I am far away from hardcore and I think some aspects of the game are to easy. Mostly how easy it is to get decent gear and a nice amount of ammo to supply it. I never fear running out of supplies.

rocket has stated that the mechanics (spawning, loot etc.) is based on time so screwing with the time settings will screw with... well, everything. :)

Ehm. Yes I know about the exploit. So what? I still don't see the point here. What's saying there can't be more zombies and less ammo? I want to feel HELPLESS in the game! I want the despair! I want to be forced to play smart to survive, not cheat with a map showing me deerstands and stockpile so I can go Arnold and roleplay as a tank. As soon as I feel safe in the game, I think the game has failed. So I am a nub because I want to make the game harder and more tense? Huhuhum?

Wow. I didn't realize people weren't thinking more when playing this. :P So you kill another player for their ammo. What are the chances that they have the type of ammo you want? Why would the other player have a lot of ammo if ammo is rare? Why would you waste two magazines in a firefight to loot one? It would also make life harder for the camping snipers. Right now when you find a DMR you always find at least two magazines which is more then enough to lie down on a hill and snipe easy targets for no reason. If you had three bullets though, you would't waste them like this. This game should stay scary and it isn't scary when you feel well equipped! It's as simple as that!

Need a simple way to add the game to Steam ASAP

Add the Beta shortcut in your Arma folder as a "Non steam game" in Steam and copy the shortcut properties (Target and Start In) to the proper places in Steam. It's easy! :) -
A scoped rifle with 10 bullets should be a treasure. If there was a way to not find magazines but single bullets at loot spawns that would be great. "But I won't be able to camp with a sniper rifle with so few bullets!" No, you won't! :) This would force players to actually think and plan ahead. With less gear you have a lot more to lose. It makes sense in the world of the game and it adds to the experience.

What about if there was more different types of equipment so it's difficult to have an allround character? I mean if there are more types of medical supplies, more types of tools and so on so you have to choose what kind of gear you pick up. You can't have it all. :) -
You sure you're not just playing on a server with crosshairs turned off? :)

I totally agree that we should try reducing the amount of ammo. Not just for PvP reasons but to raise tension. I WANT to feel unsafe and with the amount of ammo and how easy it is to find right now I tend to feel safe. If you had less ammo maybe we would see more scenarios of attempted robberies (like in the awesome video someone put up) and such to avoid wasting ammo. I simply feel that less ammo will mean a more interesting game experience. :) And don't give me the argument that you need five magazines to clear Cherno... I don't think you should be able to! EDIT: Btw, I agree with every point Dallas brings up.

What if two NPC Angels came down to retrieve the dead player? One picks the body up and ascends to heaven while the other avenge him and kills every player in the area with Holy Power. If you kill the Angel of Death you get wings and can fly. If you escape the avenging angel you must go to a church and pray for forgiveness.

Will be be able to use an action called "Cover" on the bear traps to hide them in grass? Will we be able to put meat in them to lure zombies and carnivores (not that there are any now but you know...)? If we set a bear trap and leave will it increase the spawn rate of animals? Because the chance of actually trapping one is minimal. But it would be nice to set up a trap on a field and come back an hour later and find a dead boar. I wonder if this is possible though. Why can't people just discuss a new feature and be excited instead of whining, raging and acting like a twelve year old scared of spiders. :)

nope. its doesnt fit. because there is no wild animals that will be trapped into it. if Chernarus had big wild animals before apocalypse then it would be logical for bear traps to be. There are bears and moose in the Czech Republic. :)

Bear Trap is just a name. Doesn't mean it should only be used on bears. :) I think it fits the setting very well! More so than barbwire and tank traps. And helicopters.

Sorry for the long quote. :) My post is probably confusing for a couple of reasons; i just woke up before i wrote it without any coffee, I used the term "tactical shooter" as I've seen it being used in this thread and my English confuse even me most of the time. :) I'm not sure if you and I are on the same side? I agree with everything in your post, sorry if what i wrote suggested otherwise! My main point is that just because the vanilla game has a feature that doesn't mean a mod with a different focus must include it.

I never play on 3rd-person servers because I am not a pussy, but I am curious and want to ask a few things. Just because ArmA is a tactical shooter, who the hell says that DayZ is? Just because 3rd person view is in ArmA it doesn't have to be in DayZ. I'm getting sick of that argument. ArmA 2 is a tactical shooter, YES. DayZ isn't. Why the hell is this so important to you? Everybody screams when the infected gets a little more powerful but when you can take advantage of something it's okay because "ArmA is a tactical shooter". What!? Even seen the argument that 3rd person is realistic. Gnngh. Bottom line: I udnerstand why it is important in Arma (and OFP, since I played since that came out) but I want it gone in DayZ.

You are a survivor because you were able to get well prepared. Maybe you lost it all. Maybe you didn't have anything at hand when it began. Maybe you wanted the challenge. :)

I actually played CoD with my mother yesterday. She couldn't figure out how to coordinate the left and right stick to move and look at the same time (yeah, I play on a console). She had fun though.

First of all, I play servers where there is no kill confirmation. The debug monitor is there of course but it will be removed. I don't think disconnecting will be a big problem when no confirmation is standard. Well, it's a big problem but not a bigger problem because of this. If you aren't sure if you actually killed your target you will (or SHOULD if you are smart) be patient and scout the area well before moving in to confirm and loot. If someone disconnects he would have to wait a long time because he is not sure how long you will stay where you are. If all confirmation is removed no one will know anything, which is a good thing. :) All it comes down to is that it is a great way to increase tension not knowing if the one you shot fled inside a building and bled out or are waiting inside to ambush you.
