I watched 5hizzle on his twitch.tv stream. Seemed to be a lot of fun so I bought Arma 2: CO to play DayZ.

Yes I would redo it. Now all you have to do is delete the @DayZ folder and then recreate it you don't have to try to uninstall the beta because the beta overwrites itself. Just rerun that beta install and continue from there.

Just install the beta patch you don't have to redo everything. It doesn't matter what order you install them in just that they are both installed and you modified that file that you made the shortcut out of.

I take it your using steam so I can direct you to this: 1. do this: Download and install beta patch from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php (Latest patch is in the green field top of page) If you are met with a "Password screen" then choose the top version on page (Not in the green field) Go to the Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead directory (for example C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead) and right-click -> edit on .cmd file "_runA2CO_beta.cmd". Search for ":run" near the end of the file. Add ";@dayz" without quotes to "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca". so it will look like this "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca;@dayz" Create a shortcut on your desktop of the file you just edited. Download DayZ Mod files. http://www.armafiles.info/dayz/ Make a folder named "@DayZ" in your Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead directory. Inside "@DayZ" folder create another folder named "Addons". It should look like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\@DayZ\Addons Unpack all DayZ Mod files in the "Addons" folder. Then run the short cut you made earlier and it should work.

Didn't have nothing as weird as that with items but the server I normally play on was pitch black. I mean nothing. Tried my flashlight but either it didn't work or it worked and the server is borked that I couldn't see it. Found one other server like that when I was hunting for a different server and a few that were the waiting for character to create hang.

It seems to be effecting only certain servers. My normal server I was on was up but was pitch black when I got in. And I mean black nothing could be seen. Tried my flashlight and either it never came on or came on but the server was messed up and it was just blackness. So I left and went to another server and I got stuck on waiting for character to create. Had to close it in task manager and tried another server same thing. So I went back to my normal got in and same blackness. Finally got into another server and it was blackness also. So I decided one more try and got into another server and it worked. Could see places and was able to play for about a hour and found me a nice CZ 550. All I can say is try different servers until you find something that works.

I hope you are okay Rocket. I just started playing a week ago and enjoy it very much and can't wait for the new patch.
