it can work if you managed to implement some sort of non-lethal weapon, or a "hit on the head move". And then you need to fix the Disconnecting exploit. All in all, it will take time. But me and my friends are already robbing people when we can. And i got robbed too and left alive. So it is very rare, but it happens when you encounter the "good" kind of player. -
i had this "waiting for host" . Only way for me to fix it was to roll back to the previous beta patch.

A SMALL REVIEW OF ALL THE PROBLEMS ME AND MY TEAM ENCOUNTERED while trying to update to last BETA ARMA PATCH 94945 with 1.7.1.3. 1/BATTLEYE FAILED INITIALISED : So we tried to go there http://www.battleye.com/download.html to download the last .dll versions but since then we have our ARMA that simply CRASH after joining the server. (server is with the last hive version and up to date - it is FR35) 2/ WRONG CD KEY: But it doesnt seems to prevent to play normally. I'm reinstalling evrything now.

Nice story above my post. Anyway my story on FR35. I was among a nice group of people who "only" shoots armed people. We never deco from aggro so we had to make a stand before 50 or more zombies attacking us in NWAF Airfield. All the players within 1 kilometers knew there was trouble in the Airfield. With the last zombie biting the dust, we all stay silent, scouting the area. I go outside to provide overwatch for my team who is looting the Firehouse and the Northern Barracks. The rain start to fall. I hear very distant shots coming from Stary sobor camp. In 20 minutes or so, i am sure we won't be alone anymore. So we position ourselves to ambush the poor souls who would be fool enough to come in the airfield. And we wait again. We chitchat a bit through our radio having fun. Two of us - Cowboy and AirOne, as we call them - are really funny and can't stop making jokes.I think for myself that i really like these guys. Time passes. 30 minutes later all is quiet and we decide to move on to our camp. We all regroup in the firestation before moving out, and we are extra careful because we heard there are some ghost that can pop up into existence behind your back and kill you. We call them "the hoppers". Must be a side effect of this plague which is killing all of us. In the FireHouse we all stop breathing as we hear a noise. A coughing noise. That's me. I dont say it as i know what happenned to the last one of us who got sick. Cowboy and AirOne are close to me. I'm sure Airone heard me cough but didn't tell. Cowboy did heard too.. And he tells the others. They all go away from me as i am told i could be contagious. My blood is slowly going down. We don't have antibiotics. Cowboy shots me dead. You never die of fever in these lands. Such is life in Chernarus

Then you have to wait 3-4 min. That is NOT such an horrific amount of time to wait. You can go make yourself a coffee :) . Plus, there is GMT indication on servers. Finally, i find that the majority of players have their favorites server and usually connects only to these ones. Unless you server hops of course :P

i know we mainly need to focus on bug right now, but iread that there would be some content released in this update like -beartrap (check) -new skins (..?..) -new weapons (..?..) Am i totally wrong or was it just removed waiting for some stability ? Regarding the Hotfix 1.7.1.3 + Last beta pacth : No trouble at all. -Good loot spawn. -PERFECT zombie aggro. -Good performance on my E6750 + ATI 5770. You just have to fix the "Disconnecting to avoid danger" issue now Rocket :) . I know it must be some heavy workload but thats really the only thing i can think of regarding games breaking mechanics at the moment. Thanks Dayzteam. Love your work.

i like this tent idea. But again, this is only nice cosmetic to keep the immersion when our trouble seem to agree on the time the "timer/pitching your tent/any animation" would last before you effectively disconnect from the server. I don't agree. Alpha is also to fix game mechanics. Moreover the dangerous ladders, stairs, and any collision issue won't be fix anytime soon in Arma 2 as it is a "core bug" in the engine. It happens in Arma 2 where yourself or AI can go through walls etc. They didn't fix it all this time cause i think they can't in this engine. I pray Arma 3 won't have these issue (And i hope that a journalist will finally force/ask them to show us some ladder animations, and people fighting indoors or walking up stairs - that would interest me more than underwater operation) Meanwhile in arma 2, the collision shape of guns can be changed to allow you easier deplacements indoor with a weapon. I think it was a mod call "St_movement" from the Shack team. Thats all i saw in like 4 years.....

15-30 seconds make it too easy to escape from any danger zone. You encounter a horde? Go hide in a buildings and by the time they walk to you you will have deco. You missed your shot with your M24 snipe on a poor makarov bastard in elektro? Just go back in the wood and deco. The deco timer need to make us think TWICE before going in any dangerous situation. I would feel safe with a 15-30 sec timer. With a longer one i would play really safe, and would think before act. Brilliant idea.

