Sean of the Dead... best Z-movie ever!
terrvik replied to Dr Klunk's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
First of all it's Shaun. Sorry to be a dick about it. But yes it is awesome because the script is really clever, even compared to other kind of movies. Reference-mania (as usually with the Spaced guys) and endless rewatchability. That's clever writing. -
Can't wait! :)

I definitely think radios of some kind should be added. Once you have one you can switch between chat channels and write to whoever else has one. You could try to reach other survivors or whatever. I also think the radio should have a power on/off state. If you don't turn it off a radio static buzz sound thingy will sound everytime someone writes in the chat which should of course be audible for other survivors/bandits as well as zombies.

I found antibiotics. That's pretty rare, right?
-
I think the whole Hide Body-thing should be removed from DayZ. Let players be able to drag bodies and hide them that way instead.

Questhubs and the ability to repair tractors and farm land.

So I was looking through the zombie films in my DVD-collection just now and started thinking about what would fit in the world of DayZ. The first thing that crossed my mind was this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-5_eOWOG_3eQ/TitIq1hPa1I/AAAAAAAAAOc/trABqIa1RdE/s1600/notld1990lynmch.png It wouldn't of course actually add anything to gameplay but it would be creepy as hell. What else could there be to add to the general creepiness and immersion?

[PICTURES] Dehydration/Hunger Mindfuckery - MORE HALLUCINATIONS TO COME
terrvik replied to ErwinRumble's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'm kinda going another direction here but WHAT IF all these hallucinations and creepy sounds were to occur as an result of infection? You get punched by too many zombies and insanity starts creeping in... -
I would like this if it was based on gear you found in game. Maybe you could be allowed to choose different colors or other SMALL things before jumping in a game (dont know how this would be programmed though...) but I just think it would be more fun to get a customized appearence based on what you find and how you play.

Make rain automatically fill water bottle.
terrvik replied to night_chrono's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
As said before dehydration should be made a more severe risk. And the amount of water and soda cans lowered. -
Make rain automatically fill water bottle.
terrvik replied to night_chrono's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Implemented in the right way I like the idea. If you risk getting sick i n the rain there should be some reasons you would wanna take that risk, like collecting water. If Soda cans would become more rare so you really had to search for water it could work. -
Let's talk about medicine/physiology of DayZ
terrvik replied to HrcAk47's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I really like your ideas but I'm sad to say that many wont read because it's so long. I read it though, and it's good stuff. :) A question for you: How realistic would it be to be addicted to morphine if you choose to use it to much? Or even painkillers? So that you would have to seek it out otherwise the shake/blur-thing will happen even without you getting hurt. -
Health and Healing thoughts + Zombie mechanics
terrvik replied to Finch (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Had some ideas on how to improve food and have it give some benefits. Have a look. :) http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1974 -
I think the amount should maybe even be higher. After all, this is an infection that wiped out most of the population? They should be a constant threat. What is needed though is ways to play smart and silently take them out one by one, or lure them away. Features i am sure will be implemented sooner or later.

You weren't kidding. We are fucked. Bandit "problem" solved! I agree with most points brought up though. Quick respawns so it's impossible to clear an area to loot and the panic effect needs more work but i kinda like the idea of it. (I made a suggestion about some kind of consumable to calm nerves, would work really well when a panic system is fully implemented and more severe... just sayin :))
-
Yeah I really think it would add more to the game then the other way around. As a reply to how the weapons would never break I think that it should be designed so that the weapon never fully looses function but only increases jamming probability and maybe a decrease with accuracy. I know I would panic.

This combined with being able to turn on the lights in buildings and streetlights in cities would really solve a lot of stuff. It will be another tactic in defence/offence, it would give the players more stuff to do besides finding better gear, add to the immersion in that you can really make a difference in the "world" and with a coordinated group light up a city at night. Could also help with a lot of complaints people have about the total darkness. I can just imagine setting up lights around a barn, fence it off with wire and defend it against bandits. My own safe* haven! :) * Well...
-
It would also help customizing the characters, helping other players recognize a friend or spot a foe. I think it would be more fun finding it in game rather then setting it up in a lobby.

I always wanted a feature in a survival game where you could find and use clothing with different benefits. Like a warm jacket that keeps you safe in a winter landscape (obviously not something for DayZ) and goggles that help you see clearer in rain and dust. Raincoats could be usable. Maybe clothing with more camouflage and so on.

I think the popularity is awesome. Not only for this particular mod but it opens door for other projects with original ideas (well...) by showing there is a huge demand for it. Great!

I'm just going to straight up list some thoughts I had about food, hunger, dehydration and consumables. HUNGER AND THIRST Many has suggested that blood should regenerate at different rates depending on hunger and thirst levels. I think this is a good idea since it gives players a reason to keep a good supply of food and water. I do however think there are lot of potential to add more depth to it! Say that you have two more stats; energy and focus. In my opinion they should be "passive" and not be seen on screen but affect gameplay in subtle ways. It could be noticed in how steady you hold your gun (focus), how far you can sprint (energy). Maybe even some kind of panic system; if a player is swarmed by zombies the screen will shake slightly (very!) due to panic unless the energy or focus is high. Since Soda contains sugar it could dehydrate but also boost your energy. Water will always be more effective to keep your thirst down, so it is ineffective to run around with soda cans only. Other consumables to add could be chocolate bars (energy), some kind of calming pills (don't know the correct english term, sorry :)) for your nerves (focus), thermoses with coffee (kind of unrealistic but you get the idea). They could be found in stores and residential areas. Neither energy nor focus should be vital for survival but function as a boost of some kind. Obviously there is a lot of balancing to do to make it work right! FOOD POISIONING Well, quite straightforward. A very small risk of food poisioning when eating. Canned food should of course be very safe to eat. Chocolate bars (listed above) more risky. I've seen a lot of suggestions about being able to boil and purify water. I like this idea because it would mean that careful and planning players with camps set up will indirectly be rewarded. If you refill your water bottle and drink it straight away you risk getting ill. Could potentially add some tension and add more focus on the survival aspects of the game. And what about being able to eat raw meat for a quick blood regeneration at a high risk? If you got sick you get the usual blur effects, shaking and maybe even passing out. I mentioned this in another thread but I like the idea so i'm mentioning it again: after a period of time sick you start to sneeze and cough which will attract zombies and other players. Antibiotics are in the game so my guess is that something like this is coming eventually, but these are my thoughts on it. Well, there you have it. I'm all for things that make travelling around necessary and I think if different kind of foods and fluids have different perks you would be more picky when choosing what you are going to carry around with you. Thanks for reading and please give me thoughts and more ideas on what can be added to the survival aspect of this great game. :)

No I mean, and im only speaking for myself here, that I wold probably forget what servers I got what equipment in. :) Kind of a minor thing, but anyhow!
-
I think it would also be kind of annoying with a lot of different characters with only minor differences. Hard on the servers to... I always play the same server anyway? :)
