Would you kill the unarmed?
[email protected] replied to Ashnik's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, I would. No quarter given. -
Dogs are in next patch !!!!!!
[email protected] replied to dgeesio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'M CALLING IT NOW: Dogs are going to be so ridiculously useless/unreliable/buggy, after a few days nobody will bother having one except for a couple guys. Just like the medics or the weapons traders. There will be dog trainers. And they'll have a lot of crazy dog stories to tell us about. And no fucks will be given that day. -
DayZ standalone will use Real Virtuality 4 engine!
[email protected] replied to oZiix's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A free mod which is meant to collect data on what would be good to add or remove in a stand alone game. Given away for money. As in. MONEY. And that's fine, because that's the way it is. Never do something you're good at for free. -
DayZ standalone will use Real Virtuality 4 engine!
[email protected] replied to oZiix's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Talk about gratuitous flaming. DayZ using RV4 isn't a surprise, also a good news: The playable alpha will come out way sooner than with a new engine. :D -
Dogs are in next patch !!!!!!

"Teaching your dog" with the limitations of a mod and of the arma 2 engine? More like your dog will get + 100 Damage when biting for every day survived. Imagination.jpg -
Dogs are in next patch !!!!!!
[email protected] replied to dgeesio's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Totally agreeing with you on the fact that Rocket should add new features and try stuff, it's just that... Dogs? Really? I mean, I'm willing to bet my left nut that people won't bother with them. They will follow you everywhere and ruin any kind of stealth. And they WILL definitely be buggy as shit unlikeable and unreliable like any AI in the ArmA 2 engine. :< I guess Zeds would be able to kill them, too. Not really worth the effort to find one, feed it, etc. -

Really doesn't make me wet my panties. What is a dog useful for ? -
DayZ standalone... Wait for it, or buy now?
[email protected] replied to stefan_s's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well to be honest they also said it would come out as an unfinished product like Minecraft, we might even be playing the alpha of the standalone game just like we've been playing the alpha of the mod. Knowing this, and the fact that Rocket already tested DayZ on the Arma 3 engine not so long ago and already ported it successfully... before Christmas? I say we'll be playing the standalone game even sooner than that. -
Range of heartbeat and direct chat. And is this a DM?
[email protected] replied to mattressi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes it has completely devolved into a deathmatch. Hearbeat range is 20 meters. Direct chat is 80 meters IIRC, probably less. Those who are still playing as friendly survivors are the ones who hide and avoid other players. Don't talk to anybody, don't let anybody see you and you'll be fine. -
Regarding theft of two Toyota Hiluxes (white offroad pickups) on NL11

Wtf guys? What he said was obviously a joke. What's wrong with you both? -
It does depend on the server! What made you think it didn't?

Died after a long time..
[email protected] replied to Jimmy McNulty's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I guess you were living under a rock lately. :D Everybody I've met in the last 2 weeks has tried to kill me! Except some people I had the jump on. These ones I killed before they had a chance to try. ^_^ -
Interesting post, it's a shame most people will only skim through it and reply with some retarded one-liners. I know where you're coming from, I remember you posting about how you were disappointed with DayZ when you first started playing and it seems you and I have had a similar love-hate relationship with the mod. So it's not a surprise that I mostly agree with what you said here. I wonder where DayZ will be one or two months from now.

The tactical significance of sniper rifles, accumulated rebuttals and why they're here to stay
[email protected] replied to ZedsDeadBaby's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
IMO, Rocket should actually TRY things. This is an alpha of a mod and there's no good reason that we shouldn't TRY removing or adding features or weapons and see what happens. I've been playing for like a month and a half and the only things that have been added are bear traps and some algorithms for zombies' sight/hearing. -
It's a shame you weren't there 3 days ago, then. I killed a bus driver (while it was moving, obviously.) with a CZ 550 and then destroyed the wheel so the passengers wouldn't be able to start it again, in two shots. I'm not even proud of myself, anybody could have done the same even with a fucking MP5. The only vehicle that's actually hard to stop/destroy is the Huey. All other vehicles are civilian vehicles and ridiculously fragile.
-
I do agree that the mod has bigger problems, but Rocket said himself that most of them won't or can't be fixed in the near future. Some not even until DayZ becomes a standalone, like the Zombies' pathfinding. Getting rid of some out of place weapons and maybe replacing them with better ones is the kind of change that we know can actually happen.

I got a tip too: Barbwire, tank traps and sandbags are terrible. Don't use them. Seriously. Survivors and hackers will spawn on your face anyway. -
What do you mean "How are we supposed to deal with vehicles?" ? Are we playing the same game? I wouldn't be surprised if you showed me a video of some guy destroying a bus by throwing smoke grenades or road flares at it.
