  1. Haha yeah I didn't mean to say that everybody's sucking it up even though they hate the game. That'd be a ridiculous assumption, especially since people who don't like the game are always more vocal about it.
  2. The Zombie genre "as a whole" like I said also includes infected obviously, actually there was this movie not so long ago "Black Sheep" which was basically a Zombie movie without Zombies, they were replaced by sheep but the rest of the movie was just the same. Just like the movie "Mulberry street" is also considered a "Zombie flick" because it's not about reanimated corpses but precisely about what you just said "survival and the unpredictability of human interaction in the face of surviving in such a harsh environment" which is that of a fast spreading virus that turns people into monsters.
  3. You must be the first person I see saying something nice about this engine being used for dayZ. :P
  4. Raw => If you replied "ALPHA" and locked a thread discussing what will happen after the Alpha, you'd be a shitty moderator.
  5. Lord Opeth => I agree with you on this, we get people complaining about bugs as if they shouldn't be there while playing an alpha on one hand and on the other hand we get people who simply refuse to discuss the game's flaws because "it's still an alpha, wait and see". I don't know how I feel about that...
  6. I don't know what kind of replies you are expecting when you say that. But yeah, it's the safest thing to do and you have nothing to lose by doing so, so do it. It is the best way to survive as of today.
  7. I see you get my point! I was wondering if some of the people who replied actually read my post entirely. :P By "Fantasized over" I don't mean DayZ itself but rather as Rocket says "This game everybody was thinking about but nobody had made yet", which DayZ may or may not be.
  8. oZiix I know where you are coming from when you say that but no I'm not a DayZ fanboy-hipster. Actually I haven't even been playing that much lately because I feel like the Zeds are really not in a good place as of now and it ruins my fun too much as a solo player. Edit: It's not that I don't like the difficulty of them, I just don't get a "Zombie" feeling from them. They are too superhuman for my tastes, it just feels like the 2008 remake of Day Of The Dead and it's awful.
  9. I'm concerned mainly by the fact that since you lose everything every time you die, the process of losing players would be really quick if the game were to become too hard.
  10. Yes Bunster but since it's an Alpha, changes to come might radically change the mod into something that might not appeal to as many people.
  11. I don't know Bob, the 3 questions I wrote in the end kind of sum up what my concerns are. I'm afraid that if the hype dies, the mod might be dead in a year from now. (Not really dead but far from its current popularity.)
  12. On purpose or not, it's a good thing if they actually did fix the duplication bug at the same time.
  13. Like Ultenth said, never count on players being honest. They will use exploits if they can, a lot of them will. Most of them, actually.
  14. I feel like hearing a survivor's mom telling him it's dinner time would slightly break immersion... Joke aside, there would always be easy ways not to be heard by people in the game while still being heard on skype/teamspeak/mumble by for example configurating your game so that the microphone that's used would actually not be your main microphone or lowering your in game communication volume so much that they wouldn't hear you anymore. This would just give an advantage to "computer smart" people over lambda gamers.
  15. Don't be ridiculous, in case of an actual crisis people would be so scared at first that they would just try to find other people to group up with and to communicate with, they would need a leader, someone they think would be able to do the right thing. Only then, when everybody would be part of a group, people would start being protective when meeting other groups and do crazy stuff in order to survive because they are afraid to die or see someone they love die. What you see in DayZ currently are lonewolves who kill for sport. You wouldn't witness that unless these people were already psychopath beforehand and no, not everybody is a sociopath/psycho at heart or will become one after 2 weeks.
  16. I don't think the PvP in DayZ is unbalanced, actually I think it's not meant to be balanced. That's another debate though, about what you just said: Survivors running around with no weapon AT ALL and who visibly don't have any still get shot on sight a lot, actually I don't remember surviving an encounter with an armed survivor when I was unarmed. So yeah... Holsters wouldn't help.
  17. Not after you d/c'd but before you can d/c, like in World of Warcraft for example. Your character would sit down and wait for 15 seconds until you can leave. It would only force you to find a safe place to disconnect, which makes sense.
  18. Would a 15-20 sec timer before disconnecting prevent you from disconnecting in order to "take a break, take a shit, answer the phone/door, make a cup of tea/food, check the forums, check facebook, talk the mrs, talk to the kids, so on and so forth!" ? I didn't think so.

    Zombies in building

That's your argument? Completely remove zombies in buildings because you entered a building full of them without a weapon and died? What the hell?
  20. Hello. 1. I think, it's an ambient sound which will play randomly from time to time when there are wire fences near you. 2. Not all servers feature this, most actually don't. 3. No idea, sorry. 4. I believe it also is a meaningless ambient sound. 5. To my knowledge, Morphine injectors can be found everywhere they just have a really small loot chance percentage, around 1%. You have to go to Berezino, Tcherno or Elektro to get some from the hospitals there. 6.The Zeds are currently really fucked up in several ways, Rocket said that they were working on them so their animations will be more fluid and responsive/authentic.
