  1. Hey guys, as the title says I'm looking for a new group to play with.

    A little about me:

    22 Years old

    Western United States

I played for a long time with my previous group, whom eventually all moved on to different games, cut ties, ect.

So, I played solo for a bit until I eventually also lost interest in the game, well now I'm back and ready to start up again.

    I have TS3/Mumble/Ventrilo/Skype.

I have played DayZ on and off since the beginning of the Alpha.

I would be glad to meet anyone and everyone, just hit me up on:

    Steam: Crucifix911

Or send me a message/leave a post here!

    Thanks guys!

  2. Here's another instance of security,

This may take from the "realism", but hear me out.

Think for one moment, if it displayed who killed who, instead of "Retr0 was killed", it put "Retr0 was killed by Rage VG"

Then 20 more lines pop up by Rage VG killing people, wouldn't it be SO easy to BAM screenshot, BAM cheat reporting, or even shorter, BAM ADMIN BAN.

This is just one way the game could be modified in it's current state that would be so simple, but would make such a large change.

If this takes away from the game to much, at least make it displayable to the admins.

  3. I may not agree with your hacking, but I do like that you put forth a good study with statistics being shown.

    Enjoy my beans, sir.

May we see you in standalone?

And for that, I oblige. I do not condone hacking the way it is being treated, dropping players from the sky, kill commanding, and the like.

I see it as an opportunity for Rocket to consider the reverse method of the anti-cheat system. Get people to cheat the system, record the findings, deter the cheating, and continue until cheats are almost in-applicable.

Yes I will be playing the stand-alone because I support this game and the way it has formed 100%. I do not agree with Rocket's actions on some things, but he will get there. He is doing a fantastic job and he knows it. Keep his game up, and he will have a very successful baby on his hands.

And to the above, you can classify me under Option 2.

I like to see what I can pull-off, and what I can't. What has been detected, and what has not? I think it's sad to see that it took such a extended time for me to actually get banned. I would actually have much more faith if it happened in the first day or so.

This is week #4 of my hacking. I am not proud, I am not asking for forgiveness. Again, I will restate the fact I am providing the viewers of this thread with knowledge they may find interesting, if you do not, then there are other threads.

  4. my point is it all happened organically. it was never meant to be this big. it didn't begin as something that would make it easy for server admins to deal with hackers. it began as just trying to get the mod to work

I know it's cliche, but it's an alpha. can you think of another situation where you have to worry about your alpha testers hacking?

Yes, almost every other situation with every other gaming company PAYS their employees to try and hack their game. Why do you think games like Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, ect are very difficult to mod/hack/script in any way? Yes, of course the hacks are out there, but it isn't as simple as googling them.

As I stated before, how do you prepare a anti-cheat device if you have no idea what to expect? Simple! Get copious amounts of people to cheat it, report their findings, and then fix them before they go in to the standalone real-time.

  5. What I mean by the private hive "cheating", for exmaple, is my friends.

"Why play on a server that hands you vehicles easier, starts you out with weapons, where the admins can abuse their power!" so on and so forth.

And, to begin with, Private hives were frowned upon.

1 shit cannot be "corrected" in this mod. All you and the cheating scum of your ilk are doing is ruining a great mod. Spoiling the "fun" for others... You are so dreammy!

2 you fuck wads are picking on the little guy. Rocket and BIS are gamers making games. You and your kind are unable to hack shit so you attack a company that actually makes games not games for mega profit!

    3 fuck off!

    On the contrary, once again.

The mod can be corrected by giving admins the tools they need to make the game a safer environment for the player.

"You **** wads" is a remark based that there is a specific group of people like me. I don't intend to "hack ****" or "attack a company", I am simply extorting a game in a form that can be corrected based on actions done by people like me, or learn from our mistakes.

  6. If you use DayZ Commander, private hives are marked with a small X to left of the server name. Your characters on other servers have no effect here, and you will have to make one from scratch.

