  1. ITT: People defending an update that makes you have to shoot 14 times with a pistol or a SMG to kill somebody.
  2. These nerfs make high end late game gear way more efficient than easily accessible weapons (Rifles using STANAG ammo and Sniper rifles aren't nerfed in this patch.) You basically just have to find an AS50 and go to the coast to kick some noob ass without even risking much anymore, the "equalizer" (Lee enfield) which provided "balance" is no match to your 37K damages rifle. Amazing. (Better watch your back guys, if you let somebody empty a whole makarov magazine in your chest it might very well damage you for up to 6 K blood. Shit son, that gun sure hurts.)
  3. I got a better one for you: Has anyone not been killed by a "Friendly"?
  4. Haven't seen one in a while either, made it feel so much better when I killed those 3 guys in ghillies camping Elektro this morning.
  5. It can't possibly take only one murder to technically make you a bandit, can it?
  6. Night time is amazing, the only thing that makes people not want to play by night IMO is the fact that NVG are in the game. If everybody is struggling then it's fine, if a select few bandits can see you clear as day, not really. About the rest, a few things will get fixed... Most will be in the stand alone version, 1 year at least from now !
  7. I mostly kill them in one/two shots with my 1911. 4 is even worse than a makarov, must be the server you're on.
  8. I shoot on sight at armed survivors and I will hunt them if I hear gunshots near me because it is the most efficient and least boring way to survive.
  9. What if I told you that these tools are ineffective and that becoming another PvP player is inevitable? There is no incentive to playing as a group, everybody has the same skills and another player is only needed for blood bags. I've been surviving for 20 days and I have yet to need a blood bag. Safe zones are absolutely impossible to create as of today and I don't know what you mean exactly when you say "trading areas" but I bet it's nothing that can survive server hoppers, hackers and all kind of murderers.
  10. I don't know about that, I remember back when I suscribed it was 180 000 unique players and 85 000 in the last 24 hours. Now it's 700 000 and 130 000 in the last 24 hours.
  11. That all sounds good, except the number 5 which is really disappointing IMO. It's not about people DCing too many times, it's about them DCing that one time when they are being shot at. And that's hardly often enough to set punishments that wouldn't affect regular players.
  12. Oh come on, there are already 3 threads. :(
  13. Indeed, I was only really stressing the fact that these numbers might be low but they are actually relatively high compared to other countries so yeah, people are even less natural born killers than most might think. I get your point, though. So what do you think about the results of the poll? While they are quite disappointing to me in a way, I'm not really surprised that a majority doesn't manage to get immersed properly as it takes a certain kind of personality IMO.
  14. Depending on the context, DayZ can be a game, just a mod, a simulator, an anti-game or a social experiment. It's all playing with words to sound smarter than the person you're arguing with and pretend you know precisely what Rocket wants to do with DayZ.
  15. Then you could still argue that the absence of any kind of law enforcement would make these numbers meaningless in the case of a Zombie apocalypse. I actually think they are revealing. The homicide rate (including self defence) in the US as of 2010 is of 4.8 per 100 000 population : Think about how many times these 100 000 people might have been in a situation of temporary insanity, deep anger or loss of control due to life events or use of drugs/alcohol or even in a self defence situation and yet only 5 of them - 0,005% - committed murder. And yet, the homicide rate in the US is still 10 times more than that of Norway in 2010. Humans are not killing machine.
  16. The difference is that in real life everybody belongs to a social network (I'm not a native english speaker so I don't know if it's the right way to put it but by social network I don't mean a website, rather the actual thing.) which is composed of people they care for and who care for them. Humans are social animals, the first phase of a zombie apocalypse would consist solely of rejoining these people you care for. The only people that would be alone à la DayZ would be the ones who already have lost all their relatives and acquaintances and have nobody to team up with. And it is very likely that unless they were psychologically fragile and already snapped (Which would rather result in a suicide than in an AS50 killing spree.) they will look for other people who survived so they can communicate with them and discuss the situation and their feelings. The base setting of DayZ isn't compatible with a real life scenario.
  17. Have only seen like one or two hackers yet, lots of cheaters though. (Exploiters at least.)
  18. I think what Perestain meant was that people can't know if they would have reacted the same way in real life. It is very likely that they wouldn't have, though.
  19. Taking a life -even when it comes down to pulling a trigger- isn't an easy thing to do and it takes a certain kind of people to be able to do it.
  20. Some people will feel all these things because they manage to get immersed or to play a role. Mostly solo players IMO. I believe that a majority of players only feel the recoil of their rifle when they shoot somebody, though.
  21. I don't know about that, it looks like it's almost never updated so the 35 minutes average could just have been old news.
  22. I love how some people actually think in the event of such a zombie apocalypse you would witness similar behaviours as in DayZ. And then when you try to tell explain them why you think they are wrong they tell you that you're a carebear and that you have too much faith in humanity. Lol.
  23. Oh come on, I like this mod but how can you even compare Mozart and Rocket? The last time I checked Rocket only created another Zombie mod which happened to be for a simulator FPS instead of a classic FPS.
  24. But then again, people who just installed the game are more likely to play for a longer time than they normally would since they are discovering the game. So yeah, too many things to consider! 7 hours as an average is still surprisingly low. We'll see what the numbers are once they will have stabilized.