Ok, that's **finally** interesting. :P Please name the issues that would arise from a 2-3 min Disconecting timer. Cause i don't see any. AND i have a net connection that forces me out of the server 2 times per hour more or less. Too long? Thats 4 minute to wait in TOTAL if you got kicked from the server for example. That's not much. I have camped outside a supermaket in Berezino for like 15 minutes because i heard gunshots and was scared. 2/3 minutes to wait is really nothing IMHO. Especially if you consider the benefits you get from it. Getting Killed while Deconnecting? You can stop the timer any time if you just move your character. Meaning you can shoot back if someone approaches you. Your internet went down or someone ALT-F4 by *accident*? Shit happens and that's boring i have to agree. But please compare the amount of "Disconnecting People" you have seen ruining your immersion with the amount of internet crash you suffer. It is still a really rare event. If it's not then you need to do something with your ISP. The "other issues" you don't find serious are unfortunately of extreme importance to me. And to all players that wants authenticity and immersion in their game. Servers hoppers that loots and appears on your back. Bandits that disconnect as soon as you return fire and flank you. Or the prey you have been stalking for 20 minutes that deconnects after your first shot. these are things you really can't ignore if you care for dayz game mechanics, and immersion. If i forgot any other inconvenient that would be created by a 2-3 min DC timer, please correct me. On a side note, i really wonder why people just HAVE to mention "CallofDuty-Troll-Rage" or such words each time they are posting in a forum. Let's speak like in real life shall we? :D

Its not for you to decide what is primary or secondary. I primarly play as a coop game. Some others don't. Thats not the point of this thread so back on topic. Disconnecting while facing danger is the topic. Danger can be players, or it can be zombies. So lets leave the old PVP debate out of this thread. Maybe the real solution would be to have one character in each server.. that would replace you at an other place on the map preventing any kind of abuse. But it would delete the "persistant world" feeling in the game.

I will ignore the dumb part of this post like *go play other pvp game if not happy n stuff* and comment the smart part. (you see you are capable of both ;) ) I am not a pvper. I play in a friendly group on FR35 (or at least friendly to people who know how to communicate ingame). Each time we encounter bandits, we shoot some of them. The others DC and respawn Behind us or on our flank. That behavior is now AUTOMATIC............ but not for us. We find ourselves playing the game as you seem to agree it should be played, but you don't agree that a 2-3 min DC timer - you freeze till you deco but can still abort it if you move- would help us erase that behaviour... By the way that solves the problem the above poster mentionned aka being killed while logging out.. I just don't get it. Thats ok, of course you can think you have a better solution but i just dont understand.. Regarding the sleeping bag or whatever, it's a good idea but that cosmetic. At the moment we need X amount of time required before logging out. I just pray for that X to be longer than 1 or 2 minutes.

Can't we just find a way to FIX banditry instead of trying to delete it? Bandits are cool as they make my game more intense, more dangerous. BUT at the moment i dont see any real bandits playing. I only see murderous crazy bastard that will deco the instant you return fire. THAT is total bullshit and makes the Bandit way of playing completely broken at the moment. Playing as a bandit shouldn't be the EASY way. It should be the DANGEROUS and REWARDING way. At the moment i have absolute contempt for bandits as they are most of the time exploiters, and cowards DCers that can't roleplay for a minute. I have encountered some rare exceptions. Bandits that outplayed me and killed me. One even let me incouscious after a firefight of 30 min, just robbed me and left me. THIS is banditism i adore and respect. -
How does it work? Some people don't play Wow :P And again : 30 SEC doesn't fix any DC problem. Server hoppers, Dc and reposition to kill, etc etc. So i say 30 sec is just useless. 2-3 minutes logout timer. Thats all we need to fix all our chernarussian problem. It doesn't punish anyone as it IS a really small amount of time. Not even enough to make myself a coffe ffs....

I need your knowledge guyz. I thought the 1.7.2 would bring some content in the game. Like : -Bear Traps -Some new skins -New weapons (melee or not) Have you seen any of that ANYWHERE? I'm guessing it has been disabled at the moment. But maybe i'm just totally wrong and no content was meant to be add ingame. Do you guys have any input on that? I think i had read about it on twitter but can't find any lmention of that anymore. The night 1.7.2 was released, i was meant to have a guillie suit but instead i had a new skin i never saw before. Not with the blurry texture from baf or PMC but all hd. It was nice. It disappeared soon after and now im just in a regular skin. As for new weapons or beartraps, i didnt find any of that......

The main issue is that people disconnect as soon as a shot is fired' date=' or they are spotted. If you want big PvP firefights, go and play Battlefield 3 or something. There are plenty of games that cater to that kind of mentality and game style. Sounds like you just need to let it go (the need to kill people). My suggestion would most definitely prevent all instant disconnects, because the threat of losing all of their gear (the reason they disconnect in the first place) would be too great. You could even have it so that repeat offenders get less chances. So if you lose all of your gear 3 times because of disconnecting, then after that, you lose it after 1 instant disconnect without sitting first. A 3 minute, or 7 minute wait punishes everyone because of the actions of a few. That isn't cool, regardless of how annoying DCers are. [/quote'] PLease o please be smart enought not to ask me to "go play BF3" or "COD" because i am trying to find some solutions to the DC issue. That is just plain stupid. Beyond that. I play in a sruvivor group. We help whoever we can. FR35 is the server. We never deco to depop zombie nor reposition in firefight. We have our asses otfen kicked because of that. Do you understand now? Bandits NEEDS to think TWICE before engaging or not. And when they decide to engage, they should do it knowing that they won't escape easily if things turn bad. Your 30 sec timer doesnt prevent from that so it is useless IMHO. A 3 min timer DOES. Or 2 minutes if really your time is so precious when you play video games... Dayz is a slow paced and Intense game. A long timer preventing DC is in its spirit.

I'm sorry im not smart enough to understand how this bug tracker at Dev Heaven works. So i'll post here and sorry if its been mention before. 1.7.2 Bugs : 1/ Group channel works for everybody. It behave like a global chat now. 2/Green diamond that marks squad members are presents. 3/Ghillie suit = being invisible to other players.