    Pros for private hives:

    1. Admins have significantly more power. If you smell like a hacker, they can ban you without having to provide logs.

    2. More/better loot and vehicles, if the admin has chosen to create it that way.

    3. Side chat is usually enabled.

    4. Sometimes you start with more gear.

    Cons for private hives:

    1. Admins have significantly more power. If you smell like a hacker, they can ban you without having to provide logs.

    2. More/better loot and vehicles, if the admin has chosen to create it that way.

    3. Side chat is usually enabled.

    4. Sometimes you start with more gear.

    Very informative. +Beans

What some people may like about them, some people view as cheating, just in a different form.

  7. Mm yes, but he could make it much more simple for server admins to do their job.

Most people don't understand that admins aren't just allowed to ban anyone on suspicion, admins aren't even allowed to look at the advanced logging.

And to the earlier posts, I do not justify hacking, I'm not asking for a sorry.

I'm supplying YOU with my findings. Like it or not, it's just another forum post in which some parties may find interesting.

Some people like icanhazcheezburger, some think it's stupid. It's up for the PEOPLE to decide.

  8. Are you joking? The countless video evidence on YouTube would say otherwise, even Rocket has been hacked live during interviews, your 'testing' is as a total waste of time, of zero benefit and no excuse for hacking yourself.

There are not that many videos as opposed to the population of people.

Being hacked live during an interview is nothing to write home about either. It's quite easy, and any knowledgable person could find someone live-streaming quite easily.

The videos you've seen about hacking evidence does not apply towards the fact that the server you're playing on right now, probably has 1-4 people doing it as we speak. A video will not show you that.

    Haha, of course!

Above all perks though, admins can ban on suspicion, not on fact. They do not have to provide logs to ban someone, they do not have to worry about their server being blacklisted for banning someone wrongfully.

They ban the suspect, and move on with their life. Hacking is reduced SIGNIFICANTLY on private hives.

Player 1 says : Player 2 is hacking!

Admin : Player 2 has been Banned. (Reason: Hacking)

    Simple as that.

Oh look another script bitch claiming the white hat approach! Bullshit you and all the cheating douches are the bane of the gamer community. You provided nothing to gaming, you are an insignificant loser. Be gone script bitch.

On the contrary, a true "white-hat hacker gone good" would ask for forgivness among his fellow peers, would ask for beans for his hard labor to produce such evidence of unholy, men.

I ask for nothing, and for 4$, will be playing the game again, and I will make more posts until such is corrected, or server admins are allowed to ban for suspicion of hacking on the main hive.

  9. Okay, I've never had much interest before but now because of this I am determined to find out:

What is a private hive, and where can I find one? ;~; I'll give beans for your knowledge.

Private hives are everywhere, just like the main hive servers.

Finding one is as simple as typing in "Hive" in to the filter. Many will pop up.

However private hives are, well, private. This means that your GUID is saved to a single private hive. Joining another private hive server will result in a new character having to be created.

Private hives are dedicated servers made by people that are not connected to the main hive. They do not apply to the same rules as a main hive server does, this is why private hives have side-chat, more vehicle spawns, character spawning with weapons, ect.

  10. Haha.

Oh I know, I deleted 80% of that post. Just tired. Yea I was mentioning they could even have a bot scripted not to show up or program that runs the whole 1/20th second. Detect a speed not able to be achieved, or player moves if they are too fast, tag them. All kinds of things that could happen. My favorites were automated that show up as an NPC talk shit to you as it disables something then bans you.

Can't remember what game or where i was at but the bot to do the kicking was a shit talking teddy bear. It would show up rattle off some line about you being a bad bad person then ban you. Personally the funniest way to see someone get banned. Shit talking ass kicking teddy bear.

Haha, sounds like a great addition.

"Bots" are indeed appliable, physical or imbedded in the server. Have you ever seen a log file for a server? It updates to fast to read, but the problem is most of the scripts don't get logged due to Rocket dumbing down the logging for server owners. This makes it easy to bypass with CreateVehicleLocal scripts and what not. Run a automated "Auto-it" system that checks ALL of the scripts as soon as they're applicable, from a person picking up a can of beans, to a person spawning a helicopter. Log everything.

Not only can anti hacks be implemented, but other gameplay quirks can be addressed as well. I know of at least one private hive where alt+f4ing within 10 seconds of firing a shot or taking damage will result in your character being killed.

