  1. Things were going ok. For me anyway. It was new character since yesterday. I had an AK74 and 3 clips. A revolver, couple of blood bags, a few morphine and a couple of wayer bottles and a load of cooked meat. Not bad for me tbh. I came across a helicopter crash site. Somewhere north west of Msta of all places. I was heading towards a deer stand. The crash site was very close to the tree line and near the road. I expected that anything of value would be long gone. Wrong ! Bizon SD , FN Fal, L8582 and a box of Ammo with x10 of each SVD , DMR and another ammo I can't recal. There may have been other things there as well but that's what I saw in the time I had. I never realised these crash sites had all this stuff at once. I always thought they had 1 maybe 2 guns max. Anyway, while I was checking the loot and deciding what to take in exchange for my AK74 I suddenly hear very loud fire sound effect. Like the sound of a camp fire but many times louder. It was coming from the chopper but there was no fire animation just the sound. This put me off guard for a moment and hadn't realised that the sound that had started all of a sudden had got the attention of the military Zeds that were around. There were about 8 of them that were near enough to go into alert mode. I was still in the inventory menu and by the time I realised they were running in for the attack it was too late. SLAP ! unconscious and watching a timer as I went from 11+ k blood down to feck all as they chomped on my screaming corpse :( Lesson ? Yes I may be adapt at creeping past a bunch of Zeds to get to a crash site without alerting them or expending ammo but I should have taken them out before I started shopping. My own bloody fault. The biggest stash of goodies I have ever found and it was the death of me. Moral ? Don't get blinded by the loot. Pay attention to the real business, which is keeping yourself alive. Next time I will know how to handle it. And tbh I would never of had a problem but I didn't expect that sound effect to just kick in like that. Still, even though I died I got to see a crash site and see first hand what one can offer. Looking forward to next one now. Just thought I would share my 5 minutes of Good, and bad luck. You lives and you learns ;) Server was US348 if you want to look for the wreck. My corpse has some nice stuff too lol.

A SOLUTION TO THE CAREBEAR PROBLEM!

The carebear problem is slowly being addressed by the devs. They took a major step forward when they stopped all the carebears who think the game is about building loot mountains from using their magic loot caves, (otherwise known as tents) of map to store their gold. That's the sort of carebear goings on that ruin the game. The sort that just farms all day and jerks off over their loot. People who complain are not carebears. They are just whiny gits who don't get that this game can have all types of play side by side. Whether they are complaining about PVP, or like you complaining about carebears, it's all just whining to my ears.

    whats the point?

Come on guys. Stop messing with him and tell him where the save button is. It may be funny but you lot would rage too if you couldn't save your progress.

Vaulting animation Day Z could use

Although I don't think it's worth adding and the current step over is fine. Your reasoning would be nice to hear rather than "that's just dumb". Without a reason for you thinking it's dumb it's a pointless post.

Vaulting animation Day Z could use

Jumping / vaulting was never in Arma II, unlike every other FPS where space bar makes you jump. The reason was realism. A soldier with a 50 Ilb pack and all his other eqipment doesn't do a lot of jumping. For dayz though that no longer really apples as we don't carry as much weight. (normally) But tbh I don't think it would be an improvement. We have the abilty to get over fences, all be it not on the run. But the time to take to implement this is time that could be spent in more valuable areas imo. Not a terrible idea. Just not really worth the expense imo. Also, I think the step over animation is ok, and more realistic as most of the time you step over things as opposed to a running jump. (Zeds chasing you being the exception) :)

Banned from US129 for shooting at admin

Just read this thread and I haven't seen anyone defending the action of hackers. Not sure where you get that from.

    More Barbed Wire Fencing complaints...

I have noticed atrtifacting on occasion when approaching some buildings. When I get closer the ones that begin to have these graphic glitches always have barbed wire in, or around them. Doesn't happen often and it's not a result of overheating or anything like that. And my clock speeds are not overclocked. I have no graphic issues on any other game, it's only now and then that a building with barbed wire in can for me sometimes cause artifacting. Edit: And yes as pointed out, screen tearing is something else entirely. And can be sorted by turning on vertical sync. The graphic glitches you show in your screen shots are "artifacting"

People aren't as coldblooded as you think.

If you yell someone to stop approaching your position and they ignore you then yes, you shoot them. And I don't consider that murder. It's self defence. As for not finding most people to be the types you have read about I can contest to that. I am careful and cautious, but on the whole I find most people who I talk to are decent people. Though it is worth mentioning I will only talk and socialise with someone if certain conditions are all met. Those are the rules I travel by and they serve me well. I don't for instance try and strike up a convo with a group of heavily armed guys who are coming out of a town that I just heard gunfire from lol :)

    M1911 or Revolver?

Pretty much why I carry the revolver. The reload sound just on it's own pretty much seals the deal for me ;) Is there any difference to the rate of fire between the two ?

Can I haz your stuff ?
  15. Green mountain is a newbie magnet. That enormous red and white transmitter that can be seen for dozens of miles hypnotises them. They cannot resist the urge to find out what lies at the top of that mountain. I avoid it as a route and go around it but there always people there every time I pass.

    I disconnect to........

Not sure where this fear that innocent players are going to be punished for legitimate logging of is coming from. I have played plenty of games that have a loggof timer that starts once combat, or damage, or and offensive action like firing a shot has taken place. Not one single time has it affected me leaving the game to take a break or finish my gaming for that session. Worrying about things that won't affect you.

    Direct Chat

Never ever, under any circumstances say into a mic when meeting people "Friendly". Whether you are stating your friendly or asking a question. It just makes you look like an idiot and no one will take you seriously. [Real life] Imagine, it's late at night and your in the wrong side of town. You walk down an alley and 3 armed dodgy looking geezers step out and block your way. And you ask "friendly". You wouldn't expect to survive. Just start talking. Preferably from cover until you get an idea of their character and intentions. Don't deal with anyone who won't respond with voice. But above all stop asking "friendly". I know everyone does it, and that's the problem. It's so over used it's a throwaway sentence that no one hears any more.

    Luckiest loot you've discovered?

Military Zeds do yeah. Quite often find nice stuff on those guys. Also, not really lucky but I just found a can of mountain dew in that wooden log house with a hall as you go through the front door, and a room at the end with a table inside. First one I have found in 9 weeks :)
