Pending Update: Build 1.7.3 (community edition)
terrvik replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Everyone posting insightful comments are right. The mod is perfect as it is right now in every way, don't try to improve it in any way or test anything that could possibly work out really well but have a slight chance to be a mess. Just leave it as it is. By the way, don't waste time on new features for the standalone, just release it right now. It is perfect and trying new stuff is never a good idea. -

I opened a can of beans with a knife once. Won't go into details but a friend of mine had to go to the hospital and stitch his toe back together. -

If they are not mentioned in the changelog they obviously are not included in the update. How hard can it be? :) Last I heard was rocket mentioning something about there being some problem with the animations. Safety first! It is a good way to test them (the mechanics) and improve them for the standalone. Have everyone been drinking too much red whine today? -

Pending Update: Build 1.7.3 (community edition)

The odds of your electricity shutting down when you are in combat are pretty low, unless you have a cat running in a wheel to keep your computer going. I would be pissed if my character died because of this reason, but it is a small price to pay. :) -
The graveyard is a place where useless thread should end up (duplicates, rants, spam and such). This is a useful discussion with a valid idea. :) Just because not everyone agrees that it is a GOOD idea does not matter. :) In my opinion it would not kill the difficulty, just open up for new tactics. It takes a while for a player to bleed out as well so it would not be like a zombie would fall over after a few seconds. Add to that the probability of a lot more infected roaming about in the future and it probably won't change much in the difficulty department.

Devblog details on engine architecture for DayZ
terrvik replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
You are funny. :) Where does it say we have to pay a subscription? -
Why?

You can change it when you die. The whole "can't be changed" idea was scrapped a long time ago but will probably be back in the standalone.

Devblog details on engine architecture for DayZ

EDIT: Removed due to merging -
It's weird that everyone that gets global bans usually post about it in their first post with a short message hastily written with little to no information at all.

But... this is already in the game? :) I always navigate with the sun. I would not want every player to start with a map since being lost is one of the fun aspects of the game. So what if you walk in the wrong direction for thirty minutes, that's an experience as well! I never look at online cheat maps and such since it ruins the experience and turns DayZ into more of a "game" anyway!

Looking for a group playing namalsk(pref) in nothern EU. 24+
terrvik replied to vikfal's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Sure, add me on Steam (it's on my profile page). I'm Swedish, 25 and plays with my brother on Namalsk a lot. Played since april so I have experience. Still pretty crap though. :) -
No worries! I would be the first one to agree that arguing about fiction is rather pointless... sadly it is also very fun to do so. :) And what I wrote above wasn't really adding anything to this particular discussion anyway, I just like discussing zombie lore.
-
The most accepted "canon" zombie myth is that the zombie virus somehow regenerates cells and that's what reanimates the dead and stops bleeding and all that. Obviously this does not apply to DayZ.
-
Haha, no of course not. There would be general areas where you spawn, as is now, and the game calculates where the farthest away spawn point is and that is where you spawn if you die. With a bigger map and more varied spawn points it could be a step towards making a death a little more severe and also stop people from rushing back to their bodies or rush back to take revenge on their killer. Of course this could be abused. Want to get to the other side of the map quickly? Kill yourself and respawn there. So I don't know. :)
-
What if the game knows the location you died and always spawn you as far away from that point as possible, with some randomness still?

DayZ dosent work with Steam anymore?

Use DayZ Comman... oh, fuck! -
I use one of my fingers. I am creative like that!
-
My guess is that when the standalone introduces more custom clothing and different zombie skins everyone will look alike anyway.
-
Also, in the settings in DayZ Commander check the Additional Launch Parameters.

What the Standalone needs - atmosphere (Namalsk)
terrvik replied to indian_crowe (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yes, I know. I mean that the ability to communicate with the whole map ruins the immersion. Seeing a guy getting killed and telling the rest of the server the position of someone and such. It's stupid and must be removed. :)