    Another great feature to private-hives.

The way they achieve this is to delay the character in game. Ever seen what an alt-f4 looks like on a server like this? The character goes completely still, motionless. This happens because the server recieves the script that the player has logged out, then a 3rd party source writes a script simultaneously to put an npc in the players spot as if the player was still there. Then you end up killing the NPC, then the player logs back in to ghost or whatever he may try to do, and his character is dead. Quite ingenious fix to the problem in my opinion.

  11. I'm sure that when the standalone comes out "White hackers" will be hired to help stay on top of such things. I'd imagine anyway. Getting tired, cold kicking me arse

Absolutely correct, most if not all major gaming companies hire the appropriate scripters to make scripts, to find ways to hack the game. The only way to prevent your game from scripts and to give it the upmost security, is to try each and every way to breach it.

The issue with Battleeye is everytime it updates, true "hackers" are already making scripts to bypass it. The detection is never one step ahead. As soon as an update comes out, an updated script is born. This is the main issue, there was no "Preventative Maintenance" as we say in the blue-collar world.

  12. Believe it or not a lot of the people who post on the forums are probably hackers. I gave up "hacking" on games a long time ago, like I said just above.

Thought so. Suprised nobody's done that yet. DayZ is tonnes more popular than GunZ ever was, and there were antihacks for that in weeks. I suppose it was because literally zero effort was being put in to prevent anything on GunZ.

As I stated already, some private hives already have "anti-hacks" however, they run scripts just like a hack does, Thus on the main hive the anti-hacks are detected and the conductors are banned. Just like a regular hacker.

Wow clap clap you tested and proved a fact that all of us have know for a long time and is in fact obvious.

Then you go on to pontificate about how hacking should be eradicated, although you are yourself a hacker.

Dear God, there is so much wrong with this thread...

Mods need to remove these 'confessions of a hacker' threads as they only encourage other hackers.

As I see your frustration, I don't believe anyone has ever provided hard facts other than "IM GETING HAXED OMG ALL DAY LNG".

I want to provide concrete evidence that not only some servers have hackers, but almost all of them do.

  13. Fully aware that there are good guys in that crowd, as I was one of 'em, back in the day when GunZ was popular. Tonnes of hackers on that. Fortunately I got some AntiHack scripts so basically make their hacks ineffective. With your experience with the hacks, would you say the same sort of antihack is possible? By this I mean, when a player mass kills, he is permanently made unable to do damage, if he moves across the map at insane speeds then he is frozen, etc? I understand you are not insterested in posts asking for hacks, and I'm not asking for any. Just wondering if in your opinion those things are even possible.

This is a great question. In my small amount of experience with "Private Hives" the ability to "roll-back" all players on the server to a time in which they weren't dead is already available. (One reason I believe Private Hives are superior.) To really answer your question, could there be mod tools to eliminate such scripts from executing? Absolutely. The same way a script to spawn a vehicle is executed, a mod or program could simultaneously scan for such scripts being ran, and execute them before they occur. This program could run script checks 1/20th of a second, without creating much server load or client-side load. (Some private-hives already have this capability.) A hack against a hack, so to speak.

Remember, the common hack is a plugin, an "injection" in to the server. This is how the server recognizes and executes the scripts.

  14. Hello everyone, I'm Retr0. I am 21 years old and have been playing DayZ since the beginning of the mod. I have had great times with this game, and have had bad times. I am now known as "Global Ban #6796". Here are some statistics that I found throughout my travels and tests, that you may find interesting.

    :WARNING:

This post is not about crying, pity, or name-calling. No people we're kill in my experiences with scripting/hacking (Many of which I have made myself.) If you are here to name-call, cry, or claim self-pity. Please go to another thread.

To start this thread on the right foot, there are many claims about hacking on the forums, problems with hackers, and general scripting encounters throughout DayZ. These claims are completely true, and it is rampant in the community, but how bad is it?

