles/canteens you have filled with liquid, but not cans obviously as they are not re-sealable once opened. It would be great also if you could store cans of soda in the canteen. For example a canteen might hold two or three cans of soda. This would help free up precious bag space. Finally it would be great if you could loot water purification tablets, and then be able to fill your canteen at the various ponds and dams around the map. You could drink the water without purification and risk infection and illness, or drop a tablet in the water to purify it. You could also enable some sort of system to boil water over a fire etc. Anyhow, love the game, just my two cents :)

I have found lately that whenever I try to load a game, both through Six Launcher and Arma 2's built in server finder, my connection will randomly drop out for short periods of time. This generally happens while I'm at a loading screen and the dropout causes the loading screen to just set there, "loading' forever. I have to manually kill the Arma2 process before trying again.. The dropouts seem to be for a couple of seconds or less, not enough time for windows to even report the dropout but it kills DayZ. This is not my connection, I have been using it for years and am a solid BF3 and MMO gamer and have never had any of these issues.. Any suggestions on what could be causing this, and how to fix it? Thx

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into my router settings

I read on here somewhere it's about 20 minutes.

The Average amount of time survived
uberwolfe replied to UnansweredIntentions's topic in New Player Discussion
Day 8. Paranoid mess. Average around 1-2 days I'd say.. always killed by doing something stupid. -
I like the idea..

Not really useful to me as I don't specifically play on the same servers (blame small selection of Aussie servers that are perpetually full) I generally don't see the same player twice... and in a pool of 500k+ players...

No. Guns are, and should be, a luxury in this game. They should be hard to find, harder than they are now, and there should be less ammo. I am all for some sort of melee defense at start, but a gun... no way.

10 Forgotten good ideas + some new ones
uberwolfe replied to _Profile_Shame's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hehe, that SkiFree Yeti would be epic.. EPIC. When killed the bastard would contain at least 12 raw meats, several items from players it has previously swallowed, and a nice warm fur coat to keep the chills out on those cold cold Russian nights.. :D I can just imagine barreling down a mountain trying to outrun him, haha -
I suggested a similar idea ages ago... http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/22252-consumable-fluids-etc/

Depending on server settings (I think) if you find the compass, as well as the current in-game map - It shows your position and heading on the map. I think this is fine and all that is needed - gives the compass the value it deserves... I like being able to use real-world techniques such as using your watch to find north, really adds to the survival aspect of the game.

Mostly fine with this update, minus a few weird occurrences: If I logout with my sidearm drawn, when I log back in it no longer fires, and I can't look down the sights. I have to switch to primary rifle then back to sidearm for it to work... A few of the animals I tried to kill for meat vanished the moment I had shot them.. Otherwise, keep up the great work :)

Works well for me so far...

No thanks.

Survival: The ability to refill water bottles when it rains
uberwolfe replied to L33tmoaf's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Here's a couple of posts I dug out of the most recent entries. The suggestion is covered in one form or another.. http://dayzmod.com/f...-fill-canteens/ http://dayzmod.com/f...7-rain-refills/ http://dayzmod.com/f...ttle-with-rain/ And though not specifically based on rainwater, here's a link to my own post on hydration http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/22252-consumable-fluids-etc/ -
Survival: The ability to refill water bottles when it rains
uberwolfe replied to L33tmoaf's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I appreciate that there's a ton of posts in this suggestion thread but... This has already been suggested at least a dozen times. -
I find, rather disturbingly, that someone has put WAAAYYY too much thought into this.. Like others have said, this adds nothing to the game and I can think of about 279 other features that DayZ would be better off with than this system. I appreciate the effort gone into this, but no. Just no.

Has anyone else noticed that shotgun shells, both pellet and slug, are unable to be picked up now? -

So somehow the random deaths and inexplicable limb breakage means we're doing something wrong? Well since you're clearly the 'pro' and have currently nothing more to add than a few words. Why don't you enlighten us with some of your wisdom on how to avoid the abundance glitches and bugs introduced by this latest update..? -

Zombies are noticebly tougher. After quietly sucking it up for dieing for some unknown reason the instant my character spawned in the world (losing 8 days worth of gear no less) I snuck into my friendly local Elektro supermarket. Aggro'd two zombies about 200 meters away while walking through supermarket entrance. Ran up the back of the supermarket, Found a Lee Enfield and a watch. Equipped Enfield and proceded to try and take out the two zombies shambling towards me. Two shots to the head and one to upper chest to kill a zombie about 10 feet away with the Enfield? No thx. Are the zombies tougher or the guns weaker or what? Somehow I think the fun has just been taken out of this game.... -

The good news is I kept my character and all my gear, no problem. The bad news is I am not keen on the new Z ai. How am I spotted while sneaking through bushes and long grass while pressed up against a fence line? Not by the zombies that are directly in front of me, but by some random Z shambling along in the distance? The crawling while prone system is now really the only way to get through towns. The cover-to-cover crouch run is no longer viable. Sadly. You can still crawl past a zombie only meteres away from you. I don't enjoy being forced to crawl through towns explicitly. It is now worthless to scope out towns and plan your path as I did before, you are now better off hitting prone about 100-meters out of town and crawling your way through. Not fun. What a shame.. this update was highly anticipated looks like the general consensus is that it's a bummer. I shudder to think how it must be for new characters. Also, I'm starting the think that the more we dislike this game, the happier Rocket is.... -
That first image holds particular significance seeing I was shot and killed by two bandits about 30 seconds after - while I was trying to get a better screenshot :-(

I would love to have every building enterable, with heaps for loot up for grabs.. clothes, cutlery, jewellery, sunglasses, blankets, chemicals etc etc etc But currently even in small towns without any actual enterable buildings, there are still outhouses and verandahs and awnings that can contain loot. It is still worth your while checking them out. I did have a chuckle when I entered one of those outhouses and found a pile of "logs" on the seat. The irony was not lost on me.

Definately no jump button. People exploit this way too much in FPS games. I can just see that crew of bandits i'm trying to snipe in the open field jumping their way accross like idiots to make themselves harder to hit. Improve vault, but definately no jump.
