"You were kicked off the game"
terrvik replied to InsaneInTheBrainLA's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Running as administrator all the time? Verifying the game files in Steam? You COULD try to get in contact with a server admin and see if they can help you out by checking the server logs why you get kicked? -
Why?

1. Post in the Troubleshoot sectino 2. 1.7.2.6 is the current version of DayZ, 1.0 propably refers to the current version of the map, in this case Lingor 3. Tell us more, so we can help! What third-party software, if any are you using? Steam? :)
-
Use DayZ Commander, it installs everything for you. ;)
-
Give more information if you want help. :) Do you use DayZ Commander or not? Have you properly updated all files and the map? Have you put the proper lines in the launch settings?
-
What a cheerful fella you seem to be. Go to bed, kid. To OP, I had a similiar problem a while back with my brothers Steam and mine. Have you played on the same computer? Logged in on different Steam accounts on the same computer or something like that? The same CD-key can have been registered on both computers and then it would be the same GUID. :)

What the Standalone needs - atmosphere (Namalsk)
terrvik replied to indian_crowe (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The one thing destroying the immersion is side chat. It has to be removed! Otherwise, the few hours I played on Namalsk was great immersion wise but that damn side chat... -

PLEASE HELP CANNOT JOIN SERVERS AFTER SYSTEM RESTORE
terrvik replied to tpike1caesar's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Where any recent beta patches removed when you restored the system? Also, your progress won't be lost if you reinstall. -
He did answer earlier that he never owned the game before. But if it was a cracked version then technically he did not "own" it before so he wasn't lying... Nice detective work though smasht!

Huge concept with different side features: Every action leaves a trail. Players heavy influence on the world and the consequences
terrvik replied to DZR_Mikhail's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
By the way the idea of spawning with clean clothes and get dirtier the longer you survive is great. I wonder if there could be some mechanic that can visually show if a player has played for a long time overall or is a complete beginner as well? Beards? I don't know. :) -

Figured it would be in there, I just woke up so I am confused. :) -

Read through it all but can't see anything about blood leaving trails. So if you bleed you leave blood on the ground, walls, bushes and trees. Not much, but enough to track. Anyway, great ideas, hopefully some of them will be considered at least! -
Same questions as above and do you share connection with anyone else?
-
A question for you people that knows this kind of stuff: are there realistic drawbacks to wearing a ghillie suit in real life? Do you get warm in one? Can you move easily? Do they make noise? If yes, this should definitely be a part of the game. :)

Would be great if the mouse scroll could be used in this way. Maybe not in this game, but it is an interesting mechanic. Walk forward and scroll to gradually change moving speed. :)

By the way, there should be some "carrying" animations as well. Like when you pick up something that realistically won't fit in a backpack (car engines comes to mind) your character actually has to put away whatever weapon he carries (put it on his back perhaps) and actually carry the heavy stuff. EDIT: Awesome typos

Suggestions for the DayZ standalone - thinking outside of the limitations of an Arma 2 mod.
terrvik replied to ruarz's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Since clothing is being expanded on and rocket mentioned the importance of boots recently I would suggest that the inventory system allows for a separate left and right hand/foot to give it a more scavenging feel of using whatever you find. Finding a pair of boots should be a very, very good thing. -
I guess that is what would be cool with it; that once "useful" things will become useless trash in the game. So when you go through a house you cherish the canned food and throw the video games away. :)

What's wrong with the loading screens? Should they have background images? Music? A minigame where you can practice combos? Or just expository texts (bean recipes?)?
-
Like I need your beans...

The goal in Dayz should be survive, not pvp
terrvik replied to ElysionField's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Please don't, it is crap. Anyway there is a difference between being able to kill other players and a term like pvp. Pvp makes it sound to competetive in a gamey way, which it should not be. But never should there be restrictions on killing. -

Steam never gave me a cd key??
terrvik replied to TearGas (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Contact Steam Support with the receipt you got when you bought the game. Their servers can be slow sometimes, but it can't hurt to get them on the case.