    -Test #1-

Test #1 was conducted on September 2nd, 2012. This test included 20 random servers between the populations of 10-30 at my current peak time. As follows; each server had about 10 minutes spent on each one. Here are the results:

Of the 20 servers, 16 had signs of hacker activity. These servers had tent cities on the edge of the map, containing loot such as 10+ satchel charges. 1 server had 4 helicopters at one camp location. 1 server had a yellow URAL (Illegitimate spawn) at a camp in the north. Multiple servers had "All" of the vehicles at said camp locations (Including the boats). One thing these servers all had in common, they were all barricaded in with sandbags, hedge hogs, and barbed wire, and I mean immense amounts of them. 4 of these particular servers had non-DayZ loot, 1 particular camp having 10 "Laser Designators", however all had items such as AK-107s.

    -Test #2-

Test #2 was conducted on September 8th, 2012. This test included 10 random servers, all between the populations of 30-40 at my current peak time. The players on these servers were teleported to, attempted to give loot to, and/or vehicles. As follows; each server had an estimated 30 minutes on each one. Here are the results:

Of these 10 servers, 8 had signs of SIGNIFICANT hacker activity. 4 of these servers I teleported to random players on the map. On these particular servers, the "victim" teleported away. (Now let's hold up a minute Retr0! What do you mean teleported, they just ALT-F4'd!) WRONG. The Maphack I was using continued to show these players on the map, 1000m+ away from me. 1 server in particular, I had to beat it out of the "victim". I asked if he wanted loot, the victim refused. I asked if the victim wanted a helicopter, again, the victim refused. At this point, the victim spawned ME a medical box (Known as the "super box") with loot inside that I DID NOT HAVE. 2 of the servers I was dropped in the water and killed within 5 minutes of spawning. The last remaining server had a person spawned in Rocket skin, as they say, "Nuff said".

    The Conclusion

Unfortunately for me, on September 12th, 2012, I was globally banned. Fortunate for all other players as this kind of play is not and will not be tolerated under any circumstances, even for the "greater good" of the alpha.

However, hopefully this will show someone that the hacking is absolutely RAMPANT, it is out of hand, and it is ruining players experiences. So what am I trying to achieve?

    To Whom it may Concern,

In the future of the mod DayZ, and in the upcoming Alpha, the gamebreaker will be the detection and eradication of said players conducting foul play. In the current state of the game, allow server owners to ban those suspicious of hacking and/or scripting. This will have some consequences such as abuse, but in the long run, it will be better for the community as a whole. I've been told many times by admins I'll get banned, however they did not have the proof to find me as guilty. The current state of bypasses and script-plugin's with built in bypasses will not log certain actions. Any script redeemed client side only will not log, such as gearboxes, the only thing I've been caught for is "CreateVehicle Restriction" pertaining to a server-side script.

The future relies on these factors.

    :WARNING:

I will not accept requests for hacks, scripts, places to get such things. I will personally report messages and/or posts requesting said things. I will not be responsible for you, or anyone else, I will not replace any cd-keys and I will not enhance your game experience.

    You have been warned.

  15. Hey guys, just trying to see if I can get another group to play with considering everyone I've ever played with now has dissapeared.

What I'm looking for is a group that is tactical, that gives a shit, must have mumble or skype. I live on the West Coast of United States, so west or east would be great. I ask that the group is properly geared to handle their own, and has a tactical mindset.

    About Me:

21 years old, been playing DayZ since it came around to being popular. I'm on Day 42 survival, and have maxed out gear. (Gps/Rangefinder/NVG ect). I enjoy sniping in the game, considering that's what I'm best at. I'm very experienced with vehicle maneuvering and helicopter piloting.

Send me a message here or add me on steam Crucifix911.

Thanks guys, look forward to finding you!

  16. Well anyone looking to add anyone to their group please let me know. I would prefer to have a sniper position, but can also do close-quarters combat or support positions.

Just for more information, I am currently geared with the following:

    CZ550

    M4A1 CCO

    REVOLVER

    Coyote Backpack (24 Slot)

    Necessary Survival Tools

Nothing extreme as of now, but I just lost DMR/GPS/Range/NVGS to a friend "having my back". Also lost a UAZ to the same reason.

So again, anyone looking to add a competent member to their group, I'm here.
