The only reason I'm not a fan of the mask is that it's a reference of another game which is a reminder that you are, in fact, playing a game. Immersion, consider yourself broken. The Fawkes mask reminds me of stupid memes so I dislike that by default.

Totally agree. Would love it if there could be a combination of both where good threads and posts could be "liked" enough to show on the frontpage. It's impossible to follow discussions in this format, especially when a majority of posts are off topic or jokes.Also; there was a guy in the steam group chat last night banging on about how we are all blind followers of rocket, just like the blind followers of Obama and how these forums censor everything and hates everyone with touchy opinions. Guess who that turned out to be?

Or he is still testing and just replying quickly while waiting for something to load. Maybe he has something in the microwave, perhaps a pizza. Might just be he heated it for two minutes and then realized it was still frozen in the middle so he had to heat it some more. Now he has to wait a few more minutes but there's really no point to do work since he knows he has to get up and fetch his no longer frozen micro wave pizza in just two minutes. Perfect time to post irrelevant crap on reddit!

Believe me; once the alpha is out and I have paid for it, if there are lots of broken promises one year in the future I will be upset too. As it stands right now we are not owed a damn thing and I fail to understand how so many internet folks can't understand that.

May I ask how you learned the map like the back of your hand? Surely you didn't use some kind of map?

I can't think of anything worse than playing Brothers or Super Meat Boy with keyboard and mouse. Controllers have a very valid place in PC gaming.

All I know about this subject is that Windows by default uses default drivers compatible with Xbox controllers, but not PS3. With that said I myself use a PS3 controller for my PC, but a wired one which works fine with a program emulating an Xbox controller. Not sure how it would work with a wireless but I would imagine some smart person out there figured it out! You know there are other games for PC than first person shooters right?

I would love to participate in this discussion but I own a console so I am a worthless human being whose opinion is worth dirt. I also enjoy playing on my console every once in a while and I have fun with casual games ever so often. Should I just kill myself right now, or am I too ignorant and uninformed to even manage that?

Where did you download DayZ Commander? Did you buy both Arma and Operation Arrowhead on steam? Have you downloaded any other third party programs?

I would like to contribute to the discussion above with the following question: what is so positive about hype? How does it help a game exactly? In my opinion there are only negative qualities associated with "hype" (like people not realizing the difference between an alpha release and a release).

Just so you know: what matters is not whether you hacked or not but rather if your CD-key was caught hacking. That might have been someone else using your key. Even if this is the case the key will remain banned.

If an exploit isn't explicitly written down as against the rules loads of people will abuse it and then claim it's not cheating. It is cheating though and a really boring way to play for really boring people. We can all however look forward to the rage threads when people try to do this in the SA in the future as it won't work anymore.

I think they (BIS and rocket) should really consider not calling it an alpha release but rather "making the alpha test public" or something. "Release" for many means that it is a finished product and no sense or explaining in the world will change some people's opinions on the word. :)

Just watched the whole thing, as I wasn't able to last night (beer ain't gonna drink itself). There are lots of small hints in the way he says stuff that hints on a release pretty soon; as in "we want this, might make it in time for alpha". * We should force him to stream more as his inexperience with streaming seems to confuse and stress him enough that those secrets just might pop out. :) Very cool that he did a stream though, wasn't expecting something like that at all! *Speculation warning

If most melee weapons now use rays and yadda yadda technical mumbo jumbo colliding with geometry does this mean melee weapons will collide with eachother? That would be amazing, blocking a melee attack by attacking back yourself. If only there would be ways to put different amount of force or choose which direction to swing (maybe with WASD in combination with the mouse) melee fights could be amazingly tense!
